Pay peanuts & you only get monkeys to work for yer;)

But we're not paying peanuts.

Apparently were the Man City of league 1 and have the highest budget again. Coventry offered to make Fleck their highest paid player but they couldn't compete with our wage structure.

Agree with Somerset
We pay big salaries and still get monkeys.

I have no doubt Sunjihi was right about the players he mentioned all but being signed. It's quite clear things from our end are what's destroying deals . Seemingly at the last minute

The brand new technical board doing their job well then.

No way will we have the highest wage bill now. Bolton's and Charlton's will dwarf ours for a start. I think the Fleck move was Wilders "marque signing". The one he was allowed to push the wages up for.

Not bad for a player whos only job is to look up and see the ball fly above his head ;)

Do you think Sunjihi is a con man? A charlatan?

It doesn't feel like Sheffield United and hasn't for a while. McCabe is destroying the club with his disastrous decisions and total lack of ambition.

He's destroyed the club. There no longer is a club. Fans have been beaten down into apathy. Fans fighting. Fans not caring. Players have been ruined. Managers have their career destroyed in one season.

There's pretty much nothing left.

I was replying/referring to the quote of A better fullback for us will cost a lot cheaper than Brayford" and an all-over generalising that whenever it's possible, business is done on the cheap.

Ahh, my point was that we overpaid Brayford probably to what you could pay 3/4 good players at this level and we got a monkey

Was a big fan of Brayford when he came on loan, however I don't think we any any weaker if we don't replace him.

we seemed to improve for a bit when he was out of the side last season, when Basham played right wing back position and we played Walsall off the park.

Brayford is the type of player who needs a bit of TLC, his form suffered when he was unhappy at Cardiff, came to us on loan, different player.

Good move by Wilder to free up some money IMO.

Free up some money? We are sending money to a Championship club to pay his wages.

Let's loan Billy out and free up even more money. I can't wait for the end if season lap of honour with Kev being carried on high by the rest of the Board holding this year's Accounts proudly aloft to wild acclaim.

We'll definitely have the biggest budget in League 2 and romp it next season.

If McCabe has no intention of selling the club, and genuinely wants promotion - what's the point of cutting the budget to the bone? Is he broke? I don't get it.

More likely we are paying a percentage of his wages directly to him. It's saving money however you look at it.

We have sold Adams and are sending some of the money to Burton Albion with a player that quite transparently has been trying to engineer a move there and will no doubt start playing well again.

We will replace him with a worse player.

But we've saved money! That will warm my heart after we get humped today.

It's all well and good saving money, if some of that money is reinvested into the team.
But the signs are not good on that front.

This season is make or break for me. If we are still in this division come the end of May, then I might decide to save money when season ticket renewal comes round. And I can see the biggest drop in season tickets since we have been down in this division comming if we don't go up this year.
Surely they have used all the excuses up on why we couldn't strengthen before deadline day, The broken fax machine, We tried but just couldn't get them over the line, Nobody wants to sell their best players, Clubs wanting transfer fee's for players etc etc, there just can't be anymore excuses.
In fact i have just thought of one they haven't used Britexit.
It's comming Blades it's comming.

If we're still in this division but have seen a big improvement on last season (hard to believe after the start we've had I know), we might, just might, actually not sack a manager and keep one for two full seasons, let him build something and finally end this decline.

We bought a goalkeeper this week, didn't anybody tell you? It was all over this site. It's a bloke from Cardiff.

We've also signed quite a lot of other players in the last few weeks.

Well I've certainly been impressed with the quite a lot of other players.
I admire your optimism that signing a goalkeeper from Cardiff and getting rid of our 1st choice right back without signing a replacement will actually make us better.

An A / B answer...

A. We are more confident in the defence with a new GK and Freeman at RB.
B. We are more confident in the defence with Long & Brayford as first choices.

It could have been worse.

No new GK and Brayford still on loan.

Has the transfer window closed early this year?

But, Shirley, the replacement is already at the club, isn't he?

They usually are, allegedly.

;)

Has the transfer window closed early this year?

Never said it had.
But honestly would you be totally shocked if not one new player arrived between now and the end of the window ?
I have said on a previous post I'm normally a clapper so to speak, but getting rid of our 1st choice right back without signing a replacement, Wilder allegedly welcoming back Coutts, Freeman and Wallace back into the squad. It's just setting a few alarm bells ringing.
