Well I'm just gutted.

I'm going to struggle to come to terms with the absence of his masterful transfers.

Surely this was long overdue.

I wouls describe his tenure as MD as a failure.

Crap players on long contracts and better players leaving.

Is there something bigger going on at the Lane? It seems to me that Kev is getting more of his people in. Is it boiling down to the clash of the Titans? Kev's used car salesmen vs Princey's international wonders? They need to have it near home. Dubai?

These are like the heady appointments of a club resigned to lower league football.

Nice to have David Green back. He's done so much great work in the past....

How much do you think l "just having him around" is worth? £12,000 a week?

Well if that's what we are paying then I suppose he would need to justify a starting 11 spot, with outstanding performances. Obviously we aren't getting that at the minute. I just feel he is getting better though and will become a key player, just a hunch mind. Also don't think he is half as bad as some make out.

Have a feeling that we will see more changes before January is over. The prince cannot keep putting money in and allow McCabe to manage it. History confirms
McCabe had no,idea about football related matters
Partnerships do not work.

The prince must realise this and surely cannot continue to put money in, without overall control

He's improving, and is okay. But before people throw things around like "we should get a DOF", and "they are good to have around", it should always be considered that each of these decisions sometimes cost over a half a million quid a year, and that's money that can't be spent elsewhere.

Too true mate, that's why I don't run a football club, outside of Fifa at least o_O

If this means Adkins and Turnbull have more input it could be a good move. They've found some good players out of nowhere before, although we could get more of the same like in August. However, I'm willing to put that down to a lack of time. Turnbull wasn't in until quite late on and Adkins just seemed to be going for who he knew from experience due to time shortage.

This is all extremely worrying, they are all clearly McCabes men and it seems to me that the Prince has had no input. This is the McCabe who has overseen the many debacles of the last decade.

Does this preface an exit by the Prince because as a few have pointed out he'd be mad to throw more good money after bad to see it wasted. Also Phipps who is very active on social media has made no comment on these appointments.

More announcements afoot I think

Agree Bertie, co-ownership can not and will never work, difficult to judge from the outside exactly what's going on & will be interesting to examine the published accounts - out next week.

If it were you or I then can not see how the Prince can let others "manage" his investment.

I don't understand the vitriol towards Brannigan. In backing Clough he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.

In which specific transfers or Windows did he fail? And at one point do we blame the Nigel's for some very poor buys?

Are we any better off tonight with him gone? Possibly? But with any certainty?

McCabe sold the Prince half a bottle of snake oil for 20 Million.
I can't see the Prince buying the other half.
He has wasted his money as surely as if he had built a Palace of Ice out in the desert.
The club is so badly run that another 20 Million would make no difference at all.
The whole lot of them in the boardroom are clueless.

Trevor Birch was, and is, a bad insolvency practitioner

Currently "helping" Bolton Wanderers.

I wonder if they will be releasing great statements about needing to be self sustaining and that the era of the big spending owner is now over.

Clough was also very critical of the club (Brannigan?) leaving it too late to replace key players in the last Summer transfer window.
See this post from UnitedBlade in September 2014:-

http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/clough-says-get-new-players.36100/page-2

<< I’m not sure if you’ve heard Clough’s interview but the following are more or less verbatim comments:-

“… need some help in the centre half department, we’ve been talking about this since Harry Maguire left….”
“… keep lamenting massive losses of Brayford and Maguire…. replacements not as good…”
“..should have set the ball rolling in May to replace these two. We made some late bids on transfer deadline day, we don’t like doing business that late. We should have been more planned and measured over the summer – we shouldn’t have left it that late..”
“…want physical presence from senior players..”
“..want people who can defend better than we currently are…” >>

Just because Clough had worked with Brannigan before, it doesn't mean that he personally appointed him to the board.
Clough said that he wasn't involved in that decision and I for one believe him.
It seems clear that Brannigan tried to drag his heels last Summer in the hope of snagging a last-minute bargain.
Did he do that of his own accord or was he acting on the instructions of others from above him?
