I've looked in match archive on here and I don't think it goes back far enough.
Who like me was at the notorious game at Fratton park when the linesman got attacked.
There was alot of media attention on us that day. Just wonder what people recall of the day. Apart from the linesman getting attacked I remember lots of trouble outside, and numerous pinch invasions right at the side of us next to the corner flag.
I was sat behind the net, and despite all the agro and tension, a certain pompey player that I'll just call "J" was goading us.
Couldn't get away from the dump quick enough after.

...and here I was looking forward to seeing some analysis of how laminate flooring has overtaken more traditional linoleum flooring... :(

What a day that was.

Other than QPR away a few weeks later this was one of the most memorable off field away days with the blades

Left early morning to get the train to Portsmouth which broke down.

Was a bunch of other blades on the train and between us we drunk the train dry with one of the group wanting to leave the train to see if he could find somewhere to get more ale.

A knob of a pompey fan had attached himself to us and we spent the first half hour or so when we eventually got to portsmouth trying to get rid of him,

We made it to the game absolutely bladdered and other than the lino being punched remember very little else about the day

God knows how we got back home the state we were in

Happy Days

I was there. Was it Shaun Derry who went in goal when Simon Tracey got sent off? I just remember thinking, oh no our fans in trouble yet again, knowing the shit was going to hit the fan in the news.

I was away working in Portsmouth at the time, so got to the game. It was a fairly non-descript first half (well, up until around 44 mins ! ) with them going in front early doors (Aloisi??) and us equalising with a crap Lee Sandford cross that happened to fluke it's way in......

The incident itself just seemed to happen in slow motion, with Tracy trudging off, the rest of us thinking "well that's us screwed then" with no sub keeper, and leftfield this sideshow kicking off with a "fan" running up the touchline. It took until getting back to the hotel to catch the TV footage to learn exactly what the "fan" had done, as i didn't get a great view as I was watching Tracy. The word got around the away end just why the Lino was spark out, and I just knew from the reaction of the Pompey fans in the corner of their stand that we were in trouble! - and I was plotting my escape even then.

As the second half kicked off, the atmosphere seemed to settle more back into a game of football, with Derry doing well (and taking the piss!) in goal. I also seem to remember Earl Barrett (correct me if i'm wrong??) performing absolute heroics in defence to get us a point.

I somehow escaped the ground into the general crowd unnoticed (I don't wear colours to away games). The evening was a mixture of 5 Live wanting the club banned from football forever, and while I was out drinking in Southsea that night, the general opinion of Pompey fans was that we should be banned forever too.....

Then we got the Battle of Bramall Lane 4 years later to look forward to !!
