Just got back from a week in Malta, and was amazed how many people knew of Sheffield United. Walked in bars and restaurants, and when they saw the shirt or tattoos they always mentioned it, with Bogdanovich always the main subject. Got back to the airport and Bogdanovich was stood behind us in the queue for our flight. Nice guy and gave the thumbs up to my mates lad wearing his shirt and posed for photos no problem. PS, great place Malta, get over there, the Maltese people are the friendliest I have ever come across, and fly Air Malta.

?????????????????????

I think it my have been a subtle suggestion that your post was a plant on behalf of the club sponsors, who are Malta based and promote holidays on the island.

It is probable that the widespread fame of SUFC on Malta is on no small way due to the missionary and publicity work carried out in late 2005 by Fleetwood Blade (now Jim Chimmerney) and myself.

If you recall, the team were due to travel to Malta for an autumn break and the club was offering travel packages to fans. Fleety and I, who'd never met, both knew better and both made our own travel arrangements, and entirely separate from the official package.

No sooner had we booked than the club trip was cancelled and full refunds offered to the savvy fans who'd booked the official package. No such luck for the two clever dicks who decided they could do it better themselves and who found themsleves stuck with the arrangements.

Fleety ended up there for the week with Mrs Fleety and friends. I was there for a few days and was combining it with work anyway and a lttle bit of failed industrial espionage.

The highlight of the visit for me was sitting in a bar in Sliema or St Julians with Fleety and watching W*dnesday get hammered at home by Cardiff.

As somebody else on BU observed some years back, Malta needs pointing.

No matter how often repeated, I think I will never tire of that story Trig.

And something I've always wondered but never asked; which one of you was Bob Ferris and which was Terry Collier?

I am 1/16th Maltese. Does that qualify me to play for them? If boggy does, i've got to have a shot....

I may have mentioned it in passing at some point, but often repeated? Really? I think it may even be its first outing on this board, though it surely won't be the last now I've got the hang of this cut and pasting business.

I might give the story about taking next door's cat to Shrewsbury if you don't stop taking the wet.

Bob and Terry were before my time :-)

It's Bob/Terry who I keep dragging it out of ........
