Listening to the Blackpool Game, but not on RS

As Billyblade says, it's the job of the 'professional' to provide the incisive commentary, the pundit's job in local radio is to provide more of a fan's view and also add their actual footballing experiences which most commentators don't have.

I'd defy any fan from here to do Sir Keith's job and not come across as mainly negative in the past 10 years. Just read an average day's postings :)

But that's just it. It's a vicious circle.

There's plenty of room for constructive criticism but instead we get a miserable pointless death spiral of negativity.

Imagine an alternative pundit, with some experience of playing football in the last ten or fifteen years talking about the game from a more up-to-date perspective.

There'd be plenty to say, and it'd be useful.

I learn far more from Bergen Blade about our shortcomings than I do from Keith.

"...I learn far more from @Bergen Blade about our shortcomings than I do from Keith...."

I learn more about our shortcomings just by watching us play, when I want to know the details, I read what Bergan says ;)

See post above.

If he was punditing on *any* game I'd throw the radio out the window - his views on not just United but football in general with the occasional minor exception are horribly outdated.

A hero as a player. A villain as a pundit.

I do wonder if he's actually damaging the club...

WHF , always respect your opinion , but come on , you wonder if Keith Edwards is damaging the club.

If that was all we had to worry about and true , we would be laughing .

From damage levels KE is a banger fire work , when the board keeps throwing angrenades into BDTBL.

Let's get things into perspective . It's harmless enough and like a moaning mate sat next to you at the match.

Amazing that some supporters think football has the equivalent status of rocket science, it's a simple game, as our own manager continually says. Football is complicated by managers and coaches to justify their existence. Football may be faster, fitness improved, are the players any better, down to opinion. I am sure KE knows more about movement and scoring goals than most. There were a lot of gaps in commentary last night especially second half to the non event taking place on the pitch. KE have a word with NA, eight chances first half having a laugh or what.

Ok.

The rationale is that he is an important public voice and he's opinionated and antiquated, he feeds destructive negativity and therby legitimizes the haters, this ultimately impacts the level of performance, and the club spirals to its ultimate doom.

I did say "I wonder", and I do. :-)

A more constructive (and better informed!) voice might set a different tone in which, say, Bert survives a 0-0 draw at Blackpool.

It's hard to say whether pundits and social media have an impact and if so to what extent, but for me Keith is a black cloud over the Lane and his only impact is to make everybody's job even harder.

Maybe...

I have respected from a distance a lot of the posts you've made on here but I have to say I struggle with this one, sorry.

Not as much as your opinions are damaging this forum.

It's an opinion I suppose.

Least it's giving Collins a break from the "Harpies" on here

Give me a break
