Looks like Henderson...

Henderson does seem a bit stuck.

Not seen as Man United's number 1 yet.
But not wanting to lose him, they up his salary.
In doing so, they price him out of a loan at a club that could give regular football.

My expectation is that if he is at peace with the idea of another loan, he'll want it to be here rather than anywhere else in the PL.

Love Henderson but he seems a bit naive There is no way he can force Solskjaer into making him number one at Manure nor can he force a move this summer. A new contract will make his wages too high for us. If he wants to compete for the England keeper position at the Euros next summer he has to be playing, that makes another loan to us a possibility but do we want to be hanging around until after the season starts - No! I would rather settle for Ramsdale Ok not as good as Henderson but he has played behind a much worse defence than ours and gave goals away by being told by Howe to play it out from the back If Ramsdale wants to play in the Premiership where could he go and be number one apart from us Not Manchester, Liverpool, Burnley, Everton, Chelsea Tottenham, possibly Arsenal. Would be be Number one at Villa when Heston is fit no. West Brom could be a possibility or maybe West Ham or Palace. A season with a struggling Bournemouth and the route to a Premiership number one spot will be even harder
The thing is would Ramsdale really come back to The Lane ?

Been great for us, but also escaped criticism because of his popularity. Cost us 4/5 goals this year but people don't like to see that.

It's time to invest in a goalkeeper of our own and not be paying 50k a week to develop someone elses talent
I'd agree he cost us four or five. It's probably the thirty five other saves he made that most keepers couldn't that folk rate him for.

That’s bang on. Beating the badge to the fans doesn’t make you a good GK. He’s a decent shot stopper, that’s about it. Time to admit he’s nothing too special. Henderson without our defence wouldn’t cope, it’s because of this he’s conceded so little. Has no interest in our club whatsoever, he’s doing whatever it takes to become No. 1 at Man Utd. Ramsdale would fit perfectly for us, I’d love him back here.

Think your forgetting the amount of points he's won us and goals prevented that alot of keepers would have not. With out checking in sure I've seen countless evidence and starts to back this up.

Can't really agree with of that. He certainly has passion and I think he certainly likes the club but we have to be realistic, very few kids want to grow up to be a (Sheffield) United player. If his aspirations were to move to, I don't know, Brighton I'd agree, but we can't fault the kid who has started gaining interest from the likes of Southgate for wanting to move to a club with the prestige of Man U.

We're also forgetting we need him for another season just as much as he needs us. He wants a number 1 spot, that's guaranteed at the Lane and he can get the experience he needs from Premiership footy. We want him for another season because he is a good keeper and it will allows us one more season to generate more cash when the inevitable happens.

He isn't the best out there I agree, but he wants to be and he wants to play for the clubs. Can't fault the kid for that.

Henderson is still a very young keeper but is getting better as each season progresses.

He isn't ready for Man United NEXT season, and he should be true to his words that he won't go back to Man U unless he is no:1

The very best place is back at Bramall Lane.

We should for another season take Henderson back at what ever wage it is - my feeling is - if we stay up for a third season, then it would be 4th, 5th, 6th etc with this management team we have and the new training facilities coming on stream. We should of course bring in someone else to get ready for when Henderson does go back. De Gea is contracted until 2023 so there's also a chance Hendo could be with us for a 4th season especially if De Gea ups his game next season

We need to stabilise in this division and Henderson is part of a 4 man defence that know each others games inside out - it counts for a lot and we should at all costs maintain it - especially if we are going to struggle once again with minimum goals at the other end.

As for Ramsdale - read Jordan Pickford - both are over rated. Henderson is the 2nd best English keeper in the country behind Pope, but Henderson has the ability and mental strength to be no:1. To be no:1 Henderson has to play 1st team football NEXT season which should be obvious to everyone and the obvious place to everyone is BDTBL. (Hendo/agent/Man U/Sheff U and Southgate)

Looks like we are signing the Turkish lad so no go Hendo, will watch his career with interest I suspect it won't be as good as it could've been.

The problem with "signing the turkish lad" - is B'mouth WERE signing Butland from Stoke and got knocked back really close to the deadline last August and ended up playing Ramsdale instead. as no:1 Now Ramsdale was only part of B'mouth getting relegated but we don't want to leave ourselves with a situation like B'mouth.

A decent keeper is worth numerous extra points, especially when we're not exactly super proficient up top.

If Cakir turned out to be average we end up with a massive problem.

Others have mentioned the number of goals he's prevented, so i'll not add to that.

