If so who's worth knicking from Frank's lot and the Baggies?
Definitely not Gayle.

To stay in the division next year we ideally need to score 40-45 goals.

Our defence is pretty decent, but we need to score goals.

Huddersfield showed how not to do with goals scored and if we can keep goals conceded to below 60 we should be Ok.

We need to score goals - where are they going to come from?

As for Gayle - he's a twat, but the twat scores goals.

Newcastle will be looking to offload him in the summer, so he'll probably go somewhere.

I'd sign Gayle and accept him in the same way we brought Madine in. Staying in the division is worth more to me than a player being a diving twat in the past.

Don't disagree with that but I'd prefer Che Adams to Gayle. He scored two goals less than Gayle this season but in a less successful side, and at 22 is 6 years younger.

Bugger it, we're in the money, let's buy em both :)

Indeed - Che could come back for me - it's the bigger picture as against some elements of what these players have done in the past.

We need to score goals and they aren't going to come from what we already have at the club.

No 1 for me - go and buy Bowen - he fits everyone of CW's requirements.

plus another up top too - possibly our 2nd loan player after hendo.

I know it doesn't answer the OP, but if so, I hope Villa stuff the scum for their shite house antics the other week.

These would be fantastic signings. I can't help but think we could afford Bowen but he'd be overpriced, and that we couldn't afford Adams at all. He's wanted by, and grew up supporting, and lives in Leicester. He'll go there, he'll fit their blueprint and continue to take them forward.

The only decent derby players belong to Chelsea and I've gone right off Wilson who just doesn't do anything in actual play

Wilson has been by far the most overrated player in the league this season. I’ve not seen him have one good game.

Still, being on loan from Liverpool at Frank Lampard’s Derby County and scoring a few free-kicks, you’re bound to get your arse licked by Sky.

Was very impressed with West Brom at the lane this season, although Villa have goal advantage you never know..

Fair points but my concern with Gayle is his propensity for cheating and rash challenges. Hell miss a number of games as a consequence. That said if Wilder wanted him fair does.

Baggies only have Rodriguez available as a striker. Can't see it happening for them thanks to Gayle.

Is this the same Gayle that Newcastle don't think is good enough for the Premiership, the same Newcastle that also don't exactly score loads of Goals.
Stay well away for me.

They had Harvey Barnes back then. As soon as he went back to Leicester they fell apart.

Gayle has the cunt factor truly in his favour but if he didn't cost too much.........

Yes, it's the same Gayle. I don't doubt he has issues, but CW & AK have a habit of taking players and doing "extra" with them. JOC/Egan/Fleck/Duffy have all been improved by our coaching staff. The same could apply to Gayle.

I take everyones point about Gayle and some found fault with Madine and Hogan. but they did ok.

What I find really really strange on this forum is we are seeing forum posters say they don't want certain players and aren't saying WHO they would go and get.

We only have a limited budget for loans/purchases and centre forwards will be the most expensive commodity.

Che Adams as another example - may be well out of our price range especially if someone like Leicester come looking but if we could afford him there are numerous on here who'd be mardy about bringing him back.

Some of our fans need to look at the bigger picture.

I don't disagree.

We need to put the ball in the net - what we have quite frankly isn't good enough.

In the end, I don't think we'd go for Gayle - but we ain't a big fish in the Prem pond. The fact we might fancy this player and that player doesn't mean to say they would come. No matter what our fans think, we are everyone's favourite to get relegated and players/agents will know that.

Huddersfield ended up with a dog fight 1st season and an embarrassment 2nd season - we need to be better, but primarily we need quality at the top of the pitch.

Goals scored: Hudd: 22, Fulham: 34 and Cardiff:34. Brighton only scored 35 but got their points by conceding less.

If we are going to front up some of these Prem teams as CW has suggested, even though he said on Football Focus, they may tweak the system a bit, scoring goals has to be a priority.

CW and Paul Mitchell have a tough job finding and then persuading some talent to come.

Yep, can see Adams going to Leicester too - he's the type of player they are interested in and if we stay in this division longer that 1 year we should try and emulate what B'mouth and Leicester are doing with recruitment.

As for Bowen - He's in the last year of contract so I reckon he'll go somewhere this summer.

As for overpriced - £15m plus 25%. Let him write into his United contract he can go if we are relegated, but he's the one player i'd go and buy. He plays off the front, is quick and creates goals for himself and at 22 fits CW's criteria.

The noises I pick up from CW is that we'll be tweaking our system a bit - that could mean a 3421 formation which should suit Bowen down to the ground. The other could be fought over by McG and Duffy.

We then have to find someone up top !

I wouldn't write the Baggies off just yet, they're capable of destroying anyone on their day, their day hasn't come around much recently that's all. FLD can turn it on at times but I'd be surprised if the dirties let this one slip although an early goal for FLD could make the crowd twitchy.
