Mcatee hate

My guess would be (football manager veteran) that Hecky thought that McAtee May be able to get the ball down and we can pass our way through the Luton midfield but Luton are used to teams doing this so Burke just bullies him and makes him look like a mug hence the change to a more combative midfielder in Doyle. <save to disk switch printer off>

Some of the criticism the kid is getting after his SECOND start in the championship away to a rugby team at the age of 19 is pathetic, he got bullied yes by experienced football league players.
Why such a provocative

Hate? …The lad played shite, people criticised him…End of chat

McAtee looked like a little boy lost…But nobody hates him, the MC sent him here to learn his trade.

No hatred at all.
You're over-reacting.
This was NEVER a game to start him.
Should have been Doyle.
That stupid decision was Hecky's.
Hecky knew what to expect from Luton but picked the wrong midfielder.

Go on, I’ll go first. Citeh have had our pants down with his lad,

He’s not ready for the Championship. He’s too weak and wet behind the ears, with zero league experience behind him. He needs a league one or league two loan to get some experience.

The new Foden he ain’t. And if he was City wouldn’t be letting the lad leave, and certainly not to us.

Barring winning us a pen vs Sunderland and passing the ball to a teammate thereafter for the first time, he was similarly abject. Tonight he’s been way off it, could have been sent off for two bookings and couldn’t even take a corner.

Get Doyle on or even little Blaster. McAtee does not belong in midfield. He’miles off and goes to show the ignorance of armchair fans and YouTubers who are sucked in by a highlights reel.

Crazy isn’t it…. He’s a teenager playing at a level he hasn’t played at before. Playing against seasoned pro’s, yet some expect him to be a world beater and literally cannot wait to slag him on when he isn’t.

He showed some real quality against Sunderland and clearly Hecky got it wrong against Luton, but he wasn’t the sole reason why we didn’t win.

Give the lad a break for fucks sake.

Given young uns are addicted to social media he'll probably read this. There's no hate. He had a bad night. Nothing more.
It's all part of the learning process. He's an asset i'm glad we have. We move on. He moves on.
If you have no sexual partner to lay besides tonight i guess it''ll play on your mind a while.
I only have a cat but i'll get through somehow.

So did our management get ‘sucked in by a highlights reel’ also?

Also - Crying out for Doyle when we hadn’t seen him play…. Smacks of hypocrisy.

One ball dropped & he sprouted a pube after that 1st half playing rough with the bigger boys, I predict he’ll become a true Leeds alpha like Mcburnie by the end of the season.

I hate people who consistently use the word hate.

Agree....it's strange how anyone can perceive criticism as hate, maybe it means something different now?
Think it's this social media tendency to exaggerate everything with no context or middle ground.

Think criticism of McAtee is fair because it's the truth, he did have a shocker but there's several mitigating circumstances.
It was only 45 minutes, playing away to a very physical team playing high press football, something he's probably never faced in his life.
There's been criticism of Hecky regards why start McAtee in a match where he's was likely to struggle, away to a high tempo pressing physical team.
However it was a massive education for McAtee, if he's as good as Man City believe, then he'll come back better and stronger.

Another point is Berge also had a really poor performance (especially in the 1st half) but he hasn't received much criticism.
The reason is we've seen with our own eyes that Berge often struggles in physical high tempo away matches
but give Berge time and space (which he gets in home matches) then we know he's top quality and a big influence helping us win matches.

Maybe McAtee will be exactly the same.
I still expect McAtee to be a massive player for us this season.

The difference with Berge is that he was playing deeper to accommodate McAtee, so he (rightly) gets cut a bit of slack.

All those things are why he’s here. To learn.
Yes, but not at the expense of costing us points which he would have if he'd got a deserved 2nd yellow.
We are a team going for promotion, not a training academy for man City .
From what I've seen so far, I can see him struggling for minutes. Not only has he not impressed, he seems to upset the balance of of the team.

Well yes, but that’s the calculated risk you take when taking young players. In exchange for developing them, you hope you reap the benefit of having a highly talented player in your team. Of course we are, to some degree, a training academy for City when we loan their prospects. Just like Burton were for us when they took Jebbison.

As for McAtee not impressing, let’s wait and see when the kid has more than a single cumulative league game under his belt before we condemn him to the scrap heap, eh? I could point to at least 6 games last year where MGW looked a bit shit, if you looked at them in isolation.

Hang on, I'm not writing him off - just saying he doesn't look like a starter for us yet.
Hecky should ease him in more for the foreseeable with using him more as a sub. Shame we're out of the cup.

Was he? It didn’t look like 3412 to me. It looked like a flat 3. Norwood wasn’t in Fleck’s position, obviously Berge wasn’t so it seems McAtee was supposed to be doing the Fleck role.
However, we may have inverted responsibilities so that McAtee was the first of the three to push forward when we won possession, with Berge’s role to move into forward positions when we had safe possession. I think part of the problem was that we couldn’t retain possession long enough for him to get forwards.

Well, it was similar to the set up v Sunderland before the sending off when Berge was deeper. I assumed it was the same. It was hard to tell.
