The notion that fans care only about results has about as much credibility as

We can see this year that fans are happier when the club is playing "football". But you still miss the point. When a club is winning, none of it really matters. When it's not, then it matters. You can predict the moans about the style of play at Swillsborough. It's every time they lose and never when they win.

There's a reason that Stoke play in front of 3 times as many fans as they did 10 years ago, and it isn't the free flowing football that's on display.

Either way, I'm deighted with the way we're playing these days....:)

Absolute rubbish and statements like this just make you look a fool.

The We  Hoof Brigade: eloquent and magnanimous as they retreat to Blackwell's bunker. Don't worry lads, Quickfix Mickey and Dinosaur Dave will be there to console you. There's even a little bench there for The Maestro, kindly donated by Frank Lampard.

Are you the one who's in the band ? I bet the gigs aren't boring and repetitive are they
Sorry if I'm getting you mixed up with the other middle aged pop star

No, Judge, I'm not the one who's in a band. I'm the one who has been exposing uncomfortable truths and getting it right about football for many years, much to the consternation of the We  Hoof Brigade, who are imploding as we speak.

Thats a top notch post its a shame how some cannot move on. Please for god sake no one mention a certain player.;)

Who's imploding?
the cliche in football is and always will be "this is a results based buisness" you honestly think that if Arsene could have got a result in Italy by playing lump it up football he wouldnt?
results mean higher revenue the style in which they get the results isnt as important, yes its nice to see Barcelona play reap rewards but like arsenal if they could be sure of winning by using whatever tactics needed then put your house on it, they will.ideally you want a good balance or at least the ability to fall back on long ball football.
no matter what the team, if they are 1-0 down with a coupla mins to go all teams will revert to good ol' kick n rush.
i like many others pinchy are unbelievably surprised and happy about how we are playing now rather than the style previously employed but if some fairy godmother came and offered prem football in 2 years by playing hoofball or yo-yoing between championship and league one playing "total" football i know which id take, tho obviously prefer better footbal AND prem football, so lets enjoy what we have now and see where it takes us.

Could the reason be that they are playing in front of Premiership teams every week?

Ten years ago they were in the First Division (now Championship), having just been promoted from the third tier.

By their stretched necks ye shall know them Pinch .

LOL , I never ever went to the car park I was just sat at home egging a very drunk Sir Nick of Brownie on ;-)
I was at the time furious with his appointment. Nothing to do with his Wednesday connections as things like that have no bearing on me whatsoever. I loved Alan Quinn,Bromby, Delboy and I was gutted when we sold Terry Curran. Professional sportsman do a job for their employers.
I was pissed off with his appointment as I thought we could do better and get a bigger name in as manager. I thought we were going down the deadwood road again.
If we had a poll at the time we wanted a new manager I would edge a bet no one on this forum would have put DWs name forward.
I am enormously pleased he is so far proving me wrong and of course I hope he takes us up. If he doesn't he's shit ;-)

It's 100% that Broomers. And, no shit sherlock, they're in the premiership because they won far more games than they lost. Hoofing it.

could be as theyve spent around 70 million in 3 years, which is nice

Yes, paid for by premiership money, achieved by hoofing it.

For someone who espouses a varied and eloquent style, you don't half run up and put your laces through each of your posts aiming hard and high and in the same predictable direction. Truly the Monty of forum debate.

Did you read your own post back? I treated it with the contempt it deserved.

I still laugh at how you claim to be the authority on all things football, but offer little yourself.

and I still laugh at your post saying we need 'stability' when your beloved Alehouse dragged us into this pub league. Pretty certain that Pinch knows everyhting we need to knwo about football - ie pass it, entertain and don't play Monty as first choice central midfielder - it really is as simple as that.

Pathetic backtracking. Anyone but Blackwell, anyone but Alehouse.

Truly magnificent performance today against horrible opposition. Massive desire and hunger which comes from the manager having the respect of the players unlike the imbecilic managers plenty on here still try and support

Top stuff Pinch - keep it up pal.

just how loud was the wilson wonderland chant today?

>Stoke City vs Valencia. God, life's complicated.
well Valencia won.. so there goes that theory

>Are you the one who's in the band ?
no i'm in it as well.. as for Arsenal.. there's more to not playing hoofball than playing the ball around the pitch.. you have to be able to defend as well (listening Arsene?).. i notice you didn't mention barcelona in your argument.

A defence of strangers? We essentially had (Ertl apart) the same players in defence at the beginning of 2010-11 as we had in the 2nd half of 2009-10 (when we sustained upper mid table form). And whose to say Simonsen would have collapsed had KB been manager?

We were a worse team in 2010-11 than we were in 2009-10, but not that much worse and absolutely no-one as far as I am aware predicted relegation at the start of that season. Any half decent manager would have kept that team up. Blackwell would have and Speed was on course to. It was only the stunning ineptitude of Adams that sent us down.[/QUOTE]
I am not sure about Speed.
I think Speed was an utter disaster at the lane.

You have to remember too that Wilson has done his job this season without having a consultant in to deal with all the phone calls etc that you have to deal with as manager, so deserves even greater praise...
Speaking of which..what happened to Bassett?

Oh they're all out of the woodwork today. :)

Youve gone quiet on your critiscism of McCabe lately. Funny that...

Yes we needed to stabilise and surprisingly we've managed it, so I'm happy.

Wilson on the derby game:
"This game isn't about me and I have continually said that since the day I arrived, nothing is about me."

A refreshing difference from Neil Warnock.

Isn't it good to hear your manager speak and not be cringing, thinking everyone's laughing at us, because he's either full of self importance, spouts rubbish, sends out the non PR trained assistant, or in wendy's case the most universally hated manager in football who's brainwashed the pigs into thinking he's the blue god.

Keep going Danny, doing what you're doing, calm, controlled considered interviews..........then thrash the scum!!!
