McCabe -had his time

All though Kevin is a loyal blade , I do feel he has had his time and it is time for a change of direction. Kevin McCabe has built this club but I don’t think he has the money / will to take it forward , I see the same thing at the gym he owns at crooks good building and good staff but no plans to progress. The gym manager wants new changing rooms etc , he says to me he’s put these plans forward but nothing happens, and I believe him. He was told when we got promoted from league one it would happen.
I’m not sure the prince is the man , but I feel McCabe priority now is money not the Blades. Time to move on Kevin

I definitely have to agree with you, it’s time for a fresh impetus at the helm, the lack of leadership from the owners is palpable, he can no longer maintain a club of this size at this level, not sure PA can either without further backers.

Time to go Kev, I’m sure there’s been plenty of interested parties, we’ve got to be one of the last big clubs not to have been taken over.......and I’m begging to think there’s only 1 main reason for that.

Fuck it, roll the dice.

We either stick with being average as fuck, and we all have to be happy with it. Or we take the risk and who fucking knows.

Worst case scenario, in a few years time we're playing in a yellow kit in a newly built bowl near Meadowhall.

And the team will be called Meadowhall Red Bull Rovers ;)

There are times to consolidate and balance the books (or reduce losses) but every club with an ounce of ambition needs to speculate and grasp an opportunity to move forward when it presents itself. What better opportunity was there for a club to go for gold than to receive a substantial unexpected sell-on windfall when the team is near the top of the Championship and Premiere League football is the reward for success?

As in other businesses, lack of ambition leads to stagnation and decline so when will McCabe ever go for it if not this January when we’ve got the safest pair of hands in decades running the team? Those safe pair of hands were rewarded with the 3rd smallest budget in the division, only bettering tiny Burton and cash strapped Bolton and look at where they are now. Not only did he and his ex mate not seize the opportunity in January, they gambled on Wilder in is first ever Championship season pulling several rabbits out of the hat which he did in the end, magnificently.

McCabe’s time has run and the Prince doesn’t fill me with any confidence either. This club needs fresh ambitious owners at the top because if not, they’ll have us right back where we started from in League One and we’ll lose our best manager in Decades in the process.

Great post, agree with all of that.

McCabe saying he is not going anywhere and will stay until he sees us in the premiership is not going to happen with HRH and we can subsequently assume that he has someone else lined up

"Hope" is probably a better word Bertie.

Like Sean said, the suggestion HRH has not been putting in loads of cash doesn't stack up, Companies House showing 14 million of shares. No cash input equals no shares. Anyone suggesting otherwise kindly ought to explain why their evidence contradicts companies house or its just unfounded gossip. People don't hand out shares for nowt.

I think the fact McCabe is a Blade is always going to make selling the club more difficult. Its not like when Mandaric sold the pigs, he had no emotional connection to the club and couldn't care less what happened to them after he left. With McCabe I genuinely believe he wouldn't sell out to a buyer knowing they'd jeopardise the club. Whether you believe Kev has made £300 million a year from the hotel and is living off the club or that more realsitically the club is actually running at multimillion pound losses every season I still think him being a Blade makes an already difficult job harder. Finding someone who matches his valuation and then someone who buys into the essence of what being a blade is about is nigh on impossible.

I’m glad that you are wearing rose tinted glasses, for the rest of us realists I’m feeling pretty down as I don’t see a solution

You might want to just read that post again.

GuangzhouBlade is wearing no rose-tinted glasses, just posting an opinion on why he feels there seems to be no obvious solution, just as you do

When I'm unable to drag Mary Kate out of the house on a Saturday evening and am forced to sit through something like Britains Got Talent, I wonder who has told some of the completely untalented unfortunate contestants they have star quality and should go on the show. It must be the same rotten bastards who tell people these cock and bull stories about United.

Jim, you can't play that game any more. All of these teams have had a better last decade than we have.
Fuck me et tu brute

There's fans at our club doing a fabulous job cheering up Wednesday fans
They don't have to wind us up
Some of Our own can't wait to sink the knife in .

There's 60 plus clubs wanting billionaires not just us

Never read such unresearched bollocks in 50 years

McCabe's time maybe is up but if the alternative is the Prince then KM still has plenty of time left in him yet. The worse thing that can happen is if the Prince takes control. Contrary to the rubbish that has been talked about re money the prince has put in, its rubbish, over the last few years it KM who has invested, he obviously has been at the prince for him to match it, the prince has point blanked refused and KM could do nothing whatsoever about it. When the realisation came to KM that the prince would not invest anything KM has been trying to force him out of the club, this has been going on a few years now not a recent thing that people think it is. The gloves were off and because KM was doing everything he legally could to force the prince out, the prince is going after this clause that could out KM. The prince has no intention to invest and build this club, he will try to force out KM then without investing try and flog the club to anyone interested to make a quick profit.

