Didsy much like Sharp is still useful off the bench.

Obviously if you play him in his correct position helps as well.

Does he fit our system and compliment the players we have? I don't think so, and that isn't his fault c'est la vie, which is why I think it's time for some cold pragmatism.

I still think Didsy has something to offer us.

Fantastic player and almost too good in some aspects. Amazing work rate too but lacks the qualities we really need right now. A great creative striker, but not suited to playing as an attacking midfielder. Not quick enough to play on the wing. Not clinical enough to start up front. He made the 5-3-2 possible in the prem and carried us last season while the entire midfield and attack underperformed but as we move away from that formation I just don’t see how he fits in. I do also blame his work rate for the laziness of the midfield last season

To be clear I don't want to get in argument regarding a player we all love 'oh no he's not good enough' vs. 'oh yes he is' so we'll endeavour to keep it civil.

I think he offers us something, but is it enough? How many goals and assists can we rely on him to get this season? Does his link up player lead to enough opportunities in the final third?

Does him playing block another player's path of progression for us?

I really REALLY want to disagree. But I said something similar in shoutbox. I can't see where he really fits in the squad. If we play him in a strikers role he's not got the pace or the finishing ability required.

I think he's got a good chance playing as a cam for us personally.
He's not got the vision or ability to create assists in a CAM role, he wastes possessions because he cannot see the pass and then has no option but to spoon it into row Z because all the options have been picked up. Looks nice on the ball in a CAM but zero qualities to be a good one

If we aren't acquiring any new players it would be very strange to move him out.

He's another one like Norwood, Fleck, Sharp etc. that have a place in the squad but should be backup players. Players should have been signed to replace these stalwarts in the first team. Another consequence of our failure to evolve the squad when we had the opportunity. Instead we bought an unproven striker at an inflated cost and a load of Championship (at best) quality left backs.

Didn't make the squad today, on his way out?

Ooooo, let’s dig up an old thread I posted and give it a bump cos I haven’t had enough attention today.

The shit that comes out on this forum beggers belief.lets get rid of every fucker that misses.Lets wait for Sundays next target..ffs 🥱

BENCH, he’s far too slow, miss places passes and cannot score, he’s had a good run but time for him to move on.

As good as he was in his cameo on Saturday, he was appallingly bad tonight.

Olsens piss poor goalkeeping for their first goal aside, imo McGoldrick lost Utd the game tonight. He manages to put the ball in from an inch away from the line, or even if he leaves it for the ball to hit his teammate and roll in the net, we go in the lead and I think we coast it from there. He somehow misses and 30 seconds later we are down to 10 men and have lost Bogle.

Totally and utterly chucked that game away tonight. Mind you the referee was a disgrace as well.

I think this season him and N'Diaye can hold up one spot between them.

Get Gibbs-White back in when fit in support of whoever plays up front.

It's hard to judge individuals today because they were collectively so poor.

Strange thread when McGoldrick offers so much more in 90 minutes than the aging Billy Sharp does.
Honestly though, how much did the wide players and midfield create today? Salah would have been a relative passenger with that service today.

IMO we should just let him go come the summer mcgoldrick. Need someone who can actually finish chances off

We were poor all over the pitch today and yes, Norrington Davis isn't the answer as far as crossing goes but Bogle??? He had an absolute shocker of a game. I don't know what he's supposed to be, he can't defend and going forward he doesn't have pace and is a bit of a one trick pony.

Bogle's crossing was abysmal. Any notion of actually aim for a man or even beating the first man seemed to totally evade him.

He's better getting to the byline and playing it back than much more than that. Norrington-Davies has a good engine on him but basics like ball control and decision making just let him down at the wrong moments.

A wasted afternoon really.

The main reason to drop him down to being a bit part player is that we have his replacement in N’Diaye.

Could you confidently say that for Sharp with the alternatives being Brewster and Mcburnie?
Yik

Need to recall Jebbison

It's one of life's mysteries when Jebbison's out on loan, McBurnie and Mousse are AWOL and Brewster has one setback after another. Seriously, if Jebbison needs game time then fucking give it to him, he really has to be an improvement on owt we've currently got.

yes he had poor game but also blame has to go to the tactics who put him on the wing
