Can't see Coutts attracting that much interest, he's nearly 29 and hasn't particularly pulled up any trees at Championship level.
Fleck is the main worry for me, we need to offer him a good Championship wage if we want to keep him long term or at least get a Championship level fee for him e.g. £6m - £8m.
YES,
Let's say Fleck is on £7K a week then how much would you offer?
What's a good Championship wage?
If you rate him at £8 million then no doubt his agent will be saying the same and demanding £20K a week. If we pay that's then expect other players to want their money doubling. Morale amongst players could suffer if we have massive pay swings amongst players.
Just think if last season was a bit of a fluke for Fleck.
If we pay him £20K a week he might lose his desire and struggle in the Championship.
Then when we have loads of debt our fans will be questioning the madness in paying unproven players so much.
Common sense says let's see how the players cope and produce at Championship level
Then wait until Jan18 at the earliest to discuss contracts.
I'm sure there will be some big surprises next season.
Some players who were great last season are going to really struggle losing form and confidence.
Whereas others will come from no where (like Jake Wright) and do well.