He will sell to anyone literally anyone, would KM sell to anyone? of course he wouldn't. It will be sad day in our history if the prince wins this tug of war.

And you know this to be true because? the accounts are wrong? Kevin McCabe has not told the truth when he has said both he and the Prince have put millions into the Club? or are you just speculating like everyone else?

Still amazes me:

Scenario: Appoint a bad manager. Let him spend money

Conclusion: Spending money doesn’t work!

Scenario: Flog both Kyles. Replace with expensive loans.

Conclusion: Loaning players doesn’t work!
We’ve never given a good manager money. We gave Warnock money (good manager bad spender) but he wasted it on Horsfield, Akinbiyi, Shelton, Fathi.

This idea that any club who wants a buyer can get one is just wrong. Newcastle have been searching for a buyer for ages. Ellis Short has had to essentially pay these new people to take Sunderland off his hands. The former in particular should be a very attractive prospect for anyone who wants a dabble with challenging the big 6 in England.

I would have vehemently disagreed with you until I read about the changing rooms at the gym in “Crookes?” (Once again the letter ‘e’ causes difficulty for forum users! “Clark” or “Clarke”? “Sharp” or “ Sharpe”? “Brooks” or “ ”Brookes”? “Crooks” or “ Crookes”?).

If that’s how McCabe is treating the good people of Crux then away with him I say. Banish him! The bloke is a Cade and a vagabonde!

Can't see it Bladesman my old Son. I'm busy stocking my Wine Cellar in the Mablethorpe Condo with the best that Happy Shopper can offer, living in hope that I'll hit the "just come out of the fryer" sweet spot at teatime, and of course, trying to break par at the local Crazy Golf Course. Alas, the only thing I have broken so far, is wind. That might be something to do with the Peas and (if I'm in the mood) Curry Sauce that I have with my Fish and Chips.

Oh, and one of the Donkeys is called Vern, that amuses me. Retirement is suiting me.

Surprised yer fit all that in what with the draw of the beach?

The ground is the only thing he'll get any money back on. The shares aren't worth the £30 odd million reported on the balance sheet. That's what they cost, not their worth in the market.
Buying shares in a company which is known to be losing a substantial amount every year is akin to a charitable donation.
It is stretching a definition to call it an investment.
The club is worth less than nothing , so the half which the Prince wants to buy should cost fuck all.
In fact Kevin should pay the Prince to take it off his hands.
Even Kevin CANNOT expect any real money for the Club.
The only thing with any real value is the freehold , with or without the stands & pitch.
The Prince has two choices - buy the ground or rent it off Kevin.
Surely it can't be so difficult ?
If the Prince wants to buy the club , he is effectively signing himself up to funding £multimillion annual loss.
There are only 2 reasons he would do this :
1. The bonanza of getting to the Prem IF he can risk funding a proper promotion drive ; or
2. (Depending on how cheaply he can buy the freehold) knocking down the ground to build on it and moving or winding up the Club.
As lawyer , i just do not see a solution to Kevin's 2 conflicting objectives namely :
A) being 70 , with sons who aren't interested in giving £10m PA to keep the club alive , selling it for real money (which means selling the freehold) ; AND
B) ensuring it stays alive if he sells the freehold.

The word freehold means what it says - the owner is FREE to do whatever he wants , including dismantle the football club + build flats on its ground.

The only way you & I could prevent this is for 25,000 of us to fund £10m pa of losses.
That's £400pa for every man woman & child who attend the Lane ON TOP OF YOUR TICKET MONEY.
Think about that , fellow Blades.

No wonder it's bloody stuck at the moment !

Are you suggesting that Kev, having his money for the Freehold and still wanting control of what goes on at Bramall Lane is somehow wrong ?

But he wants to ensure we play in Red and White stripes, and be a custodian of our History and Legacy ....... pffft

Princey was happy to purchase the assets 'at a fair market value' if I remember correctly.
One can assume he's being priced out. One can assume he's trying to get us on the cheap. It's down to interpretation.

One can assume McCabe is asking for top dollar, let us hope that Wilders not so veiled treat knocks their heads together and make them see sense one way or another. If the unthinkable happens and we slip back into league one oblivion they will both lose. I hope they can work a structure out that keeps everyone happy . I suggest Bassett as chief arbitrator .

I suggest we keep Dave Bassett away from all 21st century football matters.
