Fascinating thread this. It's not very often that you get the majority of people on here agreeing on something, but there was almost universal agreement that Lundstram wasn't good enough. And those who held that opinion then had some good reasons for justification. I've never been a big fan of Lundstram - mainly because I believe he looked slow and ponderous and his game seemed to consist of a million very short passes and the occasional misfired long range Hollywood ones. Apart from being physically slow, he's looked mentally slow to me as well. Which isn't a great combination.
This season he's surprised everyone by holding down a place in our first team. He's done very well to take this opportunity and in a few games he's looked a lot more capable and comfortable than he did at any stage before. I think the lad deserves some credit for sticking in there and showing a lot of maturity and improving his game. However, I won't be joining the Lundstram fan club just yet. There have been a few games where he's done really well, but there have been just as many, if not more, where he's been "o.k" but nothing special. He goes missing for large parts of games imo and I'd like to see him really dictating the game before I jump on board the newly departed Lundstram love wagon.
