I just think he's not going to have the impact we need him to have this season.

Certainly don't want to appear overly critical of him considering what he has done for us, however in the cold light of day he's not getting in goalscoring positions as much as he should and when he does he's not clinical enough. His link up play used to be beautiful but in this side it does not have the same effect.

Success in football, and in many aspects of life, is knowing when to move on/move people on, even if it means being ruthless and lacking sentiment.

I think it's time for him to do that, get a well earned move to the MLS or wherever he wants to go.

There'll be many aghast at this suggestion, and it's hard to make a post like this without it sounding like you're slagging him off, but realistically is he going to score enough goals and create enough assists for us this season?

If the answer is no, it's time to say we love you David but it's time to say goodbye x

I don't want to agree. It hurts me to do so. But you might be right.

He has been simply phenomenal for us since we signed him, for nothing, after a trial, 3 years ago. At times he has looked unplayable. In the first PL season he made international players look foolish almost effortlessly. But maybe age is catching up? I still think he is our most intelligent player. He reads the game so, so well and is capable of moment of amazing skill. Sadly though, his finishing recently has been woeful.

If we can't afford to "carry" a luxury player who doesn't score goals despite being a striker, then maybe we need to explore other options.

Regardless, if he does leave, now or next summer, he will forever be one of my favourite Blades of all time.

I think he is being limited by the system.

He doesn't seem to have the free role he did previously.

But, yes, he maybe is in the latter stages of his career with us.

Could be said of a few others as well, Bash included who doesn't seem to have a settled role yet with Slav.

In fairness to David he was a light in a very dark tunnel last season so I daren't write him off. Unfortunately I think our problems go much deeper than this and we may need a major rebuild.

To suggest he's not getting into positions isn't accurate on what I have seen.

I counted minimum 6 goal efforts including one I'd deem a sitter and 2 very good chances in just the Swansea and WBA games alone.

His finishing has always been gash.

He seldom strikes the ball cleanly. But it's a hard time to judge when others around him are not doing their jobs.

Certainly I would agree he drops to one of many options rather than a definite pick.

Didsy has more than earned some loyalty in my opinion. No way we should be looking to move him on. I truly shuddered to think where we’d be without him and Billy.
Billy will have a role all season. Didsy however I think will fall by the wayside moving forward if someone comes in for him and offers him a 2 year deal then we should let him go, as you says he’s earned the respect, but I feel he’s going to find it much harder to find a club following his inevitable release at the end of the season

Bollocks.

Utter bollocks.

Like a Phoenix from the flame, Dids, alongside the likes of Fleck Enda and a few others shall rise and be all conquering 😀.

Sharp was finished 2 games ago and, after scoring a couple, is now the messiah !!

Fickle ?

Goldie is part of the problem. Drifts all over the pitch getting pulled out of position and holding the ball too long Nobody knows what he is going to do with the ball. Frequently shoots from areas where he will never score and when he gets a chance miss hits it

I agree but only if we have or get someone better.

He's a forward who drops deep and links. So far this season, we've been trying to play him as a wide man in a front 3 or as one of a midfield 3.

Been brilliant for us but sadly it's now time to say goodbye.

I don't think he fits Slav's system well enough, but that said there are many players that fit the system, Burke for example that seem to do what Slav asks, but the ability just isn't there unless the instruction is "Run fast, straight and then kick it out of play"

Last night i thought Didsy looked knackered, very leggy, was definitely ready to come off when he did

Conclusion : Didsy's not done yet, he'll still do a job

It's certainly time to knock the silly "McGoldrick is a midfielder!!!111!ONE11!"" nonsense on the head. He looks absolutely lost in the middle of the park. Hopefully he still has a role to play up front.

Needs playing in the right position instead of being on right hand side of midfield ffs

This all feels like a savage break up, it's not you it's me........can we still be friends..😭😭😭

McGoldrick can be frustrating but he is trying to do his job and carry the remainder of midfield who have been rubbish and not creating
by beating the first man or finding space for diagonals. Keep and support him better.
For me Berge and Norwood should be replaced / sold and team built around Brunt plus a couple more good pacy midfielders.
Sell Berke as he is a headless chicken, play a couple of U23s more regularly as hungry and play sharpe off the bench or second half.
A couple of wingers if wingbacks are not utilised.
Freeman had a good game last night but he has been variable but at least there was something more positive.

Too early to write him off in my opinion. May look a different player again when we’re on the front foot with a bit more space to play on. For now he’s feeding off scraps.

McGoldrick is always a slow starter.

I wouldn't write him off yet.

I couldn't agree more.

You'd think that some of our fans might learn from the annual "Billy is past it" posts, when he goes 3 games without scoring.

Form is temporary but class is permanent and I know what Didzy has got.

Move on, nothing to see here and there are plenty of other silly threads to moan on. Take your pick on knocking various other players, Slav, the Prince, catering, ticket office etc etc.

Didsy much like Sharp is still useful off the bench.

Obviously if you play him in his correct position helps as well.

For the OP and all those people who liked the post, I really hope your employers are a little more sympathetic towards you when you turn up to work and you don't manage to look like a star for a few days mainly because all your colleagues around you are shit at their job and you've been carrying them for the last 12months

I really REALLY want to disagree. But I said something similar in shoutbox. I can't see where he really fits in the squad. If we play him in a strikers role he's not got the pace or the finishing ability required.

I think he's got a good chance playing as a cam for us personally.
