A season long loan playing regulary will help him progress as it did for Naughton.
I agree with you - but why not last season?

He's not even 20 years old and it's 'time for him to move on' before we even send him out on loan anywhere? Before we even see how he copes with regular football at senior level?
He's bulked up a lot, he's toughened up and he was the key player for the U23s last season. He's improved, it's just that he hasn't played in the first team.
A player can develop massively between 19-23, it would be daft to let him leave permanently at this stage.
Going on loan to a footballing side in L2 would be the most ideal option for him. Same with Brooks. Then things can be reassessed in January.

Seen him play for the U/23s a couple of times this year, why when was the last time you saw him Mr Wonderful. When did you last see him play?
Because that is an area Reed has worked and improved upon this last season IMO
Lowton is a good example whereby he went to Fradi and grew up. We could have missed out and ditched him at 18-19He's not even 20 years old and it's 'time for him to move on' before we even send him out on loan anywhere? Before we even see how he copes with regular football at senior level?

Nuts isn't it. Players get written off so early. Even 3 or 4 years older Michael Brown looked average when he first came, 18 months later, he'd signed for SpursYou lot can have him mate, he's 19 and not even played one game for the England first team yet. Can't see him making it now as his career is coming to an end. He was the player of the year in the under 23's and shown a fantastic attitude, but that doesn't mean anything. He's a fantastic passer, and doesn't mind putting his foot in as well, but at 19 I just can't see him improving any more. You can have that Ben Whiteman back as well. He's well past it. Oh and add Regan Slater to that an all.
I have watched him play over 20 times for the 23s this season and without doubt he was the standout player this season and when he was missing the team struggled a bit.Seen him play for the U/23s a couple of times this year, why when was the last time you saw him Mr Wonderful.
Perhaps the management tean felt a season in our U23's was best for him and gave them a full season to work with him?
I now think the a season in a first team would be ideal, Mansfield being ideal along with Rotherham/Donny/Chesterfield?
Grimsby with Russell Slade?

He never shirked a tackle, showed great vision and overall was very impressive, and was involved in most of the good things that happened.
CW sees something in him, otherwise he would have been long gone.
Reed is a perfect example of too much too soon in terms of first team football. He has been a victim of being a very young player playing in a team that has struggled. Especially in 2014/15 and 2015/16.
He needs first team football either in L1 or L2. What ever one it is is irrelevant. It is all about playing week in week
I actually think he needs a loan to a Championship team, think he'd get steamrollered in L1 or L2, his game is much more suited for higher up the chain, he could be our own version of Leon Brittain at Swansea. I thought he might have gone on loan last season to Burton. Agreed he needs to get games somewhere though.
I have mentioned this before. It is strange but playing higher up in the leagues would suit Reed better. The hurly burly of lower league football will not do much for his footballing ability but it could make him physically more resilient.I actually think he needs a loan to a Championship team, think he'd get steamrollered in L1 or L2, his game is much more suited for higher up the chain, he could be our own version of Leon Brittain at Swansea. 60 odd first team appearances, England U19 international all at 19 years old. He has plenty going for him.Wasn't there a rumour a while back that Middlesbrough were looking at him? I agree that his game may be better suited to a level that's less physical and allows more time on the ball, but I doubt there are many Championship teams that would be interested in taking him.

I honestly think there would be a few clubs interested in him if they were given any indication that we would let him go.
I really think CW sees Reed in his plans a little further down the line. Not next season but certainly the season after that. If not, he would have gone by now.
That is exactly right. This is why when a club is in L1 then its more difficult for our younger players to get a decent loan move. You might be right, but he'll be competing against Premier League academy youngsters for loan moves – I just think if a Championship team is going to take a punt on a youngster, they aren't going to be looking at within the division for that.
I just don't get this idea that any player would do better in a higher league, or that the championship isn't physical. I'm a traditionalist in that I believe the higher up the leagues you go, the better you have to be.I have mentioned this before. That said, having watched him many times this season he hasn't lacked in dishing out the tackles.

Probably the most obviously sarcastic post I've ever seen on here. What do you mean when you say his career is coming to an end? Why the Ben Whiteman slating? Since when did players stop developing at 19 years of age?….. Shocking post.
I know what you are saying Bush but i genuinely think Reed would benefit from playing in a higher league.I just don't get this idea that any player would do better in a higher league, or that the championship isn't physical. Keep up SB - Bush is clearly dishing up some of that top quality triple irony!Maybe he's also being sarcastic. Some of that legendary double irony. He got us good!
