Fair play to Kevin McCabe; this is exactly the kind of statement that i wanted to hear coming out of the club.
Hopefully next week we can concentrate on the build up to the start of the new season rather then worrying about the players who won't be available to us.

"One or two are big names for big sums" worries me slightly
Big names usually mean a big drain on the wages and back to square one again like we were with BT.
I want us to get proven players at this level that aren't necessarily big names and big sums but can do a job and fit into the team.
Get us a mobile striker, replace the players we sell and get a Macca or Brown type player for the midfield

One thought has come to mind, If we were unable to stop these approaches in the first place (McCabes quote).

Finally us blades have got what we deserve! An explination! I'm happier now and it makes sense what he's said. I'll give him credit for that just as I was losing faith.
I just hope his claims of big name signings to follow the sale of the two Kyles don't come back to haunt him.

Simple way to manage this:
1. Players under contract - reject all bids
2. If the player wants to go, he must submit a written transfer request
Otherwise we don't sell, this should be regardless of whether we're PL or Championship... unless of course we're happy to sell. In this case see Turry's procedure for 'snapping hands off'

My understanding is that these players still have ongoing contracts with us and aren't even transfer listed.
These approaches are unwelcome (as McCabe said) but are being tolerated by Utd, as Premiership clubs might be seen by the Kyles as a professional step upwards (It is in effect a goodwill gesture by the club to the Kyles - albeit one through which the club may make £11mil!!). However, the club has every right to stop other clubs talking to our players under contract (if they do so without our consent it's considered "tapping up") - and has every right to insist that players contracted to Sheff Utd fulfill their contracts - - therefore McCabe and the club can end this on Friday by simply telling all other clubs that thay can no longer hold discussions with our players - end of story.
The down side is that this may upset the Kyles who may feel our club has blocked their professional progression (as with Paul Devlin in the past) - and the club gambles on possibly being able to make £11mil on these two at some later date.
Yeah that'd work...

I don't believe much of what Mccabe says, on live radio he said BT wasn't leaving, 3 days later he's gone. Money talks with the United board, alway has always will, I've seen us over the years sell off key players season after season, than wonder where it's all going wrong the year after.
All this bull about wages this and wages that, nah it's all about the G's always has been, and in United case, always will be.....but maybe just maybe if they stuck it out, invested and watched the team grow, we'd be in the premier maybe making more money.....but as it is, quick easy money is our way. Pisses me off.
A one off I could understand, but it happens just about year in year out. BB said we have no ambition, and the way we wheel and deal, it does seem that way....So here's to making a quick buck....Cheers!
