The corruption rumours around the deal giving WHU the Olympic stadium continues to give concern - especially to the council taxpayers in Newham who are stumping up £40m (and rising) to fund this exercise and its dubious legality. I know something of the background and quite a few of the individuals involved in setting this up and believe me the Guardian articles only really scratched the surface.Whichever way you cut this public finances have been used to give a football club an unfair financial advantage. But the desperate need of the politicians, particularly Johnson and Wales, to demonstrate an enduring Olympic legacy and the fear of another millenium dome escapade have driven this and WHU have taken full advantage. At some point the EC may decide to investigate further - that door is still open for another 10 years. I very much hope they do.

Some good points there, but it highlights how the 'laws' can be manipulated and - in the event of an appeal - used against the appellant. On Football Heaven last night, somebody's (referring to the ineligible player) said 'But he didn't score.' It shouldn't matter if the erring team won, drew, got more goals than...etc. etc. The rules should state the offence and the punishment. No ifs or buts.

By not doing this, we've seen plenty of examples recently where 'some' clubs get severely punished and others pretty much get away with it. Failing to complete the correct paperwork for a single game is basic human error.
In no way can West Ham be used as a comparison. They didn't 'fail to register' (TWO) players(s). They embarked on a carefully thought-out ploy to manipulate the rules in their favour over a considerable period of time. Other teams were obviously in on this scheme as they deliberately played weakened teams (Man. U, Liverpool) to help West Ham. As an act of illegality in football it is without equal. Brooking and Richards would do well in positions of power in a banana republic (or politics). Their corruption was indulged because the rest of The Establishment always stick together. With the outrageous decision to gift Spam The White Elephant Olympic Stadium (yet another useless scheme to give self-aggrandisement to The Chosen Few), it proves nothing has changed.
You'll not be voting in the election then.

Cyprus , you and i know that will never happen . If the establishment have known about the escapades and evil wrong doings of Lord Janner for over 20 years , what hope is there for a building constructed of steel and concrete - absolutely none .

I don't reckon Man Ure's role in this can be understated either. The unusual last day defeat, and the two year loan that wasn't made permanent even though he was very successful in their team ??

The whole lot of it still stinks.

Of course, in typical Blades fashion, we saw an opportunity to royally fuck up and grasped it with both hands

Most of us let it go long ago. But when our near-neighbours get a points deduction for a far less-serious offence it's natural to refer to it. The Tevez episode is possibly the most famous "ineligible player" case in the history of footall. Can't we even referenceTevez in a related discussion without being told to "let it go"?

The point everyone seems to be missing is that the PL and FL are different leagues with different rules. There is no comparison to be made.

We all feel the same way about what happened with West Ham but a decision by one league does not set a precedent for another.

Looking at the games left at the bottom of the championship I don't think the 3 points deduction will do Rotherham any harm, they did deserve to have the points deducted, we do seem to carry a grudge against West Ham and tevez and rightly so.

They may have played weakened teams but it was to rest players, not to help West Ham.

I think the thing is , and we have got to remember , they are all Lodge members and on the square . Not saying this influences anything , but then again.

It doesn't influence anything? It influences everything we do. The only good thing that can be said about the House of Lords is that it keeps all the nonces, perverts and paedophiles in one place.
