He's building a new stadium for the pigs. £1m a week rent.

Maybe putting 2+2 together and getting an obscene number but remember thinking when I saw the developments happening around the ground. Bramall lane must be worth a fortune, given its location and size. Is this a plot to relocate should the chinese investors over the road want to expand further? Is it just coincidence? Hope so. :/

Do you know Pompey?

If McCabe had won it the least of our feckin worries is which rugby team will be playing there.

Could be one of McCabe's better decisions. Big potential for women's football in the city (especially in participation if not crowds) which is already being realised with United gearing up go miles ahead of our rivals on this front and with growing number of United girls teams already.

He's made some crap decisions and to be fair had some bad luck but every now and then makes a good move and his current thrust of pushing United's role in the community in different ways s a big part of what we should be about being - to coin a naff phrase - the people's club in the city.

It will be a plot. Ive been told so, on here...

I'm sure we had a thread on this subject two weeks back ;)

The site isn't big enough for a 30-40,000 capacity stadium so I can't imagine it would lead to any long term move, unless the arena was to follow the DVS down the closure and demolition route (never rule anything out with SCC). Then United would have a training facility and potentiall a new stadium (on Arena site) in close proximity. Shame for the Eagles as I think ownership of their own ground and that income stream is key for their survival.
I am surprised we are investing in a Ladies side when Sheffield already has a club at the second tier of Women's football - Super League 2 with a good set up, adequately sized ground and development programme. We certainly cannot sustain 2 clubs in the city.

SCC wouldn't have any say in the Arena closing, it's owned and operated by a private company. Why do people think the council are behind every single development in the city? Ideally the arena would have been built in the city centre, like MEN and the new one at Leeds, however I guess at the time it made sense in helping to regenerate that area.

I'd suspect the aim with the ladies team is not to compete with the other club, but to overtake them. I don't think SUFC are particular about what happens elsewhere if we feel we can make a better go at it. We've done it before 128 years ago ;)
