Outgoing? Man Utd poaching our youth?

Indeed.

Man City have a development squad that play at Hillsborough College, my son's side played them the other year and lost 7-1 to them. We need to make that step up otherwise our best talent will be taken away every year.

True but we also need to accept that in our position it's inevitable that our best players may get poached by the biggest clubs in the country. What we need to do, IMHO, is develop a good working relationship with the Manchester clubs so when they shed players at the end of each year the better ones get recommended to us.

Not doubting that at all BB, what I was trying to say is the higher we are the less chance there is of clubs like Man Utd getting our talent.

Your last sentence would be very ideal and will hopefully put an end to the shite we've had of them over the years.

Our issue hasn't been permanents (Whiteman and Brooks look OK); it's been terrible loans (Cofie anyone?). Hopefully with contacts in the hierarchies at both clubs we can get recommendations about players who City and Newton Heath (Y&LR) think might make it but maybe not at the elite level.

Good points. I obviously didn't mean Whiteman or Brooks, they both have talent, especially Brooks. We all know who the shite has been and there hasn't only been Cofie. :)

He doesn't leave until February so I hope he hasn't started taking our players yet :D

Luke is one of the most hard working people I've ever met. He's a big loss to our academy in my opinion and will be difficult to replace.

Links like this with Man U for Parkhouse are inevitable, but it's the players who are younger which are even easier to take. We have some excellent players in our age groups and the Cat 1 clubs are tracking them constantly. Man City especially are at alot of SDJSFL matches now.
The answer to that is stop everyone except parents and club officials watching academy games. At Brrentford , when still there, andOxford nobody else is allowed on site. Also the kids don't wear numbers or kit with their initials on so they can't be identified.

That is very lad if indeed the like of City can send scouts to watch our academy games as it doesn't happen at most places.

These two quotes basically sum up how delicate the situation is. You need to keep a relationship with them so that you can pick up the 'nearly there's' but you don't want to lose your best players. You'd be surprised how much work we do looking to pick up the players who are getting released at the top of the ladder.

They will know about our players whether they come and watch our academy or not because they build strong links with other academies who will no doubt feed anything back after games. It's virtually impossible to stop.

Also during the same meet at the end of last year, the staff including KM said that it wouldn't matter if we had a class 1 academy as other class 1's could still take your players.
And according to the Wiki entry you can't stop a class 1 academy watching your players as long as they give 48 hours notice.
