[MATCH OFF] Weather threat to Burton game

winter break would have to be feb. in this country that's when we get the most snow..

It is going to be in Feb (been agreed in principle by PL clubs) but it's nothing to do with the weather as football won't actually stop. It's just to give the players a rest.

They're just going to move the FA Cup 5th round forward a few days, scrap replays at that stage and stagger 1 weekend's PL games over 2 weeks. It will mean all PL clubs get a 2 week(ish) break.

i'm in mild agreement with that. they should scrap the league cup as well while they are at it. or make it champ to league2 only

And the forecast has changed again and all that snow has gone.

It would have been stupid to call it off at 12.00 on Saturday but surely Friday tea time would have been fine an Burton could have been told not to travel until a decision was made. Did they really need 48 hours notice?

It will look a stupid decision on Saturday with just the odd patch of snow on a few footpaths.

Do you think that would have mattered at all if it had been on TV and we were getting £100k for it?

Boro v Leeds tonight hasn't been called off yet (and it's snowed again up there) so if they can leave that until late on, why couldn't we?

It's an absolute kick in the teeth for lower league clubs as per usual. Imagine if Rochdale had gone out on pens, missed out on £1m and a trip to Wembley so Dele Alli could play in a friendly in Miami or somewhere. Fantastic for football...

Meanwhile at Fox Towers, we're into day 2 without water to the bathroom and Foxy has been instructed to have a shit at work.

You wouldn't want to sit next to us at BDTBL as we're relying on wet wipe washes :D

Who by?

Well our snow levels in LS27 have gone down by about 2" overnight.

Unless there is more snow tonight (which is a possibility according to the forecast) then the decision to call the game off yesterday could look pretty stupid by 1pm on Saturday.

My lads' school decided last night that they wouldn't be opening in the morning. This morning, all the roads were clear and there was no reason at all they couldn't have opened.

I understand making an early decision if, for example, there's loads of travelling involved but in the cases of SUFC and the school, I thought both could've waited without causing any major issues.

Instead of having a chance to consolidate a place in the playoff positions this weekend, we now may find ourselves as low as 10th after Tuesdays games and 5 points off the playoffs.

Looking like an unnecessary early decision all things considered, and by tomorrow I believe it will look slightly embarrassing to have a P at the side of our game.

The excuses and support for the postponement I've seen and heard are weak imho.

The only one evidently capable of filling a bucket in the kitchen sink to cart upstairs and flush it!

Any prospect of this deteriorating into another porno thread with pictures of scantily clad weather girls have now gone.

We all have images of Foxy on the bog, with Linz helpfully flushing turds away for England.

Thanks for that!

But I might slip & hurt myself
Can't YOU do it - after all you like walking in the snow despite your age, fucked knees & dodgy back

That's my point, what's a bit of fucking snow? I've got the agility and balance of a goat me (a three-legged one anyway).

Wonder if the club has any idea how many of us have to tear up our advanced train and plane tickets and getting back from a Tuesday night match is near impossible so we don't go to the rearranged game. If the pitch ends up being playable seems like an over reaction to cancel so early. I just don't buy all this someone might slip or fall stuff, its life, just put up signs saying its at your own risk. Just don't cancel when we are half way there.

Why do the club never appeal to fans to help?

I think we're going to be looking just a little bit tinpot come tomorrow afternoon.

Oh people like you can get fucked mate.

You need to think more about the poor bastards who might have to walk 100 yards to get the bus because it's a bit tricky getting their car off their road.

And don't forget the inconvenience of having to consider suitable footwear.

What about all those people who will struggle to get refunds due to the boxing being cancelled at the Arena........

Game on, game off. Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?

Some people are taking this way too seriously.

Its because the club has done absolutely nothing to get the game on.
We could be 5 points outside the play offs coming out of London Tuesday.

4-5" inches of snow in Bristol today, City have just announced the Wed game will go ahead.
Boro & Forest have all staff helping clearing the areas for their respective games.

We just gave everyone 3 days off and postponed it.

Pathetic.

I`ll be walking round The Moor tomorrow with Mrs Treeton, in sunshine and melted ice.
