Great performance, can also kick with both feet instead of embarrassingly using the outside of his left foot all the time.

RND got bullied by Simms (who is immense) and struggled.

Lowe also struggled defensively 1st half.

I am pleased Lowe got his goal and I hope it steadies his nerves and he can kick on with us. The lad has obvious qualities at Champ level as proven with Forest last year.

Anyone remember what a good RWB we had when JOC was playing next to him? Not sure that Clark and JLT have the same influence. I think Lowe was helped having RND alongside him. JOC is still much better.

Got better as the match progressed.
At full time couldn’t help thinking he gave one of the stronger performances from the team which I found surprising looking back, cos after the Boro game I thought he looked crap

Much more promising from him tonight. Hard to judge against 10 men and still thought he was weak 1v1 a few times and let in some easy crosses but looked a far more capable wingback than he has done in the past

This. ^^

A good night for him. I’m sure he’ll continue to improve, but then he needs to. The lack of defensive intensity in stopping crosses will cost us. First half, I was out of my seat yelling when he failed to close down his winger when there was time to do so. Their striker was only a yard short of the resulting cross.

I thought Lowe was laughably bad in the premier league and just as bad last night but he had a good season last year. He earnt another chance and that has to be more than one sub appearance.

Looks like he might be taking the chance.

I mean that sort of stat has the potential to be very misleading, if he's in the position to make more tackles per 90 because opposition teams figure him out as the weak link in the back five and filter the attacks down that side all the time, it's not a good look

The stats say that the opposition shouldn’t filter their attack me down that side, considering his success at making tackles.

Though this is all based on your view that the opposition regularly target our left hand side as well, which isn’t really the case.

He's ok for limited cover but in the PL he will torn a new one if he plays week in week out. A definite area for improvement and a new signing/first team starter. Especially if Enda is let go.

Happy to be proved wrong but don't think Lowe should be our first choice.

Hoping we sign a new lwb or RND is the competition. If he gets in ahead of competition then that's all fine.
But it's an area we aren't blessed in currently.

Stevens was excellent first season up but form, subsequent injuries have taken a toll really

Keeper Wes/new keeper/Amissah
LCB RND /JLT as cover/new player if possible
LWB new player/Lowe
Rb Furious/Bogle
RCB Anel/New player
CB Egan/new player
CM Doyle (please God)/new player (a seasoned CDM)/new player
ATM berge/Ndiaye/new player/if there's a god Macatee on loan again
CF brewster,Jebbison, new player
10 new player's big job
We have a smattering of good young players nearly coming of age to fill the squad out
Anyone not mentioned needs outing either contract cancelled/not renewed/or loaned out
I don't envy hecky this summer as he needs a major rebuilding job on the squad

Reckon he’s one of those flashy young players you could defo get money for. We can pretend he’s a great talent by showing stats like the one above and get 5m for him

Bang average this lad.

If we move him on this summer I won't shed a tear.

He's OK...at best average Championship standard
however my concern is more about attitude...he seems to jog around just happy to do enough.

Thought the Man City 2nd goal summed up Lowe.
We have plenty of players upfield, Lowe has the ball in the centre circle and makes a bad pass to Mahrez.
Fair enough, everyone makes mistakes.....however the test of character is....what do you do when you've made a bad error?
Mahrez broke forward with the ball and Lowe could see it was a break away attack 2 Man City forwards against 2 Sheff Utd defenders.

Mahrez runs with the ball from the halfway line to the edge of our box.
Lowe is running just behind him and for some reason....is almost jogging and makes no real attempt to catch him up and make a challenge.
Surely he should have been thinking about committing a professional foul, just bring Mahrez down from behind, taking a yellow card.
But there was no challenge and with our defenders backing off expecting a pass, Mahrez went clean through and scored an easy goal.

Maybe I'm like alot of Blades, we can accept a lack of quality and odd mistakes as long as you're prepared to give 100% and run thru brick walls.
Lowe and Bogle (altho think Bogle has loads of potential going forward) could learn so much from the tenacity and effort shown by Baldock.
Even Robinson is quite average most of the time but he shows he has massive character and will to win.

If we're going to be involved in a relegation battle next season...we'll need a team of players you'd want in the trenches with you.
Lowe was underwhelming for us last season, then start of this season actually played well but last few months he's gone back to being underwhelming again.

Well put, and I agree we need players with heart and desire, as we will be up against some excellent footballers next season.

Lowe isn't at the level of Tony (heart of a mouse) McMahon, but he's not far off. It doesn't seem to take much in games for his confidence to visibly drain away.

I'd move him on as I can't see that he'll be at the level we need for the next two seasons at least.
