Sorry, MCB will demolish the league below. He might be a bit gash in the premier League (not helped by our insistence of playing like a mark 2 stoke) but he was equally the best striker in the championship when we signed him. (Joint top scorer with maupay) to say he won't do it below is delusion I'm afraid.
So 1 good season in the championship makes you think he will rip the league up next season? Leon Clarke had one good season shall we get him back for next season? The list is endless of players who have one good season go for big money just to flop, I respect your view but I just dont see him being a top striker far from it.

Look at his half season for Barnsley, he took the piss there to in a sub par side.
Let's hope he does that way we can claim some money back for him cos if we got promotion he would be one of the first out the door

Another pig come fishing on our board?
The intellectual giants of the #Wilder #cult.
And a right load of thick #cults they are.
As they'd have to be defending the indefensible and applauding the destruction of the club they 'claim' to support.

If, as now looks more than likely, we do get to see our current crop of front players in the Championship next season, I will confidently predict that further custard pies will be freely dispensed on this very forum. And for the same folks that are already covered in the stuff from head to toe 😉.

Eat up 😂.

Play him at least somewhat like Swansea did, and Barnsley did, rather than using him like a reborn Kevin Davies
I think it’s more this is the Premier league not the Championship than anything else

Chabby Chabby Chabby.
Clappy Clappy Clappy.
I'm only 9. I can see McBurnie is crap.
Cant wait to get back to school and hang around with the clever pals.

Am I the only one who actually thought that it was a penalty? The defender definitely appeared to shove him in the back. It would have been very soft but its the sort of decision that Rashford, Kane or Salah would get. A hand on the shoulder is enough to send these cheats tumbling.
On a similar note, how did Gomes escape a booking for his spectacular dive yesterday? He took off from about four yards outside the area, flew into Egan and managed to land in the area. One for the coaching manual.

Can we take a second to mention how important McBurnie was in that win last night.

Came on, grafted, dropped deep LIKE HE PREFERS TO, got the ball in to his feet, played the link up role really well.

Just thought I'd jump on to say that seeing as someone usually jumps on to hammer him.

M'on the Burnie

Wrong, he was McPub again.

Apparently.

Be careful, people who know so much better will be on soon...

I'm not going to try and fall out with anyone over this and it's good that supporters back the players to the point at which they don't deserve the support. But.....
I have to say I didn't think he played particularly well at all. His first few touches were poor (expected under the circumstances) and really didn't see him affect the game at all. It was fairly obvious he was playing deeper straight away and he didn't track back well until later in the game.
He did defend well on a couple of occasions - he saw a potentially dangerous cross out of play - and he gave us a bit more defensive presence at times. Going forward he looked 'Bambi-esque' and just as slow and completely unaware, unthinking, and reactive (not proactive) as he's always been.
Maybe i need to re-watch the second half? Maybe i've got it all wrong? I've been very critical of him so maybe I'm only looking for the bad things he does at times.
But all this "he was the reason we won" stuff? No, not for me. Sorry. Not at all.
I was very enthusiastic about us signing him and desperately wanted him to do well, but he's been a huge disappointment so far and he looks a million miles away from the player he looked in the championship, regardless of 'where' he plays.
At least we'll get to see him in that environment next season, so we'll see then.

Maybe you just need to try and understand what you are watching. He's highly regarded by staff & teammates for a reason.

I never claimed to be an expert but I like to think I know a little about sport, sportsmen, and Sheffield United in general. I was never a professional, nor did I ever want to be, but you don't have to be to be worthy of an opinion, especially on a subject that you feel passionate about.
I also, like everyone else, react to what I see and how I perceive it to be. Don't we all, when all that's said and done?
I'm aware that OB must be highly regarded by the staff. The club paid a lot of money for him and, in my opinion, he's still a long, long way from justifying that faith, given his performance up until now. You'd fully expect the staff to 'big him up' to build his confidence, and that's right. I think that's the case with a section of our support right now. I just didn't agree with them that last nights' victory was down to him, as was intimated.
But no manager/staff gets every decision right. We signed Hammond for Gods sake. How "well regarded was he?
I hope he proves me, and a lot of others, wrong. I really do.

He had 15 touches and gave the ball away 7 times- but he improved, and his last 4 out of 5 touches ended in positive results. A pass success of 50% is of course appaling BUt i personally thought he was invaluable defending those late West Brom free-kicks and corners.

And as a striker - which is what he was brought on to do, I gave Pubby 4/10.

Cue: vast bloodletting from vaginas all over he planet.

Meanwhile, Ollie McBurnie gets up this morning. checks his social media, has a light breakfast, phones a few of his mates, has a go on his missus, drives into work and trains, goes home and watches Australia Has Blind Date Skating Island Idol on his vast, wall like TV.

That's a very fair point, mate. I don't doubt (as I kind of alluded to in my post) that he got better as the game went on. I'm not saying he was 'crap' or anything. Just that he wasn't 'special' or that he 'was solely responsible for us winning the match', that's all.
You know what though, I think that deep down the biggest problem most of his 'knockers' on here (including myself) have with him is he is capable of so much more than he seems to give and produce.
Would you not agree?

It was a weird one from McBurnie last night. My brother texted me to say "McBurnie was very effective without actually playing all that well," which I think is spot on. He looked rusty, which is unsurprising, and his touch and passing were both poor. But positionally he was just what we needed, dragged their defence and midfield out of shape and created holes for Basham and Bogle to exploit. As others have noted, this is more similar to the position he played for Barnsley and shows how we could use him better if we weren't so intent on lumping it forward every time he's on the pitch.

I've obviously missed these comments.

the reason we WON is because of what CW said in his post match "After half time we went for it" - think he also mentioned "like the Sheff Utd of last season and previous years"

We won because we went to a 3412 and played more on the front foot than the cautious slow passing style of 352 that we did in the first half. For sure it wasn't bad in the first half - but by going for it 2nd half we played without some of the fear of 352 that we started against Bournemouth 18 months ago - and again the same formation (3412) that brought us from 2 down v Chelsea away. Not here to hammer Norwood - but the change a HT made a big difference.

There's numerous on here that want a change in formation - 2nd half last night was an example of what we can do, even if it was against the team that is the worst in the division..............but, are we brave enough - or more to the point, is CW brave enough to allow more 3412 stuff in the future? We'll be back to 352 v Chelsea and can see the reasons as Chelsea could easily pick us off, but if losing then changing to our tactics of old should be done quicker if needed.

It wasn't McB coming on that changed the game- basically WBA sat back and we changed from a careful approach to a much more gungho effort.

His first few touches were embarrassing- and the couple of shots he had- plain and simple crap -but like above we all were grateful for his defensive role at the end.

But trying to justify he's good c'mon- that game was won by Rammers/Egan/ Amps/ Bogle/ Lunny/ Fleck/ Goldy & Sharp..
