It’s high time someone other than a manager that’s been in charge for a few weeks, stuck their neck out and did something to halt this depressing malaise that the club has seemingly been strangled by for the last 18 months. The manager and the players have all of my support and I will continue to back them as I can see that 100% application and effort is there. I can’t fault anyone on the football side of things for effort or a will to succeed, but it has become blindingly apparent that we simply aren’t good enough to achieve the goals set out by the club..........

For some time I have campaigned for patience and for fans to see the bigger picture but I’m afraid there is a line and to go down with a whimper against a very ordinary Watford side at home tells us everything we need to know. The facts are that we can’t score; we’re capable of conceding and have a manager that is so lacking in viable options to alter things that he may as well throw the towel in if he doesn’t get any help. That performance today was utterly devoid of any creativity, ideas or inspiration and if we’re honest, has been for some time.

I’m deeply disappointed and disillusioned tonight as things just seem to go from ordinary to garbage, back to ordinary and then garbage again. I’m all for patience and giving the “new culture” time to bed in, but if Speed is working with nothing but second rate players and no money, how is he ever going to move us forward. The whole club to a man is to blame.....boardroom right down and I don’t point to anyone in particular. It is a culmination of events, actions and poor judgment that have led to where we are and I find it utterly depressing.

I said before the game that Watford would be no pushovers and they weren’t. They certainly looked a damn site better than us and deserved their win IMO. But to lose 1-0 and not even threaten their goal is abysmal at home. We’re simply not good enough and the lack of goals is the biggest concern. No it is not time to panic, I’m not saying it is.....but we have scored five goals.....count em - 5! That is the mark of a side in big trouble no matter how you spin it. A relegation fight is by no means something we should expect, but there is absolutely no reason why we should rule it out. Based on what I’ve seen and the goals scored column, we’re as poor as any of the other strugglers and will soon find the going very tough if we don’t do something about it!

As for me, I will continue to turn out and encourage the lads but if we have a full season of this expect to be watching third tier football next season because worse sides have gone down. I sincerely hope not as I love the club dearly and want the best for them. But what I saw today is as lacklustre as anything I’ve ever seen and I’ve been going a long time. It was total and utter nothingness – best way to describe it actually. Just nothing!

All I can plead is that those of you who are going.....keep turning out. This lot need all the support they can get because this is going to be a rough rough ride!

The problem is these days that the players earn such an unrealistic wage compared to the job they do that the ordinary supporter (like most of us) are really beginning to question how long we can stomach putting our hands in our pockets and supporting players hwo do not deserve to be paid that much to produce so little.

Professional football is an entertainment industry. This is prugatory not entertainment.
Most of us have to graft all week in jobs we do because they pay the bills not because it is the job we have always wanted to do.
We hope our team does well and we support them as a release because we play out our own aspirations vicariously through them.
When it's a case of flitting between average and garbage you have to question what else you can do.

Football is on a downward slope and The Blades are ahead of the curve on this one.
We are in for one long, shite season and a real battle for survival.
At the moemnt I am looking hard but there is no light at the end of this tunnel

I agree with alot of what you say, and would put it alot stronger in terms of your general commenst tbh but were we really that bad today? We were far better imo than we were against pompey. Doesn't mean owt though and we are still obviously a very, very poor side but I reckon we deserved a draw today against the mighty Watford. Here's to an exciting relegation scrap. Palace, Scunny and one other for me.

Does that mean we are further down the slope ?

Or

On the curve not having seen the slope

Or

Are you just talking bollocks

Thank God no-one expects us to become world beaters overnight

No. But I would expect a certain degree of competency and positivity in the tactics.
Why do you think those that are expressing deep concern expect us to be Arsenal, Man U or Chelsea?
We only expect a professional competence.

A slope doesn't have to be X = -Y

I think fooballs bubble skin is very, very thin.
The Blades are suffering from the general malaise, are a dull as dish water and have little or no resources to address the slide. We are like a mouse sliding down a razor blade using it's balls as block stops.
No chance of scoring and getting sliced open.

Its a good job no one does BOS because if they did we would have even less people coming through the gate. Ive already said that I dont expect promotion this season and I dont even expect a top six finish but I do expect a level of performance that warrants the amount of money fans fork out year-on-year.

Whether you're going through a period of transition or not, games at home to your Watford's and Scunthorpe's of this world should be bread and butter. If you are to be beaten by them, you should be beaten by a stroke of fortune or an individual error. You should not be soundly and deservedly beaten by them.....not at Bramall Lane!

I accept that we're not good enough and I accept that it is going to take time to develop a better team, but while we're embarking on this journey we have to pick up points and we certainly have to grab as many as we can at home. We've already lost THREE home games! For a side that once held its home ground as a fortress and has built up a reputation for being fearsome at home, that is absolutely appauling! Its not one person's fault in my view. As I said, its the whole club.....going backwards and looking the other way. If it continues, more supporters will as well.

Absolutely correct SCB. We have played one good team at BDTBL and look what happened there.
