I was being a bit controversial BB and sticking up for Rodwell. I think he’s a bit better than a ‘punt’. Quality if he can refind his best. ;)
Morrison and Rodwell have the pedigree Wilder is trying to sus out whether they have the desire.
Morrison not shown through yet and his contract runs out like Rodwell this summer.
Dont think CWAK will be fooled , Wilder is ruthless and wont extend there deals if they dont offer enough , trust in CWAK.

I was very critical of him at the Fylde game. Then I saw his video and was pleasantly surprised at his contribution. Hopefully CWAK can find the on switch in both of them.

The issue with what Lambert has said. If he thinks Woolfenden is worth £33million. If I was Woolfenden I would be saying if I’m valued at £33m I want to be paid as such. If not your underpaying me. Sufc will pay me wages like a 3/4m player. If you think I’m worth more you need to pay me the going rate for these sort of players.

For the player to come he gets a big wage increase and joins the premiership. He is one injury / suspension away from making his premier league debut.

If your the player you would be demanding to go as soon as something is more concrete from our side in terms of offers and assurances.

Wouldn’t you be saying that anyway? If you’re a L1 player and PL clubs are after you, you immediately tell your club (via your agent) that you either get a move or you want a new contract. A big contract. Or you might get ‘sunburnt’.

It’s funny how now we’re a Premier League club we’re scoffing at paying over £3m for a League One player, but when we were in League One we would be going ape shit at McCabe selling a promising youngster for that sort of money! 😂

I read that just as the commentator said ‘Maguire’

Their isn't much logic in them selling now for that fee if they have confidence in his ability. But if there owner is similar to ours was then it could be a cheap gamble for us and we should take full advantage like clubs did with us.

Lambert's comments are typical of a manager trying to get a more for a player. He knows for a fact that if a few million is tabled for the player he'll be off.

I've spoken to an Ipswich fan today and he is pretty surprised by our interest. Thinks he is currently a very long way from the premiership, though he might develop.

Did say they would and should snatch our hand off at 3 million.

If the going rate for Egan, an established championship defender, was £4M last summer then I don’t see how a young up and coming centre back in League 1 is worth more than that?

I don’t blame Ipswich for setting the bar high, but I think Mr Lambert is just trying to appease the fans that they won’t sell him for peanuts. That’s fine. Offer them monkey nuts instead and make it “undisclosed” then everyone will be happy!

4 million was a steal ,Webster at Brighton went for twenty million.and turns slower than an oil tanker

Even when we were in the same league we took Mcgoldrick from them as they couldn’t offer a deal for him. We even tried to buy Waghorn from them also.

The clubs are now even further apart it would be harsh on Ipswich to stand in his way of a premiership move to a team battling for Europe. When essentially he’s one suspension away from starting!

Couldn’t open the above link but here’s presumably the source hitc used. Lambert hopefully has a minimal say in the matter... In the video itself though he doesn’t exactly say that’s what the asking price is. All he seems to say is that it would take a big offer and he could potentially in the future be a £10m player. A bit randomly also says he was in and out of the team in Swindon, and wasn’t in a good state in preseason and needed a talking to. Which will definitely encourage big offers...

No way is that kid worth anywhere near it. I'd ask Lambert "Are you on drugs"?

The whole lot is going to go up soon if steps aren't taken to stop this ridiculous inflation in transfer fees. It won't stop by itself, because every club understandably wants to milk the system for what they can get out of it for them. But we are spiralling towards a situation where only a few clubs will be able to compete and many more will just overheat financially and go bust. The pressure needs letting out of the system by applying some sort of limits on transfers and guidelines for clubs to adhere to. Same with wages.

I'm sure this won't be an easy thing to do, but if we want to save our national game then we really do need to do something. Otherwise, English football is going to end up with half a dozen top professional clubs and the rest will all be amateur level because they just won't afford to be able to take part.

Well if Sheffield United News is on the ball, CW has a £20m budget, which is way more than I thought it would be

£10m for this Cobbaut fella and that leaves a few bob for The Woolf. I'll go with £4m fee and £1m add ons and 20% sell on clause

So he's basically written everything that's already been written and made up a xfer kitty based on alleged values of these players.

Ok.

not sure we will pay £4m for Wolfy upfront, i'd be disappointed in that price for a L1 defender... i'd like to think we can do a deal at £2.5-£3m and nice sell on clause... it will be more weighted in future fees as he has a bright future but an unfinished product at the moment...

look no further than Che at 2m, Harry Maguire for £2.5m for evidence as a top L1 club selling to PL. With market inflation £3m is the new £2m if you get me...

As a comparison, we sold Maguire when he was just 21; he'd played 134 league games and three seasons in League One. He went for £2.5m back then. It was a lower fee then he was worth; I'd have said £3.5m was about right then.

Woolfenden has only broken into the Ipswich side this season and Wooldneden is also 21, so to ask for £10m is ridiculous. I'd say £3m was about right given his experience, maybe £4m tops and give them a decent sell-on clause.
