I'm sure the arguments are that "people are on holiday" but it's a bit tough. I'd rather be sitting in BDTBL in an August evening than a February one!

We played 4 league gamesin September. people aren`t on holiday THAT much in September. Even if you take a couple of weeks out for JPT and the League cup, thats 2 midweeks sitting there spare.

HEY!, Diego might finally get a game... ;)

We had about half an hour of blue sky this afternoon but the wind's really picked up now. Saw a few people have their feet took from under them in town.

Hatches being battened up here.

We had a quick burst of glorious sunshine for twenty minutes or so here in Barnsley.

It now looks like the opening scenes of Great Expectations.

Don't hatches get battened down? Either way, get them closed....

They've just had a 'wind inspection' at the Britannia Stadium.

And the Man City match has gone for a burton.

The game will almost certainly be off

This is Good ITK from someone on the staff, he's never been wrong about this sort of thing before, He says, the club have been informed that the rain tomorrow is not the only worry but the Police are seriously concerned about the "damaging" winds forecast to be due for the Sheffield area between 4pm and midnight, if the forecast still stands tomorrow morning the Police will call the game off.

Now I don't know about you but I can just about accept the game being called off for a waterlogged pitch but if it's called off for a bit of wind I will be royally pissed off.

Everton and Man City games called off due to dangerous high winds, ours would have gone the same way without the water logging, 98mph gust of wind just been recorded at high bradfield..ok I accept this is more than just "a bit" of wind.

Manchester City = Tin pot
Everton = Tin pot
Stoke = Delayed, but most likely Tin pot

Manchester City have said the match was fine to go ahead from a footballing standpoint. Police called it off for safety reasons because a wall was blown over outside the ground.

None of ours blew over (yet).

Man City's pitch isn't a swamp so swings and roundabouts.

I haven't seen it myself, but then ours with approximately 20 million less artificial fibres (City also have a Desso pitch - Note the pattern emerging here) and without the luxury of having drainage and footings built to modern day standards, has had as much play this evening.

We don't need winter breaks. How many games do we miss in an average season 2 or 3? I also think the season starts too early as well.

My suggestion is to look to reduce the leagues down from 24 teams in three divisions, down to four divisions of 18 teams. That way you could plan fewer games in feb, no games on 3rd, 4th and 5th round fa cup weekends. That would free up Saturdays of rearranging games which you lose to the weather.

The teams wouldn't vote for the reduction in revenue that would come from 6 less home games.

Can we get one of these covers? this is off Crawley site

"We will also be using an elevated pitch cover measuring 24 metres x 6 metres so we can continue to work on sections of the pitch even if it is raining. We have also been loaned six giant industrial fans by London Cool which will also assist in drying out problem areas."

I heard we didn't want Brentford game on as NC wants to beat Forest sunday with a full strength size. But thats just chinese whispers.
