Just been exploring the Spurs website and the posh options.

Incredible range of choices for the wealthy, with Michelin starred chefs, level 1 padded seats, a ‘legend’ sat with you discussing tactics, all manner of uber grub and ale options. More like picking a holiday hotel than going to a match.

Me? All I wanted was the basic Prawn sandwich option, but seems I’m living in the past....

And can anyone explain what the fuck the Spurs wall of noise is, as one option allows you to sit near it..

Finally, they have options to be near the ‘unwashed corner’ to allow executives to sit near ‘quaint Northerners from Sheffield’, where you can ‘hear strange accents and words’ and look from a safe distance at ‘real common people and football types’...

It is coming...

I like the look of this new Spurs stadium and the facilities seem fantastic. I think you're right by the way, this is the new face of football and all clubs will need to improve their match-day experience if they want to keep fans coming through the turnstiles over the coming decades and compete with lots of other "entertainment" options that people have to choose from these days. It will inevitably attract a different type of supporter - a fair-weather one perhaps? But that's the way the game is going - away from the common man and into the arms of our waiting corporate lovers.

I'm not sure this kind of "finery" would be appreciated in Sheffield by most supporters. After all, we're not really used to it. Having said that, we do have a Michelin scarred Chef down at the Lane. Poor lad got hit by a car the other week. thankfully he's o.k., but you can still see the tyre marks on him. It's not affected his ability to defrost and reheat a Pukka pie though - that's the good news.

I can answer your question about the "Spurs wall of noise". It's an English version of this...

It's where their fans do a lot of "wailing" apparently. I hope we give 'em summat to wail about when we play them.

I suppose the contrasts between the two sets of supporters couldn't be much greater. I'm sure that there are enough rich corporate types in London to really make the most of these facilities. I am hoping some of it rubs off on Sheffield United. One step at a time though, but toilet roll and soap in the toilets and maybe a new flavour of meat pie would be a step in the right direction?

I went to their new stadium a couple weeks back to watch them play southampton.

I sat in the premium seats and it inclduded Buffet food and drink. The chicken balti pies were banging. At half time we came out to tables full of free beer from beavertown brewery we grabbed a few. More free food after the game as well.

Was an amazing experience but very different from your traditional football game and lacked any hostility. The stadium and facilities are brilliant, food and drink options are really good also, beavertown have a their own brewery on site and the beers are very tasty and reasonably priced. We stayed in the lounge area after for an extra 2 hours where they had live bands on.

The atmosphere was ok, it can hold a good atmosphere when generated, no idea what the wall of noise is though, at a guess i think it is probably their 'kop' stand which is 1 massive tiered stand which seemed to have most of the noose coming from it. It was the opposite side to the away end though.

As an experience you should definately enjoy it but it its certainly very different to what we are used to after years of playing milwall, Bradford etc

I think the new Spurs stadium is crap to be honest. Looks like a toilet bowl/shopping centre/airport terminal from the outside and the inside seems quite oppressive due to lack of sunlight. I know they have their "wall" but it's so sterile and bowl-y.

The can keep their crabstick sandwiches.

Imagine having everything set up in this corporate, high-end market manner, with the stadium tours, club museum, hospitality packages...and then having fuck all to show off about.

It's hardly the Nou Camp or the Allianz Arena is it?! What are they going to show instead of countless European Cups, league titles and Ballan d'Ors?

"And here we have a photo of Dele Alli doing a funny celebration with his hand. That got quite a bit of social media interest!"

I'd rather be stood on a cold windswept terrace than that.

Ah....crab sticks...the biggest money spinner yet to emerge from under the Crab Industries umbrella 🦀🦀£££

Seems they're already on it mate. I just received my delivery of The Crab industries 30 quid 'bumper pack of best quality crab sticks'. Needless to say these f******s don't need storing in the freezer

I was talking to a proper Man U fan yesterday who went to our game v Chelsea as a guest of a Chelsea mate in hospitality.
He was saying how civilised it was and how hospitable the Chelsea fans were and very different from fans of northern teams. I had to admit he had a point from my experience of that game. Combat 18 were nowhere to be seen, just compliments to us about how well we'd played and friendly banter.
Very different from my last two visits to Stamford Bridge

Couple of league trophies, eight FA Cups, Cup Winners Cup, UEFA Cup, some league cups.

Tottenham... Corporate? Jesus, it's a bloody nightmare, don't walk down the wrong street by mistake.

Nostalgia Nights at The Happy Crab are doing well too, following on from a discussion about why you don't see white Dog shit anymore.

On an almost unrelated subject, I recommend the "Cannoli's"........................

You can see why English fans are heading over to the continent to experience football louder, rawer, cheaper and more fan friendly.

wall of sound at Spurs?! Is that crinkle when 18,000 fans open their packet of vegetable crisps at halftime?

...and recently?
Trophies are trophies, football didn’t start in 1992. I can at least remember Spurs winning some of those trophies, I can’t remember 1925. If the size of your stadium is proportionate to what you’ve won, I guess us and the pigs should be ground sharing at Chesterfield.

I went to watch Valencia CF at home the other week as they happened to be playing whilst we were there.

It was about two-thirds full, maybe even less as there were plenty of empty seats around where we were sat up in the Gods. Even so, that whistling thing that a lot of European fans do when the opposition have the ball...fucking hell. I've never heard a din like it. Great to witness.

Something else I noticed. They put a decibel meter up on the big screen to encourage fans to make as much noise as possible. It worked a treat and it sounded fantastic but I couldn't help thinking how contextual it was. If a club did that over here they'd have the piss ripped out of them for being tinpot, yet we fawn over how loud and raucous the crowds are at various clubs across the continent even though a large number of them have stuff like a decibel meter or a band (Valencia had both).

If someone is banging a drum at Borussia Dortmund they're a hero. If someone brought a drum to Bramall Lane they'd be wearing it before half time.

Fuck all to with the OP; just a thought of mine. If we're talking catering, Valencia didn't sell alcohol in the ground and I certainly needed a beer after the number of fucking stairs we had to climb to get to our seats. Marks lost for that.

I tend to agree. I don't know what people mean when they talk about how good the atmosphere is on the continent. I enjoy going to see Pauli, but the crowd noise isn't anything special. It only comes from one group on what you could call their kop and is whipped up by two blokes with megaphones who spend the entire match with their backs to the pitch. It's answered by an equally noisy away following at the far end, usually, but the rest of the ground sit in virtual silence. There's something artificial about noise which doesn't follow what's happening in the game. I'm not knocking it completely, it's fine really, but it's not any better than English games and certainly not better than the Lane.
Maybe other clubs in Europe are better, but Pauli's atmosphere is supposed to be good.
