Would he have got into the Leeds and Burnley promotion sides? If not, he's not good enough for our promotion chase next year, is the way the club should think about it..

McBurnie scored 13 in 25 starts the last time he was in the championship

Campbell has got 10 in 20 and apparently he's fantastic

Apart from 2021-22 (when he only played 1,000 minutes) McBurnie has been a consistent goalscorer every season he's played in the Championship.

He's had a lot of injury problems. I'm not in favour of signing him this summer despite being a paid-up lifetime member of his fanclub. But the idea that he's "not a top end Championship striker" is incorrect.

Neither of them took Campbell when he was available (especially as Burnley lacked an actual striker for most of the season), but Burnley fans would probably admit that Campbell would have got in their side if they had him.

If Mcburnie was at Burnley and was fit to play, he would have been in that team every week.

Joe Rothwell might not have been 1st choice in midfield at Leeds, but he would have played most games for us in our midfield had we signed him.

Sing his name? 🤣 Believe me, if the level of next seasons promotion aspirations, includes the signing of Ollie McBurnie, I won’t even fucking be there!
 
I've heard Tom Cannon is championing this move.

It's believed he feels he can compete with a striker who scored less goals all season than Cannon did in 1 game.
 
On the flip side if Mcburnie does come back, think I'll be requesting a bet on games he will miss from injury and/or suspension being higher than number of goals scored.
 
Should we sign him?

Honestly, I don't know, there's pros and cons to signing him, even if the deal is weighted in our favour.

Pros:
  • Good championship striker who can get goals at this level
  • Competition/cover for Moore, Oné isn't there just yet
  • Good in both boxes
  • Knows club and Wilder well

Cons:
- Have we moved on from him?

What a drama.

McBurnie bagged 15 goals for us the last time he played at this level.
 
I’d definitely welcome him back. The ball actually stuck up front with him, he battled for the ball, showed some skill, scored a few goals.

Worry is injuries…
 
Absolutely not… we need to move forward not back.. another striker with 0 pace … would name a better CB than a striker

For us to bring in any striker they have to be better than Moore and Cannon( based on what we have seen from him so far). Whilst not ideal McBurnie is streets ahead of both of them
 

Promised much and delivered little. Reading the Transfermrkt report someone kindly shared seemed to sum up his career with us. Better at assisting than scoring, decent in the air, shooting woeful, rotational player - can't see that much has changed.

Chuck in the numerous injuries, the stupid yellow cards and subsequent bans, and the off the field nonsense and it's a firm No from me.
