No matter how bad Sparky dresses (and what he was sucking), if someone came over to me and commented on how me and my colleagues had performed I think I'd have told him to do one too. No need for it.
 
I don't understand why people approach 'famous' people at all ,I would feel totally embarrassed. Friend of the wifes was staying in the same hotel as Amir Khan in Dubai and got the standard boxing pose ,then a couple of weeks ago stayed in the same hotel as Rio Ferdinand in Portugal and she asked him for pictures despite not even knowing who he was and not believing he was famous because his family were all 'cockney chavs' and her husband said he was from Manchester. Apparently he was very accommodating but the pictures are all on facebook with obligatory 'guess where I am' 'guess who we met' :(

My thoughts exactly. I don't get 'starstruck' per se but I do get drawn to the famous people. I'm a bit of a people watcher to be honest. Love sitting outside bars watching randomers walk by. So as soon as I see a famous person I just kind of stand and stare. Probably why I saw it happen :) But no, I don't speak to them.
 
Reminds me of when I met Curtis Woodhouse for the second time.

Years ago I was in Kingdom in Sheffield, I saw Curtis woodhouse at the bar and got chatting with him. I ended up giving him a drunken lecture on where it was all going wrong for him...

Curtis was polite and really tolerant. I know he had some shite and got in bother over the years but he was very pleasant with me. Could've quite easily kicked off.

I'm the same, I would never dream of running up to a "celeb" or football player for a photo, It's just very cringy in my opinion. I see it at the Lane every Saturday, grown men hanging around the players cars while they are still sat in waiting for a picture and or autograph. The only time I'll roll with that is if the bloke has his kid with him.

If I was in Meadowhall and walked right past a player or celeb, I may say "alright", that's about it.
 
I always say hello to our players if the situation presents itself. I enjoy getting to know if they are pleasant or belong in the "twats the lot of 'em" thread.

Overall, it's been good and I'm glad I did it. James Beattie and Alan Quinn are the standout top blokes. Paddy Kenny casually wanders in the twat thread.

My lad was rebuffed embarrassingly for him in the South stand car park by Nigel Spackman and I would never forgive that bastard for that. Neil Warnock on the other hand would go well out of his way for fans ,once delaying the coach to Liverpool for the semi for my lads birthday party (along with Kenny ,Jags ,Tonge and Monty). Badger, Dearden and Hockey used to live close to us when I was a kid and were all great blokes. Currie and Woodward could be a bit hit and miss.

Woodward was a surly bugger in his playing days. I think he was quite shy and lacking social skills, except when in the presence of Happy Harry's secretary, of course...

He was good to me after my first away game (v Leicester in March 1970). He told my dad to lift me up and asked me to put my programme through the little sliding window in the coach so that he would get all the players autographs for me
 



I was out in a city centre pub in Barnsley a few years ago and saw Chris Morgan out with Stephen Quinn.

Morgan seemed quite drunk. My mate (a Wednesday fan) was giving him some stick but Morgs was giving it back. Seemed a nice guy, always smiling and a bit of a joker.

Squinny was totally sober drinking orange juice. He had his new girlfriend out with him who looked about 16. Got to admit Stephen Quinn came across really well. He said he loves playing for SU and realises how lucky he is being a pro footballer. He said he realises that football can be a short career and he accepts he's not the most talented but he said he is never complacent and will always gives 100% no matter what.

He even bought me a pint of beer. Can't be bad.
