Not doing a report. Only went as got free tickets. It was better than i thought. We were far better side and missed several decent chances with Chapman main culprit. He was lively but he missed two one on ones. They had a few efforts mostly deflected or headers but Moore made some good saves.

As for players:

Good: Coutts was best midfielder on park. O'Connell and wilson sound. Moore made 3 really good reaction stops. Freeman also played well. Off the bench Brokks was excellent. Few lovely balls with outside of his foot and one bit of skill that sent big lad Wasie-whats his name for tge pies (mind you looks like he has had a few). Showed more in 20 mins than Reed in 2 seasons.

Ok: Done worked hard but no end product. Fleck was neat and tidy but poor set plays. Chapman was bright and got in good positions but needs to work on end product. Sharp did ok but at times hit floor too often.

Poor: Hussey again sadly. Got on ball a lot but barely got one good one in although to be fair was aiming for small players. Defensively stil hesistant. Threw one back from half way putting moore under pressure. Reed was awful throughout. Barely did anything right. Poor touch, bad passes and careless. Duffy was not involved much when he came on. Chapman still looked fresher than him at the end.

Pens were all decent even flecks was not that bad; good save from the big sub keeper who had made some good saves but also had some comedy moments.

It is a waste of time as a competition but it wasnt too bad tonight as a game. It was a better game and performance than the Crewe one. Leicester had a few known players in wasieleicki, hamer, chilwell, james, gray so was not all 'kids.'

Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Eastenders or watching the Blades
Hate mouthy cockneys, Liz MacDonalds a tart and Amos Brearleys dead.
No contest

My take on what i saw, again a game that we should have won,we are missing the killer instinct.

First half was even steven,Sharp missed a sitter.

Second half we dominated and had quite few chances, but did not take them.

Hussey was a great outlet and played well tonite.

Coutts and Fleck worked well in centre midfield aided by Reed,Reed cannot see him getting in the first team tho.

All in all it was a good workout not bothered about losing on pens.

I enjoyed the game but we didn't have a cutting edge. Sharp's mission from six yards almost beat Ronaldo's famous effort for worst miss in that goal. Brooks, Chapman, Coutts had good games, Hussey was better. Does he know that the goalkeeper can't pick the ball up from a throw in though? Moore was pissed off when he threw it to him near the end. Still not sure about Reed, thinks he needs to be loaned out, wasn't that effective in my opinion.
And we'll done to the ballboys, charging to the other end with their flags for the penalty shoot out. One was trying to put off the Leicester players taking the penalty kicks by shining his mobile phone light at them.
Viva Le Checkatrade Trophy!

Poor up front again!! Let's not not give McNulty a chance, let's loan him out to one of our rivals - Sharp could be in for a poor season, gets dropped for Lavery - gets the face on!

I'm just gutted we've got a point was hoping to be out of this joke of a cup ASAP

Oh you won't get out of it that easily. We've now got a point and losing on penalties 'deprived' us of another point. Next up, Walsall at home on October 4 then Grimsby away on November 8. After that, we'll have lost the will to live.

Good chance to let the 'powers-that-be' know what we think of this nonsensical shite. Four days after we play Walsall in the EFL/Checkatrade/Johnstone's/Who-Gives-A-Fuck Trophy (att: 2,763) we play them in the League (att: 19,791), both at BDTBL.

Oh, and Checkatrade have been investigated. It's one of those tedious 'price comparison' sites for dodgy 'tradesmen'. Seems those who are willing/dumb enough to pay the most dough get the highest rankings. Who'da thunk it?

To be honest, I don't think that the league structure is the issue. It's the growing disparity between the top two divisions and everywhere else.
This trophy we played in tonight only serves to add another layer of bullshit geared against the lower leagues.
The growing desire amongst the governing bodies to incorporate B teams into the league, not to mention the proposed inclusion of Rangers and Celtic as well is just a 'fuck you' too far.
The trophy is the most ridiculous idea ever. Rather than allow talented youngsters to get real experience playing in the leagues, this system reinforces that PL teams should keep bloated squads with young players even further away from first team games. Playing in a tournament where crowds are even less than a February Tuesday night game at Morecambe is hardly going to prepare them for playing in front of 10, 20, 30 or 40,000.

More and more players like Deli Alli, Vardy and now Antonio haven't come through the standard Academy structure of the PL giants, they have found their way back to the top division from having to go back down the leagues and work hard at not only been young Millionaires with entourages helping them in their daily lives, but by learning to be adults as well as pampered footballers.

