No-one’s saying CW should be paid the same as Guardiola, unless I’ve missed it. But even doing so wouldn’t bankrupt the club whilst it’s in the Premier League

Arsenal - Agree 100% he wouldn't be in the top 10 candidates.
West Ham - Will try for Rafa, if they can't afford him Chris Houghton is already making it known he wants it and Dyche would also fit. They'll put out Wilder's name because he's getting some press and if any board loves cheap publicity it's them.
Everton - I think they'll bring someone in till the end of the season or I'd put Dyche/Howe way ahead of Wilder in that race.

If they both turn it down (Dyche 100% won't) then it's a possibility however I honestly don't think he'd look to go at the moment, and the most likely outcome is Chris gets himself a deserved new contract.

The original post I quoted was saying it, not Guardiola per se, but daft figures in general. It's possible but not affordable, feasible or realistic for a club of our size. If we reach the heights of Man City, Spurs, Arsenal in the other areas then yes but right now, no. A decent contract improvement would be well deserved though.
 
With a name like Chris Wilder, no "big" club will go for him, however if he gets a tan, changes his name to Christiando del Wildeano he will be beating them off with a stick.

Cant beleav Wilder will go anywhere until his mission is completed if ever there was such a time.
He would go if he felt he and the club was stagnating and that I not necessarily about money.
Sometimes a change of direction a new manager would bring can be beneficial.
I would hope if that happened Wilder would have an input on who would come in. After all he is first and foremost a blade and the future would be as important to him as all
of us.

can't see it .. the clubs involved are too billy big bollocks to consider our Chris. plus when he got there he'd encounter a bunch of has beens with a show me your medals attitude

C'mon ... we're a club built on opportunity, good fortune and canny resource with proven success under firm board stewardship.

So, Wilder off to Arsenal as soon as possible, then.

It's the Blades mentality though. For decades we've been told we are potless (by McCabe). We're all aware of the riches we've now got. The club doesn't need to scrimp like it has done before.

Wilder strikes me as a man who doesn't want to chase the money. He has a dream to get the club he supported and played for to the very top. He's driven by sheer desire to win. Not by how much Cash he can trouser. He still catches the odd bus and drinks in the local pubs. He is miles away from the manager that Everton or West Ham want. Straight talker who wouldn't hesitate to tell the chairman what they don't want to hear.
 
I was having this very discussion with some Everton fans I know and they think that although he would be a good choice, they can’t see him leaving the blades as he’s really starting to take us to the next level!!😀. They also think their board are too narrow minded which is probably true considering that moyes and Rafa have suddenly emerged as targets today🙄😂😂. UTB ⚔️⚔️⚔️
 
I think the other part of the equation, is he needs 'his' team of players round him, who are hungry and would run through a wall for him.
If he went to Man U etc , they would just act up like they have for other people. Meaning he'd have to do a major clear out and re-recruit. Is that what he would want to do, or the new club be able to cope with?
 
May be totally unconnected to the current glut of managers under pressure but BHA have extended Potter's contract to 2025. Maybe they considered him a West Ham target.

I would not be surprised if we announced a contract extension of our own in the near future. If nothing else it puts the compensation figure up.
 
I can’t see Wilder leaving for anyone other than Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal or Chelsea - and it’s extremely unlikely any of those would move for him.

Still think we should extend and improve his contract though.
 
Unless a ‘big six’ side comes calling Wilder isn’t going to leave us until he feels he’s he’s taken us as far as he can. Jobs at places like West Ham are largely an irrelevance for now.

One thing I am certain of is I have far more confidence in the current owners in terms of doing what is required to keep hold of Wilder than the previous regime. We don’t need to keep giving him a new contract every time another Premier League manager gets sacked though. He already signed a new one in the summer.
 
West Ham? No chance.

if Everton appoint Moyes as an interim until the summer then that might be more of a possibility him going there then.

i can imagine actually... everytime on footy manager game i get the blades to the top and i never leave... if you are a blade and you are making yourself a legend, then why the hell would you? any manager with confidence in their abilities (in real life footy) and a love for their club knows this is IT in terms of the dream, straight to the top and into those history books as one of the greats. Now get that statue in the car park sorted asap!

That’s doesn’t make sense, we’ve already extended his contract and given him a big pay rise too.
We don’t want Wilder being Mark Duffyesque expecting pay rises every few months.

In Wilders own words, he’s done nothing yet.....wait until the season is over making sure we’re still in the PL before looking at any contracts.

Also to be honest giving Wilder a pay rise and contract extension achieves nothing.
Half the premium league could still come along and offer a huge pay rise, regardless of what we offer.

Again in Wilders ownwords, being at a club shouldn‘t be all about money. Wilder doesnt want mercenaries.
Another Wilder quote is “produce the goods first...then the financial rewards will come”.

Extending his contract makes perfect sense and would increase the compensation we get if he did leave. Not that I expect him to leave any time soon.
