If I was PA I'd be on the phone telling Hecky and Tindall to clear their lockers out and fuck off after that shit show last night. We desperately need a ruthless bastard to come in and let these player know they have 7 more games to save their careers not just the midfielders either. The whole lot have 7 games to show they are good enough to play for this club, some of them I'd ship em out tomorrow and give the U23 kids a go they couldn't do any worse than some of the so called established pro's currently getting a game every week. A firesale might not be a bad thing I can count on my fingers the players who I think are worth keeping for next season.

I think the “lack of investment” is rather debatable.
Perhaps the lack of “intelligent” and “sensible” investment might be nearer the mark.

To blame it on injuries (in truth, we have one proper key player out, long term and another who hasn't really imposed himself and remains injured) and lack of investment (we have spent more money than the club has ever spent) is disingenuous.

What has happened in we have had an iconic, yet naive, egotistic and intransigent manager who firstly failed to spread his bets with the investment money and made some now provenly crap acquisitions, and continued to play the same beatable system week in, week out for reasons known only to himself and his assistant. Pile on that that his replacement is simply continuing the same track. It's galling that there is some belief we might somehow turn a corner with this shit system. It's also galling we make the same contingency measures in changing this midway through a game we are predictably losing and bring on fifty million pounds of practicaly useless strikers who do absolutely nothing to change the game.

I think the sooner we all remove the rose-tinteds and acknowledge that Wilder got us up to the top flight and then fucked things up by his own volition, the sooner we can regroup and fix this shit.

Um. You taken a look at the PL table lately?

I'd swap their position with ours.

They still play football, at Premier League level. We don't. Last season we also had a goalkeeper who wasn't error prone, who possibly secured us nine to twelve points by his athleticism and ability. Without those points we'd have finished in the bottom half of the table, possibly lower.

Lundstrum looks like he doesn't want to be there, and as we all know he doesn't. Why he's not playing with more drive, as others say for a move elsewhere, is neyond me. Even if he's sorted out that move you'd want to impress the manager of whichever that club is.

As for Norwood. His effort is there, he certainly cares. But did anyone else notice yesterday how deep he went, vertually holding hands with Egan and in line with the defence and then leaving a man totally unmarked at the top fo the box or outside the D. This happened for Arsenal's first goal and for the chance which Lacazette put over the bar at the Stones Bitter end as I still call it!

In the same move as the Lacazette miss John Fleck allows an Arsenal player to run 50 yards from deep into the Arsenal half onto the edge of ours without even closing him down adequately, let alone make a tackle. Fleck for me has looked improved over the last 6 weeks or so but what's around him in the midfield is so poor that he looks poor also, but he does look sharp at times and is the most likely to make something happen.

Finally, and not to do with any of the midfield as such, but when Lunny gives it away Baldock's jogging back, totally leaving the eventual goalscorer to run freely to the rebound, and Baldock only starts sprinting when the Arsenal player goes for the shot. Why is he so focussed on the ball and yet leaving his man a free run in.

The above is a few of the things that stood out to me yesterday and positionally/lack of awareness of opposition players it's just not good gnough. Allow space to Arsenal and they'll punish teams. Last season v Arsenal and the season as a whole we were so much more organsised than this season. What happened yesterday is not because Berge and O'Connel are missing. Admitedly when you give the ball away like what we di too often you'll get punished but Norwood running too deep and leaving players unmarked is just basic shape related, or at least that's how it seems to me, maybe I'm missing somthing?!

What a disaster this season has been and it could of been averted had he signed a couple of good attacking midfielders and defensive cover. Instead he filled the squad with Championship players and that’s where we will be playing next season.

Next season we need for starters,somebody who can win the ball without fouling,distribute it and control us chunks of a game,somebody who will give protection to a back 3 or 4 and who is reasonably adept at getting up and down the pitch.
Norwood cant tackle and is too slow,Berge is on his way most likely,Ampadu and Chelsea will want him to be in the PL ,so a key player needs bringing in either loan or ours.

Fleck has been one of the best value and most influential signings in our recent history. He may have periods of less effectiveness, but he's always cared. Verdict: keep.

Norwood was talismanic in the latter few years of our rise, he was everything we needed him to be, and classy in that Championship promotion. Whilst he's been far less effective of late and looked well off the pace, he's often been a leader, and he's always cared. Verdict: Jury's out.

Lundstram was ineffective in the Championship, and had a productive spell for 6 months in the Premier League. That's it, since 2017. He no longer contributes in an attacking sense, plays it too safe in possession, doesn't track back or get stuck in defensively. When the chips are down, he's offered sod all. Verdict: out.

We now have a squad better than the one that took us out of the championship. He did get found out I completely agree but your “facts” are more like emotive opinions.

Do we? I'm not sure that's true.

Basically the same core of players all two years older, and several heading into the twilight of their careers. Most of them are showing a massive decline in performance levels.

Of the younger ones I'd say there's only Baldock and Egan who we could look at and say are better off for the time in the PL. But we do have a couple of upgrades for Championship level (Bogle, Brewster). But all in all its a very imbalanced squad heading on a downward curve.

All three of them have been woeful this season.

Norwood has been completely ineffective, without the ball we might as well be playing with 10 men for what use he's been. On the rare occasion we do have the ball, its a safe pass or a set piece that doesn't beat the first man

Fleck's been injured but even when he hasn't been, its been similar to Norwood where he's simply a body on the field and such a far cry from where he was last year taking players on, bursting into the box and having an effect on things.

Lundstram. Where do we start with this joker. He must have thought all his Christmasses had come at once when he was picked to start at Bournemouth despite, rightfully, not getting a look in in the Championship and was on the verge of being shown the door (if only). He's dining out on a few decent performances around Autumn 2019, agent has got in his ear and he's got delusions of grandeur. He's probably been fed all sorts of bullshit and has gone for it hook, line and sinker, already spending his pay rise in his head on all sorts of things. Meanwhile, his form has dropped off a cliff and he still gets picked every week. He thinks he's untouchable and if that's the case, you can saunter around the field like he did at the weekend, ball watching, giving it away, not holding his position and just shrugging his shoulders. All without actually having a job to go to next season, at least to our knowledge.

I would be absolutely certain that, in the old tried and tested 3:4:1:2 formation that served us so well for Wilders first 3 years, Berge and Fleck with Dids in the 10 would be as good as anything in the Championship.

I think its due to him being totally pissed off with some or all of his team mates. Everytime you saw a close up of George he was mouthing "for f**ks sake" 9 times out of 10. Whether that be he thought it should have been our throwing etc or not is debatable but I know he said it after some poor passes to him couple went straight over his head and out. Its possible the Lunny "assist" was the final straw and I can forgive him for not putting any effort in especially when those around him are doing nothing. He must be so isolated on the right as he has Lunny in front of him and Burke in front of him.

All the players good or bad are travelling a fine line of confidence and drive, 1-0 down and the ref may as well blow the final whistle at the moment. Its almost a "next goal" winner type scenario for the opposition at the moment.
