Hi all, hope you're all well.

Obviously it's been an incredibly disappointing season for you guys. As a neutral I'd have never imagined you being in this situation at this stage of the campaign, and you must be frustrated and angry at how it has panned out.

The reason for coming on here is that having just done a general feature on whether or not the Blades will stay up, I just wanted to get some feedback on here from yourselves, who see the side week in week out, as to what you think on your chances of staying in the Championship.

Two home wins on the trot will have given you great confidence, especially with some winnable games at Bramall Lane in the run-in.

If you get the chance then you're more than welcome to have a look at the feature, I won't put the link of the feature up unless you want me to, don't want to be spamming your forum for no good reason.

All the best for the rest of the season.

Shouts From The Stands

Well since you've asked nicely, i don't think anyone will be too concerned about you posting the link.

For the record, i think it's too little too late. It's going to go down to the wire, and we've got swansea away on the final day, who will probably still be battling for second place.

Should probably be THE match of the final day as well, in terms of what will be riding on it.

I can't think anything other than we're screwed. Sadly I don't see us getting out of this any more.

Alright STFS, If you've already done the feature then you don't need our feedback on the current situation, surely you're looking for feedback on your feature? But I'll give you some of my feedback anyway, as Highbury said, you asked nicely :)

From my point of view, I wouldn't like to say that we will stay up, but we've given ourselves a fighting chance.

I got a lot of stick from many of the guys on here back in late Jan when I said that I didn't think February should have been treated as the do or die month. But I genuinely believed that Feb and early March when the games were coming thick and fast, that the season wouldn't have been decided then. Although I expected a better return of points than we got.

However, having got such a palty few points in that time (also dropping points against Scunny, Palace and Derby) I'd also expect that we would have been cut a drift, given the performances and the results it looked bleak. But we're not out yet. The performance v Leeds showed more than just the result.

So now there is hope. We're getting players back fit, we're getting players finding positions and importantly we've picked up two big wins. United over the last few years have struggled against the dog fighters in this division, but manage to pull out results against teams on a level with Leeds and Forest.

If I was a betting man I wouldn't put money on us to stay up, I wouldn't put money on us to beat strugglers like Boro, Barnsley or Preston. Keep your money in your pocket. But keep an eye on some of the other games and we may chuck up a surprise or two.

Start that with the game v QPR, its set up nicely and with Warnock, Paddy and Derry at QPR it could get interesting, especially if we offer our attention to Taarabt. In the midst we could come away thinking "how did we do that" (not necessarily in a positive way.

Whether we'll do enough, its United, so its absolutely anyones guess!

Thanks for the feedback Highbury, swollengland and vancouver, much appreciated. I wouldn't give up hope, especially with the situation at Coventry...

Cheers Highbury, I will put it up, it's just a general feature to give the public a better understanding of your relegation fight. If anyone has a problem with the link being put up on here, then I'd be more than willing to take it down:

The last two home matches have produced very encouraging results. But looking at our remaining fixtures which include away games at QPR, Reading and Swansea it is difficult to see how we can get to the 50 points that we will probably need as a minimum to stay up. Especially given our very, very poor away form - just 1 point from our last 10 away games.

Obviously results have been pretty poor throughout the season. But I feel the irreperable damage was done in February. Seven matches played and only two points to show for those matches. And to make it worse, 3 of the defeats were against Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Derby. Failing to register a win in any of those 3 matches would have been poor, but to lose all 3 was disasterous and flew in the face of the golden rule - don't lose to those sides around you.

Interesting feature STFS, seems a well balanced story, in fact not far off the way I see things.

Good story STFS. For info your RSS button on the site doesn't work in Chrome on a mac.

This is what i get.

It works in Safari on the mac, haven't tested firefox or opera.

Cheers swissblade, as nice as it is to get feedback on the feature, I'm more interested in finding out the opinions of fans and seeing what your opinions are on the subject, and whether I'm wide of the mark or on the money. So whether it's on the feature or on here, always nice to have debate with the fans.

Thanks for the heads up Highbury, will look into it!

`this month is crucial`
A post i put on the forum at the start of february that,by a few-was frowned upon.

It's four managers this season if you include the 3 games that John Carver was care taker before Adams got the job.

It will be just like United to give us all hope before cruelly falling at the final hurdle. There is a new momentum from the two recent home wins but our fate is not entirely in our own hands. We need Palace to have a few crucial injuries (a niggling hammy for Ambrose please) and loss of form as well as Coventry continuing their self destruction (it might be on points, never mind the threat of Admin the way they are playing) to have a chance of survival. Clearly we have to keep Scunny and Preston out of reach so the game at Deepdale - a venue we never really seem to do that well at - might be more important given their recent set of results. I cannot see us catching any of the others above Palace or Cov - although Derby were actually worse than us even though they won at Bramall Lane recently.

Only consolation would be for the Pigs to drop into the basement section. The look on Smegson's face would turn milk sour at the best of times so that would be a sight for sore eyes.

Already seen a couple of Sheffield derbies in Div 3 - not wishing to repeat the experience, thanks.
Massive club they are, by the way - did you know?

We are gone and especially now that it looks like Coventry won't go into admin this season.

Cheers gav, kenilworth and bladesman, much appreciated!

Kenilworth, in regards to the blue and white half of Sheffield, their appointment of Megson makes Newcastle sacking Hughton and appointing Pardew look like a masterstroke! Think I will have to look at doing a feature on them soon, I'm sure they'd rather swap positions with you guys!

ok my view is, we've played well and got spanked (see scunny) played badly and scraped a point (see doncaster @ home) then w've played out of our skins and won (see Leeds) and played ok and got 3 points (see forest) what we have been lacking is consistency, well apart from consistently crap (see febuary), our defence has been a major factor in our problems having gone from one of the tightest defences in any league to approx the most error strewn defence in the championship.
playing people out of position (see cresswell on right wing) until recently hasn't helped, since we started played people in position certain players have grown in stature and consitency.
as for staying up, toss a coin thats as good as any way to predict relegation or not.
the only game that really matters is the game that either relegates us or gives us safety.
hope this is helpful.

I personally don't think we can do it, and that our run may well be too little too late, but never say never, I didn't expect to take 6 points from Forest and Leeds, so there is definite hope!

before vokes left i would have said we'll stay up no problem.. someone needs to have a word with henderson and tell him to stop being a nobhead.. if we can do this then we'll win where we're supposed to lose and lose where we're supposed to win.. it's the united way

Because in the 3 years or whatever it is he's been here no-one has tried that??? And if they have it hasn`t exactly worked has it....

Apologies I wasn't on here yesterday, but just wanted to say many thanks to munxy, norfolk, superpig and sellyoak for your comments. It's been great to come on here and get such good feedback from you guys, really appreciate it.

Don't lose the faith, plenty of twists and turns to come, and as always, all the best for the rest of the season.
