Unpopular opinion but I don’t think Hendo is good enough for Manu. His distribution is piss poor, “Top” teams these days want a ball playing keeper. He’s also had one the best defences in English football in front of him for the last two seasons. He’s riding the wave of hype coupled with DDG in calamitous form.

based on what ? Besides this being the excuse as to why Southgate hasnt picked him in tabloids what have you actually seen to say he cant play a short passing distribution type role when we dont play that type of game ?


Sure you may aswell declare hes shite at taking penalties whilst your at it, I mean he doesnt try to take them when we have earned them over the last 2 seasons so the fact he doesnt try must mean hes rubbish at it right ?

Im not saying he can by the way but Im just saying people saying he cant when they have nothing to base it on is ridiculous.

If I'm right the idea was to send him over to us for experience, us getting promoted was just a bonus but despite his shortcomings he certainly has the characteristics and the passion to climb his way to being world class. He's already been mentioned as a strong contender for Englands number 1

Unfortunately one thing we can't deny is - we just aren't Man U. I commend him for not wanting to go there as a number 2 but I wouldn't expect him to turn down the number 1 spot over there just because we really like him.

Just because your opinion differs doesn’t mean you can assert me never watching him.

Yes he claims the nice simple floaty crosses, that’s a given and the bare minimum. But that’s it.
And he doesn’t play the short passes because firstly his first touch isn’t consistently good enough to trust him to do it, and also because his passing just isn’t good enough in both aim or weight.

Great shot stopper, loads more work to do on Claiming Crosses, command of his area, starting position and kicking.
And finally, not at all convincing myself or hoping we can get him back. Would prefer we got our keeper and developed him like we have other areas of the pitch.
He’s made it clear of his goal and we have zero chance of getting him long term so how about we find our own keeper and look to the long term because regardless of whether we get another season or not we have to sort the issue at some point.

Good point, what struck me more than de gea’s fallibility last night, was maguire. He seems to be regressing this season since leaving Leicester.

Statistically claimed more crosses than De Gea this season and is top 10 in that statistic. Outside of Pope who is the gold standard (and with his all round game for me should be the undisputed England #1 despite Hendo playing for us) he compares favorably or almost as well as any other keeper in the league with regards to crossing.

You have no idea what his short range passing is like because its not a game we play, you could well be right he doesn't look the most comfortable with the ball at his feet but whilst there is an element of it being an educated guess its still a guess as to weather he could be successful playing a short passing game..

Educated guess? His kicking is poor, and he’s clearly not that comfortable on the ball so why would you ask him to do something he’s not good at. You wouldn’t. So the manager takes that risk from the game.
 
If this decision was based on what is best for Henderson, and the club the owns him, he will be going abroad to improve and develop his game.
At some point, they will need a versatile and experienced keeper, to replace De Gea. That time will surely come, but in the meantime, they are unlikely to sell, or loan him again to a PL rival.
I suspect he will be given a big pay increase, on the understanding that, a 2 year loan to a top Euro club, will be in his best long term interest of achieving No 1 status at Old Trafford.
An early decision on that scenario will also focus Wilders attention where it needs to be.

The only problem with that, is that these decisions are rarely made in the players interest. Man Utd will have a quality keeper, waiting for De Gea to fold. Hendo will get the experience and development he needs to increase his asset value when the time comes. Playing in Europe can only enhance his chances at the England, and Man Utd number one job.

A new contract will make his wages too high for us. If he wants to compete for the England keeper position at the Euros next summer he has to be playing, that makes another loan to us a possibility but do we want to be hanging around until after the season starts - No! I would rather settle for Ramsdale Ok not as good as Henderson but he has played behind a much worse defence than ours and gave goals away by being told by Howe to play it out from the back If Ramsdale wants to play in the Premiership where could he go and be number one apart from us Not Manchester, Liverpool, Burnley, Everton, Chelsea Tottenham, possibly Arsenal. Would be be Number one at Villa when Heston is fit no. West Brom could be a possibility or maybe West Ham or Palace. A season with a struggling Bournemouth and the route to a Premiership number one spot will be even harder

Hendo is represented by Jonathan Barnett, the same person who represents Bale. He might be a lot of things, but naive isn't one of them.
