McBurnie Drink Driving bust

Didn't Wilder say on the record that he was surprised we managed to play the last few games of L1 or the Stoke game because they were all pissed?

And before you say - we'd won promotion... What's the difference?
Wilder taken out of context there ! celebrating promotion and being pissed for a game is not what was meant, the players had took there foot off the gas after promotion and going into the game pissed is not how it was.Would have been totally unprofessional and dangerous to go into a game under the influence.
Heavy boozing does interfere with performance and that's what Wilder meant
( in my opinion) .
We are in the process of trying to stabilise in the premiership so no celebrations until that is secured , A relaxing drink or two is not forbidden for footballers at the right time
so hopefully he was not drunk.

I'm sure if he was ! Wilder will hammer him hard , he has to show character now to move on and put it behind him.

What a twat, I hope the whole dressing room gives him a grilling as well as Wilder. Don’t want him near the starting 11 until after his court appearance next month. How embarrassing when I wanted him at the club so badly....

If we can play Ched whilst he's awaiting trial for rape, I don't see any problem with playing Oli whilst he's on a drink drive charge.

End of the day morals aren't going to keep us in the Premier League, so if Wilder thinks playing Oli is best for the team then personally I have no issue with it.

Dont worry Oli the only way is up after all this shit. 🙏

Very different circumstances in regards to rape and the issue of consent compared to a Drink Driving charge, also different management then compared to now. I personally don’t want to see him in Blades shirt until after his court appearances as I think we have other players that deserve their chance. If Wilder disagrees, of course I’ll always get behind the team.

May be this part of the club's culture should change.

As players you can still go out and enjoy yourselves without the use of excessive alcohol.

The conversation between manager and player could be as uncomfortable for Wilder as it is for McBurnie.

disagree. The players hardly hammer it, we’re fit as a butcher’s dog at the minute. This is an isolated incident.

You've got to be fucking joking?

We are about to find out if wilder was selecting him because of his price tag. Ideal excuse to drop him if so. On the other hand If picked then he is rated above Billy etc.
P.s can we please play the Moose from the start now.

He may get disciplined if drinking when forbidden but banning him is cutting your nose off to spite your face .

Hope the club make an example out of him with a heavy fine and making him not available for selection for a number of games, and not just move on with him in the team ASAP as Derby did.

Whether he’s had 3 pints or 13, it’s mindless and reckless and he’s endangered the lives of others by doing so. If he wants to live the celebrity life style with the fancy cars and 20m price tags which being a Premier League footballer brings then he needs to accept that comes with certain responsibilities and to expect to be hung out to dry for doing things like this. How anyone professional footballer could have seen the kicking Lawrence and Bennett got at Derby and then go out and drink drive themselves a month later is beyond me, doesn’t strike me as being the smartest of guys at all.

We've all got home at midnight, or later. Had 7 hours kip and felt a bit rough the next day. This is why the cops sit in bus stops around Xmas time.

Seems though that he's been caught in the early hours.. what a complete tit.

Stupid either way, but depending on which story it is, there's two different levels of stupid

I know I’ve woke up on a Sunday morning after getting in at midnight from a night out and driven to football feeling a bit ropey.

Still it’s a daft mistake to make. Hopefully he learns from this. Wilder gives him a kick up the arse he needs.

You've got to be fucking joking?
Which bit? The first point is ridiculous nonsense, the second however holds water. Other players, now fit, should be given a chance to show what they can do. He's had his and shown very little.

That’s a fair point. Haven’t we all?
Early hours does suggest 1/2/3am though, to me at least.

If it’s the morning after then fair enough. We have all done it

It’s all fucking nonsense.
Other players will get their opportunity as they are tonight, but to suggest not playing him till after his court appearance for drink driving is bordering on insane.

It will be interesting in the dressing room, if as we are led to believe, this is a tight squad of professional. Apart from his crass stupidity he has let all his team mates down, so after CW has had a go I would expect the captain to similarly have a go, if indeed it is a tight dressing room.
I would expect the captain will be sat in a corner putting his boots on with a smirk.

Sounds like alleged rape is fine nowadays.

Can’t even be arsed to read through the whole of thread as I can imagine some of the comments. There’s no excuse for drink driving whatsoever. The law will deal with it, as will the club internally. And that’ll be it.

At least those amongst our fanbase who can’t live their lives without having a scapegoat have got their new man though. 👍

Not good at all!!
Time for him to sort himself out!!
Talk about making yourself a target. It's not like he was driving a ford focus either. If the cops saw you driving an R8 they would be looking for any excuse to pull you over. I'm not defending him btw. Just showing how much he has been stupid.
I wonder what CW makes of it all. No doubt he will be fuming.

I think Chris will be bending the ear of those who confirmed this guy as being of good character. He’s acted like an immature teenager since he got here. Too much money - too little sense. And contributed very little on the football pitch so far. Not a great start is it?

Lunny picked up his performances to the extent that we needed a new one. Credit to Lunny for that.

Always assuming he is actually guilty of the offence charged............

He's another Mark the Lollipop/Jumper McNulty except at least he got paid less.

Look at me, Premiership footballer, loads o dough me, fuckin made it me, can't touch me, I'm famous me. International you know. Our wi me chivvy mates all hanging on to me every word and wad.

No you're Scottish. You aren't even very good at that. You're from Leeds and have no interest in us and our club or in doing anything other than for your selfish narcissistic self. You still support fucking Swansea and obviously wish you were still there with your mates. You are using us and are quite frankly fucking useless and a waste of space on the pitch and it seems off it. Big Mistake.

All of course in my honest opinion and with the caveat that I know absolutely nothing about football unlike some experts on here

Indefensible if he's well over the limit in the early hours which seems likely, even more stupid bearing in mind the high profile of the Derby County incident. As far as going out on the piss for the second time in a week is concerned in his defence he is supposed to be out injured so may not have been in contention for tonights game. I'm afraid thats all I can come up with for a defence.

It seems its a case of a young player with far too much money having not much to do other than go out drinking with his mates. Unfortunately he chooses to post on social media when he's out which doesn't help him and he goes as far afield as Swansea as well as his home town of Weeds. What I find strange, is as someone else has said, after getting caught early Friday morning and probably spending a night at the police station he chooses to go to the Barnsley match when he would have been better keeping a low profile. Tends to suggest he hasn't got much between his ears.

The Club will provide support for him, they have to he's our player. They also need to sit down with him and explain he needs to change his lifestyle. They should put him under the supervision of the Captain and make sure he bonds off the field more with his own team mates.

From a football perspective there's a good player in there if we play to his strengths but he needs to get his head right first. Unfortunately I suggested in a previous thread about him potentially becoming a PR disaster. I didn't think it would only take him a couple of days to confirm that statement.
