Absolutely delighted if this is true.

The club now has an opportunity to recruit a Chief Exec or Footballing Director that has experience and contacts within the game. Look at the Pigs and how Glenn Roeder has helped get some real quality in, we need a similar appointment that can tell Nigel to wind his neck in the next time he asks for another Hammond or Woolford.

Totally agree.
Hopefully the new guy will have some clue as to how much a player is worth rather than just shell out the clubs cash based on how well a player was performing 3 years ago or before he snapped that cruciate ligament falling down the steps outside the nightclub.

For fucks sake any player looking for a contract should make sure he is fitter than the twat he is to replace. First rule is be fit, ready and available. No club should waste money on a player who is too idle to keep himself fit.

Your main Ability should be your Availability .....................

Copyright = some talking head on the NFL last night :)

I've still not seen it confirmed that Brannigan has gone - have the club announced it yet? As to what/who will replace him I don't know ( The Stir is talking about Adkins' people in talks with Leicester and Fulham re signings). Whether the club go down the Director of Football route remains to be seen or whether there will be a straight replacement for Brannigan (if so we need a Dooley) or just a backroom Manager. I think Brannigan's card was marked towards the end of last season when JP said that they were reviewing the back office as well as the coaching staff.

The timing is unfortunate as the recruitee will hardly have time to get their feet under the desk before the JTW Nevertheless this does represent an opportunity to get a decent long term structure in place, not only to deal with scouting, player recruitment etc, but also the general operation of the club. Something tells me, however, that the club will make the same mistakes and appoint an Adkins man who will go if Adkins doesn't survive. The club needs to look longer term than that. God knows why, but Dave Kitson springs to mind as a possible.

It's lack of match fitness that's the problem, Hammond simply wasn't playing enough. It doesn't really matter what a players does or doesn't do to keep fit, if he isn't running round in a competitive match for 90 minutes week in week out his fitness will suffer and take a while to return. Hammond's age compounds the issue as it will take longer to get fit.

All that being said, he has had plenty of time now and still seems a bit off the pace. Maybe his legs are going? Still reckon he'll be a good player to have around though and would rather see others shifted out first.

“There are over 40 professionals at the club, including the under-21s, and that’s too many,” Adkins said.

A ridiculous amount for a league 1 club. Well done Clough and Brannigan.

How much responsibility did Mal have in terms of retaining our players? I just picked up on something Carlos Carvalhal said a week or so ago, that nobody will be sold in the JTW. Quite a statement to be able to make, when you listen to what Phipps has said in the past when players have left. Being new to the game, was he too easily sold on the idea that a player couldn't be "convinced" to stay?

Was it not Dave Green who had the say in Danny Wilson getting sacked?

Where does this leave Dave Mac one wonders?

Dave Green been a director before.

Blame game being played out over responsibilities for signing players. Not up to the job or funds severely restricted for deals.

Or a combination of the two?

Was Dave Green the slightly large gentleman who owned that carpet shop up Woodseats?...

We've a massive squad full of shite.

We can't buy players because of the above

We can't sell players because of the above.

Clough and Brannigan responsible, so out they go. Thanks for what you've left, chaps. Good luck Burton.

Heard somebody say at the Oldham match that there's a shareholders meeting scheduled for next Saturday, wonder if the timing of the changes is linked to that in some way?

David Green was the FC Chairman when Weir was appointed, he owns Greenpiling a foundations company.

Commenting on the changes, Co-Chairmen Kevin McCabe and Jim Phipps said:

"To get Sheffield United back on track, change is needed. We know and trust David and Martin. We value their opinions and know they will be unflinching in helping us confront the need to change within the Club. We hope supporters welcome these appointments together with Simon and Carl, to get this great Club back where we all want it to be."

As I said, Team Kev is taking over again.

Bet Mrs McCabe said " just when I thought he was out, they drag him back in"

We have had these restructures practically once a season since we were relegated to this league and nothing changes.
