McBurnie

I think McBurnie just needs the "rub of the green" he needs a spawny one to go in he seems to be looking for the "perfect goal" every time, which in truth seems to be United's mantra. When at Lane especially they should be hitting opposition GK with long range efforts as can lead to spills which, can be taken advantage of.

A deflected shot to go in.

What worries me is that we've signed Brewster on the same recent history as McBurnie - scoring a few goals at Swansea - if history repeats itself , we have just paid 40m to get very few goals in the Prem.

This is classic McBurnie though. He has one of these games once every 5 or 6 where you think - wow, he's actually got something about him.

Next week, he'll probably be back to languid McBurnie.

I understand so many wanting to defend him, but have a look at the impact other attacking players are having that have come up from the Championship - Maupay, Che Adams, Bamford, Watkins, J Bowen....

So we can expect a decent performance around the Leicester/Southampton games before he disappears until the new year.

In which case, he has been out of form for 90+% of the time he has been on the grass.

Categorically NGE and for all reasons i have been saying for some time.

None of which has anything to do with his socks or his questionable dress sense. Footballing reasons. Basic footballing reasons.

The real question on the table must now be how long the gaffer is prepared to persist

He isn’t afraid to jettison players early. That much is clear based on transfer activity over the last 2-3 years.

That said, I have a funny feeling I will be critiquing McBurine for some time yet !!!!

Hoping I’m wrong 😑.

UTB
I've just heard the gaffer say that McBurnie was "outstanding"

I guess he'll be persisting for a fair bit yet,

He will. It goes in cycles with McBurnie.

Dropped for a couple. Starts. Has a blinder. Starts next few, performances dipping each game. Dropped for a couple Starts. Has a blinder. Repeat.

Che Adams..... is this a joke?

If we signed Bamford, you'd have had a fit and rightly so.

Bowen????
Watkins whos barely done anything outside a 6 yard hatttrick?

Che Adams is a way better player than Oli McBurnie.
He's fast, strong, mobile, can score with both feet, run with the ball. He looks a much better prospect at this level.

Jarrod Bowen is 3 in 6 this season for West Ham and is involved in most of their good play.

But scored 1 in 11 starts last season....

Che Adams, all the attributes, scored 4 goals so far at Southampton.

But they've had a greater impact apparently.

Take your pick...

James Wilson (the cockey one)
Ricky Holmes
Chris Hussey
Samir Carruthers
Ryan Leonard

None of the above made any significant contribution. McBurnie scored the same amount as Mousset last season, that guy who everyone seems to think is a class above and in doing so helped us secure a 2nd season the PL.

I think half of this vitriol is down to the fact that he drives flashy car and dresses like a twat.

Mcburnie is our best striker and should be starting every single match he is the focal point for most of our attacks and helps us build play

The lad bullies defenders he’s just dominated two of the best CB’s in the league something strikers very rarely do

Hes the focal point of attacks because when he plays we hoof it up to him
McBurnie couldnt bully himself out of a paper bag
Who were the 2 best CBs in the league hes dominated ?
Hes missed four sitters in the last two games FFS

Hold on how long did Che Adams go last season before his 1st goal? it was almost at an end IMS, out of all those you mention Bamford is one I agree with and it grates like hell.

Post lockdown he's been very good for Southampton and is an important component to their attacking play.

He's scored again today for them & almost got a very good assist (denied by VAR).

He's improving whilst McBurnie remains inconsistent.

Having watched this league closely now, to me it's clear that Che Adams has the tools to cause defences problems at this level. Whereas I haven't seen much of that from McBurnie.

Outside of Che, I'm surprised you think only Bamford is a valid one. Neal Maupay is excellent most weeks for Brighton.
Jarrod Bowen has 3 in 6 for West Ham & continues to take a lead role for them.

Not saying he's not improved but even Soton were considering loaning him till he scored, as I say McBurnie just needs that change of luck.

I don't think there's any doubting his effort or application, but for £20m I think it's fair to expect a bit more than that.

I see him as a Chris Wood or Ashley Barnes type of player. Unfortunately I'd have either of those ahead of him currently. Both of whom were less expensive. I do think we've paid far too much for him.

Maybe it's a confidence thing too, let's hope so, and let's hope he gets some soon.
Swansea board must have wet themselves laughing when we signed Oli.

Billy when presented with a chance is currently a better finisher than Mcburnie, however due to his age and physical attributes ie height, and more importantly speed he has difficulty getting into the right positions which is precisely why Wilder favours Mcburnie.
My money would be on Sharp over any distance against McBurnie, Sharp is also the best attacking header of the ball at the club. I would also say that positionally he's still the best at the club too. We need somebody who can score get Sharp on, if it's the only thing he does we can live with it. I haven't seen these situations where people reckon Sharp isn't up to Premier League standard but since I don't see every game (highlights mostly) I'll accept it.
