I think it my have been a subtle suggestion that your post was a plant on behalf of the club sponsors, who are Malta based and promote holidays on the island.
It is probable that the widespread fame of SUFC on Malta is on no small way due to the missionary and publicity work carried out in late 2005 by Fleetwood Blade (now Jim Chimmerney) and myself.
If you recall, the team were due to travel to Malta for an autumn break and the club was offering travel packages to fans. Fleety and I, who'd never met, both knew better and both made our own travel arrangements, and entirely separate from the official package.
No sooner had we booked than the club trip was cancelled and full refunds offered to the savvy fans who'd booked the official package. No such luck for the two clever dicks who decided they could do it better themselves and who found themsleves stuck with the arrangements.
Fleety ended up there for the week with Mrs Fleety and friends. I was there for a few days and was combining it with work anyway and a lttle bit of failed industrial espionage.
The highlight of the visit for me was sitting in a bar in Sliema or St Julians with Fleety and watching W*dnesday get hammered at home by Cardiff.
As somebody else on BU observed some years back, Malta needs pointing.
