Honestly? No, I think we will go well again. Thought so last pre season too after we brought in a few new faces. We have an excellent young team, all a year older with experience, and it just needs fine tuning with the right signings. Quality over quantity. Don't see the need for negativity myself, but I appreciate i could be very wrong with my gut feeling here.

Then again, I think Cannon will come good this season (as we will play to his strengths hopefully unlike last season with Wilder looking like he didn't have a clue about how to play the lad). I actually thought he showed he had something (maybe not £8-10m of it though!!) and hes still a pup.
Must admit I also think Cannon will be a key player this season. As for the youngens I don't think Wilder rated them that much or they would have got more game time(Brooks & Seriki.)

If we sign him for say £3.5m and he’s really good and we sell him for say £20m , we still bank over £8m profit and we’ve obviously benefited massively during his time with us. I don’t see the problem with the clause as we can name on one hand the players we’ve made that much profit on ! Alternatively the 50% might end up being pretty much bugger all ! I would personally sooner sign him than not and the rest will sort itself out!
As ever UTB !
True but they need the money, so not sure why/if they're as powerful in negotiations as that.

I'm not so sure Wilder didn't rate them but more that he didn't feel they were ready to be regulars. Both still played a fair bit of football last season,Seriki especially.

Selles is known for his work with youth footballers so this could be a positive of having Selles at the helm which I appreciate sounds like a contradiction to my first point! 😂

If you buy a player for 10 million quid, seems not to see a few of his goals to see his strengths.

Has the Boro fans claimed anything else? Its still as quiet as ever on this end

Jesus. Facebook blades chat is even worse than S2 Forum for bet wetters.

I'm especially amused by the comment of Mr Smith. He's prepared to type out "fuck", but not "shit", and also manages to demonstrate how he knows nothing about Louie Barry, considering he couldn't even spell the lad's fucking name right. All in just 7 words.

I mean, that's your observation...

But mine was another banger of an Avatar :D

God, is Facebook still a thing?
Full of the absolute dregs of society

In gonna put this out there:

I don’t think Wilder and Knill were very good at evaluating forwards. Perhaps it’s that they were both defenders.

Examples:
McBurnie was not a Jon Parkin type at Swansea. He was more Steve Claridge yet Wilder spent about 2 years trying to make him one. Then left for nothing after arriving for 17.5m.

Callum Robinson was not a centre forward. He would have been ok if we were playing 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 and being the wide left option but not through the middle in a two. Left for equivalent of a couple of million after being bought for between 6 and 7m.

Lys Moussett had an enjoyable purple patch but it was a small percentage. We didn’t pay any attention to the fact he never finished games at Bournemouth at all which showed a lack of research. Lost 10m on him.

Oliver Burke aka Road Runner. Probably valued around 4-5m. Ended up leaving for nothing more or less, I think.

Rhian Brewster. 23m, picked up many injuries but I’m not convinced he ever looked like he would be a 23m player even before the injuries. He never showed any anticipation at all, unlike a Sharp who Wilder could and should have played more in the PL in my view over some of these mentioned. Also shocking the James Wilson sub over Billy vs the Pigs at home.

Tom Cannon was scoring for fun for Stoke. Comes here, gets played up top on his own which wasn’t his position and scored 1 in many matches.

Offset Campbell and McGoldrick on frees were great. But for those we spent money on, we’re about 65m down with the only hope that Cannon attracts a bid from ManU in the next two years!

Agree with all apart from the Cannon comments. He scored 9 goals, mostly penalties. He hasn’t shown a single morsel of looking like a player capable of leading the line. He scored 9 goals in a stoke team that created far more chances than we do/did.
