He fucking isnt. He’s garbage.

You honestly think Evans was better than Lunny off that performance? Evans was totally totally shocking especially the second half there is no way he should have finished the game Lunny was much better than Evans. Evans did nothing didn't get stuck in and ever time he had the ball he give it away he was dreadful.

They were both shocking. Let shit than someone really shit doesn't make you good.

I’m not on about that performance, they were both wank. But Evans is a far better footballer.

Thought McGoldrick did more in midfield than anyone until he went off, my mom. Woodburn looked like a rabbit in the headlights. Sharp and Duffy looked like game changes but came on to late.
Think subs order was due to getting Woodburn on.

Thought that both Lundstram and Evans were bloody awful today, myself.

Neither could seemingly pass a ball to another Utd shirt and virtually either gave it away or passed it back or sideways nearly all the game.

They both need to really up their games imo and fast. United aren't good enough to carry passengers and these 2 are at the moment. Virtually no creativity between them and no sense of attacking play. They also have the speed of thought of a sloth.

Have to agree. Lundstram and Evans were poor although I do think that Evans is a better footballer. Thought this last season and hoped Leonard would be the answer but he looked even more out of his depth. Need Coutts back and a creative midfielder as Duffy is getting on and Woodburn is unproven. A striker with some pace who can run the channels would be nice too.

I'd rather start Leonard than Lundstrum, he's far to defensive, and it doesn't suit our play unless were 2 goals up!

Lets just take one particular piece of action from todays game - the glaring miss in front of the kop.

If a team has any intention of finishing in the top 6 then: (and this applies to most midfield players)

1) he has to hit the target 5 times out of 5.
2) he has to score with 2 of them
3) he has to make the GK save the other 2
4) the fifth has to hit post/bar or just miss, but showing composure to aim for a corner.

Yes, any player is allowed to miss, but you are not allowed to miscue it wide as what happened, IF you want to be a good player in a good team then those types of chances cannot be squandered. A top six player HAS to do better........on a billiard level and smooth desso pitch.

That's why Lundstram is not good enough to play 40 (ish) games in a 46 game season and be able to influence the game from one of the most important positions on the pitch.

He is NOT a bad footballer - he is lower champ/upper L1 - he is not now and never will be top 6 material how ever long some of our fans want to give him.

We need better, more consistent in centre midfield.

It really isn't anything personal - it's just a case of what is needed 1st of all to finish top 6 and then hopefully top 2.

The problem we've got is we have a number of players who on their best day are unbelievable but their best days are rare and their normal days are all over the place. Leon, Lundstram, Bash, Duffy.

Lundstram is a technically gifted player and at times does thing under pressure that I can't figure out, like a magic trick but that's too rare. I really think there's a top 6 champ player in there somewhere but I don't know whether it's our system or what, but he's not discovering it here so I don't know what I'd do with him.

Evans is workmanlike and occasionally scores a good goal but he was pretty appalling today. Completely forgettable side to side bollocks but was decent at the end of last season so for me he gets the nod but only as a Diet Coutts with Duffy and Fleck alongside until the lord and saviour returns. He is not creative at all, and shouldn't be expected to be a playmaker.

They're both unreliable goal wise too. All of our team need to go on shooting practice. They drag shots, hit bobbley soft as shit ones or spoon it towards the corner flags far, far, far too often.

Midfield needs to chip in with the goals. Our CBs aren't scoring from corners either so they need to pick up their slack too.

Basically they need a fucking good hiding after today and need to respond in a major way against Boro.

Wasn't quite at it yesterday, for me - save for that through ball to McGoldrick when we could and should have had 5. Great ball.

For someone of his size, he doesn't have the presence that he ought to have. In replacing Fleck, we saw where he was lacking. Whilst comparing him with the best central midfielder in our squad and arguably the division is harsh, I'm going to do it anyway, largely because 1) that's who he came on for and 2) he needs to reach the level of these players to be ousting them from the starting 11.

He doesn't seem to have Fleck's tenacity and drive, he needs to speed it up a few gears and put himself about a bit more. For me, a brief but telling snippet from yesterday's second half was when Villa were growing into the game. Villa were on the attack, the ball bobbled loose to the edge of our box and you know that Duffy or Fleck wouldn't have given it a second thought and would have been on to it in a flash and would've made it theirs. Instead, Lunny looked left and right, realised noone was going for it and then decided to go for it, by which time of course a Villa player had got there first and they were back in possession. He needs to learn to use his size and frame to be an absolute beast, a leader doesn't think "should I go for it?", he simply takes possession no questions asked and barges everyone and anyone out of the way to get there, his own teammates included.

I'm hoping there's a player in there, which we can fashion.

Always has to be one searching desperately for a negative.

It's the Blades way

I do get a bit jittery when these old WWF threads are revived, and that avatar pops up. It's like the return of the repressed.

Lundstram is okay coming off the bench to protect a lead. Can't fault him for effort but he is at the moment a limited footballer. I can't help feeling that the only reason he is still here is because no other clubs were interested. I don't think he is good enough but I hope I'm utterly wrong, just like I was about Coutts and Freeman!