In terms of paying 50k a week to develop another teams talent, i understand that argument. However, that equates to £2.6m over 52 weeks..maybe chuck in another mill for a loan fee and its £3.6m for a season. For me, Henderson with the saves he makes and the points he gets for us (as opposed to other keepers mentioned) means we are a few places higher in the league than possible could be, which means more revenue for higher places. Therefore, the point im making, is he is like a free signing in a sense. He saves us five points, we finish two places higher, his wages etc are paid by that. Its actually clever way of approaching it for smaller teams in the Prem

I will say im a fully signed up member of the Hendo fan club and that's down to his ability alone. He's a lot to learn and makes a few mistakes, but i think he is a terrific keeper for his age, and i personally really like his focused single minded approach to his career, its quite refreshing, and i think a lot of younger places could learn from it.

We were late getting Hendo ourselves.

But if Cakir turns out to be better than Henderson we'll be even better than we are now.
WE can't rely on getting a loan off a team who messed us around last year and have made Henderson's wages so high our only chance of signing him permanently is to smash our wage structure. Also remember when most people on the forum said we had to sign Blackman? Things didn't go too badly (for us) when we didn't.

His wages at Man Utd are irrelevant when loaning him out though, they can choose to pay all his wages if they wish. Pretty sure they were paying a massive % of Sanchez's wages at Inter

If we can get Hendo back for another season, I absolutely would, even if it costs us £95k a week in wage contributions, that's about £3.5/4m for the season (beginning of September to June).

I do think we need our own keeper, but I think a third year of Hendo would bring continuity while we're establishing ourselves and makes it more likely we'll have our third season in the Prem.

If we have Dean Henderson for 3 seasons and its cost us about £10m in wages and loan fees, well have done excellently, even with the lack of profit.

I think we can take it he will not be coming back , were looking for another keeper and allegedly had a 12 mill bid for Ramsdale knocked back , i think the club knows hes gone for good !

I wouldn't rule it out entirely, but yeah, it's less likely and we'd be foolish not to pursue other keepers in the mean time. Ramsdale wouldn't be my pick up though.

and when we get our own keeper we don't have to concede 6 points to Man Utd each season.

It was 4.
it most certainly was but it would've been 6 but for the best 70 minutes of football most of us have seen a United team put in against (and forget about Wednesday for a minute) an absolute giant of world football. We cannot expect to replicate that sort of form every season as we came nothing like it in most games this season. I could go on...

That’s short sighted bullshit

Our best keeper for 20 years

You mean the first choice keeper for the team that have just themselves been promoted to the premiership? Why on earth would they sell him? And why would he want to leave?

You mean the first choice keeper whos more than likely going to be playing championship football the season after next? Why on earth would he want to leave for a team whos just finished in the top 10 is beyond me? Bonkers int it?

But saying that, i thought i did say i wouldnt want to sign him either, you just asked for an example of who i thought was a better keeper for the sort of money?

There's no doubting that there were mistakes in there. Liverpool at home, Newcastle away, for example. That's why he isn't Old Trafford ready yet, those mistakes will kill him off before he's got started, as incredibly professional as his ability to bounce back and refocus is (amongst the best I've seen). Another reason why we are the best place for him.

No, we shouldn't suffer mistakes, but our club is certainly a more nurturing one or will at least afford him more patience. Not that we're in the business of bringing up someone else's kids, only for them to then leave. But Man United's fans are an expectant, entitled, ungrateful bunch who essentially hark back to the Fergie days and for that reason tolerate very few set backs, and have very little patience for players needing time to grow.

Me too mate. He's amongst the best model pros I've ever seen, at such a young age. He's a class above, an attitude comparable to the very best.

What makes you say they'll be down next season? Because they're newly promoted? look how that worked out for us, could have said the same about any of our players regarding a move to a top 10 club. I know it's rare but some players do have affinity and loyalty towars their clubs. OK I should have clarified that I meant "for that sort of money and who we could offer something that they can't get ar their current club"

Man Utd have also been linked with signing Oblak from Atletico. That would suggest Solskjaer isn't ready to make Henderson his No.1 yet. With that in mind, the options are they could sell him, which would probably be beyond us, or best case scenario, they want to hang for another season and let Henderson go on loan again, hopefully to us.

We've been linked with this Turkish lad for a while, but does anyone know if he speaks English as that would be a concern?

This constant link with Ramsdale, is that an actual thing or has some bladey blade just thought 'he used to play for us, he's decent and his club has just got relegated so obviously he'll be coming back' - like the thread about Brooks recently.

I think there are other 'options' out there.

I think by looking at other keepers we are covering all bases and that is absolutely the right thing to do.

We could end up playing cat and mouse with Man Utd for hendo next season.

Man U say to us we want a million pound loan fee and we want you to pay 60k of his wages.

We say thanks but no thanks. Hendo goes back to Man U to probably sit on the bench unhappy and we continue to pursue our other targets

Man U have a rethink a week later after deciding they could do with his wage subsidised and know he won’t want to be on the bench so come back to us saying how about 500k loan fee and 40k of his wages.

We say thank you very much welcome back hendo.

Plenty of haggling and a bit of bluff calling will be common in these scenarios
