Just going off pre-season selections and the injury to Moore

Yep Carruthers will play in place of of Duffy.

Agree Clarke [height] instead of Lavery and Stevens (forward threat) in place of Lafferty.

Within a month Lundstram in front of Coutts or Fleck, probably Coutts. Lundstram adds height and strength.

Loads of continuity through the team from last season which is good but the team is a lot stronger.

Brayford in place of Basham, not yet but if he stays he is a good player. Probably would replace Freeman.

Personally I would play Wright before Stearman but I hope I'm wrong about the new signing, in fact I have only seen him play against us a couple of times and a fair bit on telly. I love watching Wright play though.
 
Team no longer picks itself....glad I don't have to pick a starting side from that lot. Good strength in depth.

Only nailed on starters....Fleck, Coutts, Bash, JOC, Stearman, Freeman....maybe Sharp.

In my opinion Weight should start. Don't see how he can possibly lose his place, but I think he will. Same could be said for Rafferty, but Ateven has looked good. Also think Carry uta may start.

How strong is Lundstram? At 5ft 11 he certainly doesn't add any height if he replaces the 6ft 0 Coutts.

Only starter for me is Knill on the bench.

Wilder might just have taken us further than we realise?

Personally I'd have wright instead of stearman, he was immense last season, and I'm not convinced about the new lad. Also I'd put lavery in for Clarke. I think he'll use brooks as an impact sub for the first few games before actually starting him. Too early to put brayford in the team, however if he ends up staying I'd like to see him in the back 3
 
From what's been happening in preseason I think Wilder will go with:-

Blackman
Bash-Stearman-JOC
Freeman-Coutts-Fleck-Stevens
Carruthers
Sharp-Clarke/Lavary

Only one I'm not sure of would be Clarke or Lavary, if Clarke's anything like the end of last season it has to be him. Now if Ched can get himself in the next week, who knows ??? :)
 
Would like to know what Brayford could possibly do better than Basham at RCB....
 
Why are so many insisting Basham plays at CB? As good as his form is he's naturally a CDM isn't he and playing players out of position I'm not a fan of, I know he can be brilliant at CB but what we also should take into account is that we're playing at the next level now and therefore his performances may not quite reach the standard required in this position.

My back 3 would have natural CB Wright Snr in it unless we sign another CB before Saturday.

As for Brayford, if he is to be in the team surely he'd have to go at wing-back and not in the the back 3!

I genuinely think this team picks itself. From last years performances, to the teams put out over pre season. The only position I would see for debate is Lavery or Clarke. One gives pace one gives more of a hold up and power.

Played all season for Burton in the back 3.
 
The only questions are over who gets the left-wingback role, who is in the number 10 role, and who partners Sharp. The rest is pretty fixed I think: Blackman will very likely start, and I can't see Brayford starting ahead of Basham, one of our best players of 2017. I think Clarke will start with Sharp – you sense that has always been Wilder's preferred pairing, and with it ending successfully last season I can see him sticking with it in the first instance. Likewise I think Lafferty probably wins out initially. The number 10 role is tough to call – probably Carruthers I predict.
 
Agree and disagree, but Brooks has definitely earnt a chance, he's been fantastic n I would bang him behind the front 2 at Carruthers expense if I were to make a decision on the last 6 games.
 
Few people calling it right in my view, Wilder will stick with 532..

Bench might be interesting. I would expect something like this:-

Eastwood, Wright, Lafferty, Lundstram, Brooks, Thomas, Lavery​

I can't see Baldock, Duffy or Evans being match ready by then due to a lack of pre season games. Same may apply to Hanson and we also have Moore to come back. Squad looks very healthy. I still feel we may need to add at least one more. Probably in defence.
