OK then, it's a given that come the pre-season and/or JTW, we offload either one of our more saleable assets or one of the up and coming juniors. The excuses are already in the bank (i.e. to fund the purchases, stem the losses, can't deny the lad a career step-up etc.). So who's it going to be? My money's on Coutts, simply because he's one of our better players and has slipped under the radar somewhat amidst all the rumours.

Fleck and Sharp will attract the most interest followed by JOC and Freeman.

Billy ont' final day to Bristol City for 450k.

Brooks may go.

The upcoming Walker money may save us from losing anyone else this summer.

We'll get £3.5m from the Walker sale, but that won't be enough so we'll sell Brooks before the season starts. Then as an afterthought we'll take a few grand from Bournemouth for Tyler Smith when he starts showing too much promise in the U23s to be kept at the club.

JOC is for sure a promising prospect, young, strong, got experience and has been a captain. I don't see us selling anyone for cheap. Also hoping excuses are in the past, if the offer was to good to refuse then just say that, no need for any bs.

The bigger question is, do we still have to demonstrate the usual perfunctory faux-paternalistic bullshit by wishing said 'lad' the best of luck?

Guess that would depend on whether he comes out with the usual rhetoric about moving for opportunities/best for his career blah blah.

If he comes out and says: "fuck that, I left for the cash" - then yes, I'll wish him all the best.

What a misleading thread title, I thought I'd finally found that marquee I've been looking to purchase!!

I agree, one of the triumvirate will go - Coutts, Fleck or Duffy.

Anyway, if this is a wind up thread did anyone see Rammy Ramsdale's save for the England u-19s?

Wind up? More like stating the bleedin' obvious. I was actually expecting a few pelters but it seems from the replies so far that fatalism is about the only thing we can all agree upon.

Can't see Coutts attracting that much interest, he's nearly 29 and hasn't particularly pulled up any trees at Championship level.

Fleck is the main worry for me, we need to offer him a good Championship wage if we want to keep him long term or at least get a Championship level fee for him e.g. £6m - £8m.

Brooks seems the most likely as things stand.

Well the extension was triggered on Freeman's contract, but there's been nothing on him being offered new terms.

Brooks will likely go but we will wait till January to sell a first teamer.

It's a nightmare, Bert is sending his season ticket back even though it hasn't arrived yet.

Brooks is a cert to go I think.

I would not be at all surprised to see a Birmingham or Wolves come in for Fleck, and the revelation of a Kevin Macdonald like hidden release clause in his contract being revealed.

The moaners are really enjoying this close season , United not won a game since April so it fair game to stick the boot in , the fact we havent played any games , well thats just being picky .

Lets have a go at McCabe for cashing in on players we havent sold , and complain about only cherry picking the best players from several clubs as they werent championship clubs.
And that Wilders lost the plot as hes not paid 6 nm for a player yet, which is what you must do at least 3 of them to compete, even though Huddersfield or Brighton did not need to , just lucky they were
