Wilder taken out of context there ! celebrating promotion and being pissed for a game is not what was meant, the players had took there foot off the gas after promotion and going into the game pissed is not how it was.Would have been totally unprofessional and dangerous to go into a game under the influence.Didn't Wilder say on the record that he was surprised we managed to play the last few games of L1 or the Stoke game because they were all pissed?
And before you say - we'd won promotion... What's the difference?
Heavy boozing does interfere with performance and that's what Wilder meant
( in my opinion) .
We are in the process of trying to stabilise in the premiership so no celebrations until that is secured , A relaxing drink or two is not forbidden for footballers at the right time
so hopefully he was not drunk.
I'm sure if he was ! Wilder will hammer him hard , he has to show character now to move on and put it behind him.