The FA, under Greg Dyke, were convinced by the PL that the way to get England success was to keep the young English players in the Premier League academies whilst creating false opposition for them in competitions like the 5th league or the EFL cup. Forcing the opposition to play their first team in a tournament that they don't want to be in is never going to work. It will however benefit the younger players in the teams like Sheffield United. Will Billy Sharp or Wilson put that tackle in of go for the 30-70 ball in the same way against Leicester U23's as they would against Oxford United? I doubt it

The JPT was never well supported, it was never going to be, it was always going to be a less important cup competition than the League or the FA and League cups. That's just the way it is. However, I accept for many fans it was a chance to get some silverware.

Its like the PL teams are doing all they can to keep their babies in cotton wool. The young Leicester players will believe that they have a 1st team cap from last night, which on paper is correct. However, wouldn't they and the Football league clubs benefit more from them playing in the Football League every week, at least until they are 23/24? If they are good enough, like Vardy, the Championship clubs will buy them and then in turn the Premier League clubs will buy from them.

The PL teams are the only people benefiting from this set up (not just this EFL Cup) because despite the Obscene money which they are receiving from the TV deal, they are also saving money that they should be paying in transfer fees to Football league clubs.

Well .....
Best game I have seen for a while. As two foot says,Brooks came on and really looked the part as did Chapman. But for me Coutts had an excellent game, controlled a lot of the match from centre midfield. Really pleased for him, he's going to be a fan favourite finally.
Another game to build upon I reckon we have turned the corner.
Just need to sign a keeper now to come on for save penaties ....... I wonder what Simonsen is doing these days
We already have a penalty saving keeper

Why has Dion got a python trousered if so how do you know this, or better still were u erd dis pal?? Or is it from personal experience, in fact I'm out of my depth LYDON is ya man

Because I trust Sir Alex Ferguson's one-word assessment of Dion Dublin when he saw him come out of the shower into the changing room.

"Magnificent".

Now that's a dour Scot speaking about a footballer's womb-spanner.

pommpey

The League Cup is now virtually washed up, so what makes the powers that be think that supporters would give a fig about this completion ?. Agree with every word Swiss.

The funny thing is that teams in the PL complain about too many games, hence not giving the priority to the League Cup, yet many of those teams are the ones putting teams into the Shitty EFL Cup.

Teams are pushing for europe, but unless they make the later stages of the European Cup or the Cup Winners cup, they lose money, play additional games and don't make any money out of it. West Ham (not having a go at them) are one of these sides. The Premier League money is now higher than the gains from the European Cup (Champions league), which is why the top sides in Europe are now demanding that UEFA negotiates a better TV deal for Europes top club competition.

It will probably lead to more games...

I find it thoroughly depressing Swiss, hope it all backfires on the greedy bastards sometime in the future. We all aspire to reach the Premier League but deep down its money grubbing ways, forsaking all others disgusts me. Still, when outside businesses are throwing money at them like no tomorrow, they are not going to turn in down.

Glad to see Brooks on the bench, heard good things about this lad, and looks like he is being rewarded.

I went because i like watching football. And United...........Fuck Politics End of.

I know that's why you went and that is fine but when we're playing B teams in the league it will be your fault.

Now I'm happy to admit that I don't know what the process would be for introducing reserve teams into the FL and am happy to be corrected, but surely all clubs involved would have a say and a vote? Surely it can't literally be a case of the FL just telling clubs that this is what's going to happen so put up or shut up? It seems that clubs have been steam rolered into this competition (don't know if there was a vote or not) but the constitution of the league must surely be different and need agreement from a majority? I would imagine that most FL clubs would be against this idea and therefore vote against it. If clubs vote in favour of the integration of reserve teams then it will be their fault and not the fault of the fans who have turned out to watch the EFL Cup.

FFS are you 5 years old?

I bet your dads bigger than mine.

Don't understand, I'm not trying to one-up anybody or trying to be better then anybody am I?
Just pointing out the fact that I think will be true if B teams get into league football.

the comment " when we are playing B Teams it will be your fault"

What a childish load of bollocks. There will be far more people up the chain to blame than a supporter choosing to watch the game on Tuesday night.

If you dont stop posting nasty things i will tell my mummy on you........ FFS
