He had his debut against us, and I thought he looked very talented.

The general opinion in these parts (I live in Leicestershire and am surrounded by LCFC ST holders), is that he hasn't really progressed and is too small. Bit of a surprising signing I think, I understand the position but not the player if that makes sense, but he's got a decent level of PL experience. It's been a problem position for us for a while, so he's got his chance to solve it for us.

GLTTL
How tall is he? He's down as 5.11ft tall on Wikipedia but also it says 1.8m tall on google which is 5.9ft tall. Either way, Baldock is 5.10ft tall according to Wikipedia, he's not the tallest regardless and he does well enough I think we'd all agree!

We can debate all day about why we have only a loanee development LWB fit to play this position , but it looks like the consequence is the club has had to push the emergency button and get a L-footer who can actually defend the L flank.
The fact that Thomas apparently can't attack makes it even more crucial to now sign a L-footed creative MF who can drive at defences and unlock them , as currently we don't have any fit L-footed MF of any type available.
It makes me wonder (optimistically) if the fact that PH has gone for Thomas implies that he already has options for L-footed MFs lined-up.

Any professional footballer who is able to kick a ball and know their position is a major upgrade on the one fit joker we currently have so for that I am all in on this one. We can't have that liability in the premier league
Aye
Folk were saying that about McAtee after (during ) Luton last season & (likely) 50% of all signings / debutants, ever -JOC ( & another 10) should never have played again after his ‘performance’ v Southend

Do you remember

Given our shoe-string budget I’m genuinely not sure what more some people could be hoping for. Thomas is a decent player with PL experience, and at a good age with some upside which I presume we could make the most of if we stay up. He instantly upgrades us and we’re not having to take a whack on wages. The likes of Cresswell and Targett are likely out of our price range due to wages.

That’s the frustrating part though the shoe string budget means the only way to add the additional game changes we need but can’t afford is on loan and we have two slots to use and now one of those two is being wasted

Lol I thought that, so I looked it up, and he's 5'11.

I think I should have said slight, rather than small

We’ve put ourselves in a situation where this loan isn’t “wasted” though. We need to sort the LWB position and I’m not sure chucking money at the situation when clearly some last minute scouting is going on is the best solution. And if we factor in the possibility that we can’t take McAtee on loan anymore, who would be our two loan signings anyway?

Hoping it's a 6 month deal rather than a full season and can then reassess where we are in terms of RND and Osborn.

Yes. Mcatee only truly came good months and months later. We could get away with that at a lower level with us being a stronger side. Can't anymore.

So when do (m)any of the new signings ((& <21’s) get the opportunity to demonstrate they are (competent) PL players?
By your ‘logic’ Archer, Hamer & the rest of the “jokers” shouldn’t be even offered the opportunity to “kick a ball” @ our current level

obrien would be perfect down that left flank with thomas but doesnt look like weve any chance of prizing him away from forest

1.8m is 6ft

Nothing to do with age. He looks like a soccer aid celebrity who has been given a professional contract in terms of his positioning. Really really poor stuff.

Can’t help but be disappointed that we are using 1 of 2 domestic loans on him. Bringing in a loan to cover a loan is poor recruitment tbh
Think we all know if Lowe wasn't injured this loan wouldn't happen. Hecky likes Lowe and i feel he would be 1st choice LWB

Whereas you sound like the sort of pastiche that Harry Enfield would have come up with back in the day. The stereotypical miserable northern football fan who moans, bitches and whines and hates everything nearly as much as he hates himself.

Not sure why you’ve (only) responded to a passing reference to age ?
You’ve concluded that Larouchi is a “joker” following 3 (substitute) outings ‘informed’ by 1 (admittedly horrendous) rick
All 5 goals conceded this season have been poorly defended / avoidable - should Anel, Egan, Baldock be signing up as soccer aid celebrities ?
Tell me more about your ‘analysis’ of where Hamer & Archer should ply their trade

Frustrating thing about this is that if you put together the money for Thomas and Larouci, we'd have a really good LWB. No way we should have signed a project like Larouci, we should have been buying our LWB for the next 4 years.

I am actually what most would call a clapper...and I'll give you a clue about the northern bit in my username 😉 I just think he's truly crap and I have seen enough from him already.

Tbf with a fully fit left back line up he's likely to be 4th choice at best ( maybe lower with rnd and Bogle) seeing as we move moved quickly to upgrade on him.

Mistakes happen robbo has about a dozen of them for us. But it's more fundamental than just a mistake like Lowe's v Forrest etc

Hamer looks like he can do a job as a pro. Archer did well in the championship and is a hot prospect Monsieur larouci came from a side that shipped 81 goals last year and went down.
