This vanilla phrase is beyond belief for me, very, very amusing in many ways but basically taking the piss out of us.

Correct, McCabe will have set budgets with Winter. Wilson has to work with Winter to determine how this budget is met.

McCabe doesn't decide who plays and who doesn't.

It looks like they have a compromise for Cresswell but he's not going to play Monty as that means Quinn and/or Maguire may go.

Hopefully Winter and Wilson make the right footballing decisions that meet the budget.

McCabe won't have directly told Wilson he can't pick certain players, as chairman he's not involved in the day-to-day running of the club. Decisions like that will be made by the Chief Executive (Julian Winter) and Finance Director, in conjunction with the manager.

Wilson answered honestly, McCabe answered honestly. The gap in the middle is the truth: you'd have to ask the senior management at the Lane to find out exactly what happened.

Or perhaps both people have made statements that they believe to be true. In which case neither is a liar. But then accepting that as a possibility would mean we couldn't polarise things and sling mud, wouldn't it.

I don't know the answer to that any more than you do. But to call either man a liar on the basis of the very few words said on the matter is a bit premature. It seems to me that some people are only too eager to jump on anything that they feel gives them ammunition to fire at McCabe.

He is blasted for not saying anything, then blasted again when he does.

Well he is the one effectively calling Wilson a liar with the comments he has made.

One is telling the truth and the other is ill informed it is just a case of who.

Maybe the previous history of McCabe and his wonderfully truthful and honest statements about the clubs affairs are clouding my judgement on this matter.

In my humble opinion, nothing that McCabe has said shows with any certainty at all that he is "effectively calling Wilson a liar". Yes, it's possible that he is, but it's also equally possible that he isn't.

Winter has then worked out with Wilson that we can't play Cressy & Monty because their wages plus bonuses would take us over the figure decided by McCabe. Debate is one thing, but trawling through here I see the same people Dragging up the same issues or taking the bones out of what McCabe has said to suit their argument.

To a large extent the man has brought this about himself though.

He issues a statement saying nothing, in a language that a lot of people who don't inhabit the world of corporate bullshit won't understand AND undermines his manager at the same time (see * below before exploding in indignation).
You will note I am not one of those who calls for all this communication because I genuinely believe we are so bad at it that it only makes matters worse.

*NB. I understand that he may not have called DW a liar or be cogniscent of what has gone on between board and manager BUT to call something a "silly myth" when it has been initiated in an interview on Radio by DW himself, is not good employee/employer relations at any level in my book.
