What a truly inept embarasing performance we made west ham look a good side we made basic schoolboy errors ,passes that totaly missed their mark It is unfair to name names but some of the players are out off their depth By the time the transfer window opens i fear it may be too late for survival in the division good news wednesday are in deeper in the poo than what we is

Maybe he should start scoring some bloody goals then. What was his haul for the whole of last season? 7!! Wow, that’s top class.
I wasnt saying he scored loads of goals, I was just pointing out that there is multiple threads about him you could have contributed too.

No it's not an excuse. I just don't understand what people are expecting from him? We create nothing. He isint a world class striker, I don't understand why our tactics have become long ball to McBurnie and then McBurnie gets all the shit. We are lacking ideas and creativity. I think McBurnie is doing everything he is being asked to do in this set up and don't see why he gets all the shit he does.
Everything.

Really ??

is it reasonable, as a central striker to be “asking him” to contribute goals ?

Assists ?

Retaining possession and bringing others in to the game ?

Creating chances for himself

Being clever at commanding space ?

Drawing fouls ?

Outpacing an opponent ?

Outmuscling an opponent ?

Being sufficiently mobile to find space to receive a forward pass ?

There are FAR too many negatives surrounding this bloke that they far out way any positives that could conceivably be given.

If he is to come good, it had better be soon.

Mcburnie did ok today and I am not his biggest fan he worked hard and got himself in some decent positions but tippee tappee football ain’t going to provide the service he needs, maybe 20 million don’t get you a lot nowadays Brewster doesn’t look much either, keep the faith blades
thought brewster showed a glimmer of hope today that he might be settling in but mcburnie has had enough opportunities to impress and he just doesnt know the service is an issue but hes just not a premier league striker

At least he got the chances he did get on target, West Ham missed two easier chances, his strike partner did next to nothing today and it looks like age is catching up with him. Out of the two McB was far superior to McG but that is not saying Oli was anything more than bang average.

Is McBurnie any better than Gary Madine? Madine was worth a punt at a couple of million. £17 million and he’s no better in my opinion.

But everything you are saying is counteracted by the fact that as soon as anyone is under a little bit of pressure they are just lumping it long to McBurnie. Is winning his headers, he's drawing fouls. The way the team is set up is the problem. Not Oli McBurnie.

He's obviously desperately short on confidence but still looked like our biggest threat and forced a couple of decent saves. Seemed to be doing most of the closing down upfront as well. If his shot was an inch lower it goes in off the bar and we're not having this conversation.

The link up with Brewster for when he hit the bar late on was promising hopefully there’s a chance they’ll complement each other’s play style and form a partnership. Like it or not for the next 2-3 season we will go as McBurnie Brewster and Mousset go.

I forgot to add when he is furthest up the pitch, our first press is non existent.

My bad !

I hardly ever post but read the comments on our manager and players most of which are wide of the mark. But I will say when the players were doing the second half warm up Mcburnie body language and effort was shocking to see.

Shoot me but I don't think either of the front 2 were among the worst players yesterday. The save McBurnie drew out of fabianski wasn't a big stretch but was well hit, he had no business getting a goal out of that header and was unlucky to hit the bar. And as for McGoldrick people still seem to criticise him as a number 9 when that's never been his game.
Only thing I'd say is maybe they're not a great combination together? Perhaps a fit Mousset alongside either one of them makes more sense.

Don’t think you can ever fault McBurnie’s work rate his talent maybe but it’s a tough league and I think he’s more of a box striker and currently our crossing isn’t the best needs to be quicker and more decisive

I must be a really poor judge of player then, because I thought his work rate and pressing was one of the things he had been doing well in.

He's getting in the right positions and he will start scoring. I'm having £50 on him scoring anytime next weekend

I don't think McBurnie should be seen as the route cause of our problems, because that's not the case. However, I am not overly convinced he can actually play football - he generally looks terrible when the ball is at his feet.

Sorry for revisiting an old thread but when McBurnie was playing well in the Championship, all the goals I saw him in highlights made me think he was being played deeper, certainly now how we play him. Better with the ball at his feet and playing almost as a midfielder with an eye for goal or a cutting pass.

😂 now that’s the best excuse I’ve ever heard to justify the waste of £20 milllion.
How did I know someone would be along blaming McBurnie. We just arnt good enough it's not down to Mcburnie feeding of scraps everygame, not scoring 30 goals a season. But he cost 20 million? 20 millions is peanuts.
You pay peanuts - you get..............

No apology necessary.

It is a convenient mistruth that our Hero, quote, “played well” in the Championship.

He did score 20+ goals and so there are positives in that. But he did not “play well”. It is not within his footballing capabilities to “play well”. Once in a blue moon he will throw in a half decent performance, such as a couple towards the end of last season. The apologists have been all over that like a rash ! The similarities with Leon and his “purple patch” are clearly evident.

His next start should be in the cup next month !!

What are your thoughts about him being played differently to when he played.......er, at a better standard than he is currently? I personally think round holes and all that you see. When everything clicked for us, we had the right personnel in the right position which I don't think is now currently that case.

Yes. Play differently. For sure.

Bench or Stand. Take your pick ?!

Fill yer boots...

Says a lot about his character that he's prepared to do something like this at a time when so many are out to get him.

Just noticed the facial hair and realised it may be old footage, freshly posted today.

This looks recent though, posted yesterday.
