Any ideas?

Calum Scanlon on loan from Liverpool would be my preferred pick, but looks like Cardiff interested. But we may be able to hijack it based on McCallums injury.

Alternatively my other pick would be Lino Sousa on loan from Villa.

However we're now 11 points off playoffs with 17 games remaining. Would be fine if we just kept our powder dry and let Burrows play all remaining games tbh.

I'd be alright with powering through with Burrows and (occasionally) putting Tanganga or asking Hoever to manage.

If we want someone on loan, I think Sam Byram might be available.

I’ve always felt that RND needs games to get into form he’d fit in well back home he’s not my favourite player but if he’s in good form he’d do well I’m sure

Just checked on FOTMOB. We'd lose a LOT of attacking potential going with RND, but then, maybe that's just the way he's being asked to play at QPR.

I think given his injury history RND needs to see out a full season elsewhere and away from the crap he got from our fans during the Selles experiment.

Good shouts but the worst idea is to rely on Burrows and have no cover.
If we do that - as a Blade - you surely know exactly what will happen.

Doubt we're considering a recall, but Jili Buyabu seems to have done well at Forest Green. 5 goals and 5 assists in 14 starts.
Playing right wing though, when I saw him. Cutting inside onto his left. Brooks-esque player but smaller frame, faster(?).

If we ever decide that we want to embrace the crazy idea of using pace he might have a future with us.
Take your point, and I'd love to see it, but it'd need a substantial rebuild, not just bringing in one quick player. Imagine Ings trying keep up with Brooks and Siriki on a break. Yesterday, Cannon was away on the break and no-one had the pace to make up the ground needed to allow the move to continue, so he ran towards the corner of their box, got swamped, had to turn back and play a ball back towards our half.

Aaand , as we saw with Oli Burke, pace doesn't make a player. The likelihood of us being able to purposefully, by design, transition into a 'team with pace' is low IMO.

It might happen, by chance - right player(s), right club(s), right agent(s), right division(s), right skill set(s), right timing, right contact expirations(s), right transfers out, but look at all the things that have to go right for it to happen. And that's not mentioning fees and or wages. You see my point.

My original post was slightly tongue in cheek and I agree with you, but two points:

1. If we decided that we wanted to utilise pace it would have to be by design and planned for, it won’t just happen by accident.

2. I’m not saying you’re doing this, but when I posted I expected an Oli Burke comment before too long. That is not a reason that we should never again consider signing quick players.

Yep, 100% agree.

I do wonder though. Does (can?) an entrenched manager deliberately pivot to a new way or does a transition come about because all or a sudden, they have 3 or 4 players, by chance, that suit a certain style?

It's easy to imagine, for example, that a new manager could come in and, given direction, from owners or a DoF, build a pacy / combative / possession oriented and that could happen - Manager on a 4 year contract has time to build.

In the other hand, do Managers, in the modern day, have the luxury of time and job security to tinker and build to change a style, mid contract? Not saying it can't happen, but added to all the other variables, it must be a nightmare.

Chances are it would solidify that side though and give Seriki even more license to attack if we can go to a back three in possession of Tanganga/ Bindon/ RND.

The idea of a DOF/wider footballing in steering group is that you can build a club with a personality independent of the managers identify, but it only works if you then recruit managers that fit that profile and give them the tools to work how they work best.

Selles has been a brilliant scapegoat but the issues with this summer go far beyond the half a dozen games he was in charge for.

As the time passed, where we can recall RND, isn't there some kind of time during month, where you can't recall a player, dint forest have one with bindon, or have I got it wrong?

There’s no standard contract, it will depend what the clubs agreed. Even if it’s not in the contract QPR could agree to return him if we pay a fee (this is very unlikely though).
