I've said this before, and I will say it again, you don't divorce your wife and then marry her again!

Granted he's a step up on Kieffer, but so is Ian Ormondroyd!
To be fair i never saw McBurnie misplace passes as much as Moore does, I’d love to say the pass against Sunderland was a surprise but we all know it wasn’t

I was relieved we didn’t go up into the Premier League, cos we were nowhere near ready. I didn’t want COH to think that Chris Wilder was the answer and throw half a billion at him to build a team to establish us in the top division, because we know how that scenario ends.

But this season and maybe even the next, I want them to build a team of elite young athletes, from wherever they exist, develop the Cat 1 academy, scouting, medical infrastructure and first team training facility into leaders in their field.

When that team comes together, I want us to destroy the Championship and go up as clear Champions.

So naturally, it is so disheartening to hear people on here, advocating the resigning of Ollie McBurnie. Is he really at the level of what we require to achieve such a level of future success?
IMO he was bone idle, slow and unable to strike the ball cleanly before he left, and he isn’t what we need now. We’ve already got to a glut of poor strikers in Moore and Cannon, to get rid of, without adding another to their ranks!

McfuckingBurnie……..Jesus Christ, I can’t get my breath 😣

Finally some common sense. Best post on here for decades.

The more I mull this over the more I'm in favour, tbh. We could do with another striker option, but every other area of the pitch is currently a higher priority, so why not get in a known quantity on a free and save the transfer budget for sorting the defence out and getting a few more wingers in?

I'd take him back. On a free, better than Moore, could link well with Campbell and would get a few goals at this level.

Moore can then come on as a sub in the late stages.

However, the thought of Wilder playing both Moore and Mcburnie together makes me shudder so I've changed my mind.

I’m not a fan of bringing him back but you certainly can’t accuse him of being bone idle. He worked hard but his lack of pace unfortunately negates many of his other attributes. His best asset was his presence defending set pieces but curiously I don’t really remember him being as reliable at offensive set pieces.

When the question of whether or not to renew McBurnie's contract came up at the end of last season, I think most people's opinion was that they were happy with his performance level but were reluctant to offer a new deal due to his poor fitness record. The fact that he's spent the whole season available suggests he might have turned a corner, and could be a good investment.

Whether or not you like his antics/personality, his recent numbers in the Championship were excellent.

He's 29 years old. We signed him when he was 23 with potential. He's passed the potential bit now and should be playing at his peak. His peak is bang average, plain and simple. He never has been and never will be a reliable player. I've seen more effective link up play from Moore when he's actually had a partner than I ever saw from McBurnie. Given that we've ended up extending Robinson's contract and are trying to get Brewster to sign a new deal when Poku and Dolan are available for free, I will be mightily pissed off if we bring McBurnie back.

Not the most inspiring signing, and very much goes against the grain of a rebuild.
If Wilder stays will be the sort of signing we should get used to.
If he's on a free and this can be done early then I think it would be a solid start. It wouldn't be an indication of anything else that would happen later in the window, especially given the club have been clear how they're evaluating new signings.
