If it IS £5m plus add-ons, that would make it a club record signing. Interesting that no-one - Sky, Wilder, reporters - has mentioned that... suggests that it's either NOT a club record fee (so <£4m), or we have something bigger basically confirmed...

It'll be just like the Egan and Norwood deals, the rags love to quote the top offer including all the potential add-ons, turned out that we got both for less than was reliably quoted at the time.
Wasn’t Egan an initial 750k?

Could be a great week this, Freeman ticks a lot of boxes and with the strong links to McBurnie & Maupay we could be sitting pretty.

Luke Freeman at 9am today £3 Million

Luke Freeman at 10am today £5 Million

Wilder hasn't even done a single training session with him and his value is soaring. Can see him being snapped up by Man U for £50 Million after our return from Portugal.
Best be getting on with it then I reckon

We'll probably never know the exact fee on deals in this era. I personally think every club should be made to release transfer deals say a year after the transfer has gone through - then there's no argument from clubs that might argue that they're disadvantaged because everyone knows how much money a club has just earned from a deal.

Whatever Freeman has cost, you can rest assured with the way we do our business that we got the best deal we could and ultimately what a player we've got in my view. I remember, as many will, how he took us to the cleaners when at Stevenage but thankfully we had Chris Porter! ;)

Wilder seems to speak of £3.75m being “our transfer fee” in a conversation where he drifts between Prem and Championship differences on the market. Unclear whether he’s referring to our overall spend last year (surely not) or the Freeman fee (hopefully so).

I would guess that's referring to Egan, Loughborough. I can't see Wilder being so specific on a transfer that's just happened or about to happen.

I think he's definitely referring to Freeman. Absolute bargain ⚔

Not disputing that Freemans not a good player, but is he good enough for the premier league?
He was in a struggling QPR side for a reason, only time will tell I suppose hope Wilder has pulled one out for bag for a relatively small fee at premier league level.

Listened again as was on the move first time round. The key bit on that is from 4.12 onwards...

“...we’re in a group of possibly two, you see what Villa have done, and then you look at ourselves and Norwich will be doing this summer, we can’t compete with the likes of them and clubs that have been there 2,3,4 years like Brighton what they’ve done, Bournemouth you look at the numbers they paid last year and what they’re paying this year...and Wolves are a different one when they came up...Fulham are a different one...and clubs that have been in the PL on merit and are able to go to the next level in terms of wages and transfer fees, and our transfer fee still stands at £3.75m. When you look at likes of Leicester paying £8m for a full back, and Villa paying...etc”

Blimey– THE FREEMAN TRANSFER FEE IS £3.75 MILLION!

Currently having a medical at Shirecliffe

He kept that struggling QPR side up single-handedly

We had plenty of good players when we have been crap who have moved on to another, better club and done well.

I would say he’s referring to our current record transfer fee which is Egan at 3.75m

I know that we made a song and dance about it last summer, but Beattie is our club record fee I believe in terms of what we actually paid (£4m, which used to be on the club website). We potentially have paid more through add-ons for the Egan deal already that may have pushed it past the £4m mark. He doesn’t mention Egan in that section, so it would be an odd thing to just say without any context – the more I listen to that section, the more it feels like he’s revealed the Freeman fee.

Sounds to me like he’s referring to the Egan fee but who knows.

And what's that reason? 'cos he wasn't good enough to play for a better Championship club? We certainly tried to get him this time last year.

The United side Harry Maguire played in wasn't pulling any trees up in the First Division?
