Any idea why none of the loan players Retsos, Besic and the Flying Dutchman, are in the squad today. Have the loans ended

Injured? Simply not selected? Or something else?

I thought it was odd as well, issues with extending their loans maybe?

And Besic

No one would say Rodwell is better than him and Retsos?!

Are their loans up at the end of the month?

If so, we're in trouble.

Most likely to do with not getting the loan extensions over the line in time. Technically neither of them (or Besic) have a loan contract with us, so wouldn’t be able to play for us.

Would imagine they all get sorted fairly quickly.

Didn’t think about this until you mentioned it. Nothing to add except I imagine it’s contract related.

Perhaps they were loaned until now (June cut off wasn't it?), so were either allowed to return home, or returned home when all this C19 shit kicked off and football was suspended?

Contracted until the end of June though aren't they?

So is Fraser at Bournemouth, so is Taylor at Charlton. If they aren't in the correct mindset and have a future elsewhere or no future at the club then it's not rocket science to see why they aren't included.

If we have decided not to take options up on them for whatever reason then it’s unlikely they will feature. I think Rodwell and Leon on the bench may indicate that.

Aye, the Gordian knot solution is that they're either not good enough, or don't want to stay. Zivkovic in particular was an absolute flyer so it wouldn't surprise me if Wilder just doesn't rate him.

I thought we were signing Restos?

If you've heard something, then just say.

Totally different situations. Both are trying to earn a contract here, and why would we decide on either before more of the remaining games have been played?

Just maybe Wilder has made his mind up on both so there is no point playing them.

Wilder might not fancy them & has agreed not to force them to play & risk injury.

Possible but would be surprising given they've not played any games. Particularly with Retsos, who we seemed to have every intention of signing.

Who says we want to sign Retsos?

The indications in January were that we were likely to make it permanent.

Not sure why we'd enter such a commitment with just a short term loan in mind.

He seems a natural Basham replacement so it would be a surprise if we'd decided this early just based on training.

Maybe he just doens't fit in? Or just isn't good enough? Money will be tight in the close season so Wilder needs to be sure.

My only thought is that with so many games in a short space of time that we're splitting the squad somewhat and alternating resting players completely.
With the number of subs allowed this still doesn't explain why they weren't on the bench, but other than simply being out of favour it's the only other explanation I can come up with.

It's not the same point because he's our player, but Verrips wasn't on the bench either.

You were quoted as saying how good he was and a signing for £13m would be great. I went into say you’ve not seen him play maybe wait. You then had me a wager? this all forgotten about?

Would've been £9m for Retsos.

You seemed strangely certain he wouldn't sign so now I'm wondering if you'd heard something I've not?

With both of these seemingly being let go and awarding Didsy a new contract should it ring alarm bells about our upcoming recruitment?

Has the Covid and the upcoming legal action over the land scuppered things?

Players are normally contracted to the end of June but loans can be different. Our season wasn’t supposed to run any longer than mid-May so maybe they were only contracted to be here until the end of May.

How have we ‘seemingly’ let them go?

Depending where we finish we are still due a fair chunk of money at the end of the season.
