Light show

I shudder when I see it. Its embarrassing and shows the way football is going. We're Yorkshire folk, not two-bit teams trying to become NFL wannabees.
Half and half scarves n'all, get em gone.

Woke up on the wrong side of the bed 🤧
I'm not totally on board with it but you've (inadvertently?) hit the nail on the head when you say this is the way football is going. Like it or not we have to embrace it. One of the reasons Man City are gradually taking over Manchester is their engagement with the younger generation, they are absolutely streets ahead of Man Utd on pretty much everything that interests the kids.

FWIW I think we are in a decent place on that regard, relatively sensible pricing, a slick social media/production team and things like the pyro/lights last night. It wasn;t utterly tacky and the kids will have loved it.

On an absolutely brilliant evening (I have been dishing out 'likes' on here like never before), I feel that this was the one thing to grumble about. Absolute garbage in my view, could only serve as preparation for anyone needing to know what it is like being tortured by having bright lights flashed in your eyes, was a total mess. And in my view it deadened the atmosphere. On the big nights, the crowd generates its own atmosphere pre-match, and I felt this disruption lessened the noise levels of the people who matter (us!), and the first 15 minutes were much quieter than the Liverpool lunchtime kick-off game. It took a few iffy referee decisions to up the decibel level, and then the atmosphere got going properly. For god's sake, don't do this against ManU - let the crowd create the atmosphere. Rant over. And believe it or not, I am a very happy Blade this morning...

I suspect similar words were said when floodlights were first used.

Football should only be played in daylight ?

I didn't think it was too bad TBH, certainly not as cringe as I was expecting. Couldn't hear the music very well at the back of The Kop though.

I think last night's 'light show' (which a mate loved) would have been down to Sky.

It was previously done for the handful of supporters that went to the Sunderland game, so might be a permanent feature of our night games.

Well I woke up with an ear to ear smile. Maybe you were just pissed up from celebrating last night and got in the wrong side. It’s easily done.;)

I am being mostly facetious mate. Can't say I think it adds anything to my matchday experience, and I do find it a bit tacky but if the kids enjoy it then I can put up with it. Nothing can top the 'substitution sponsored by (random company name here)'. If I can put up with that then I can put up with a few lights on a stand

We had it for the league cup game so I’m not sure who‘s idea it is. I know a few clubs also have it but I’ve not seen it in action on Sky.

What I do like is the flame bursts as the players come out, just the job on a cold Autumn night.

Shit innit. But brilliant when the sprinklers were putting out the 'spectacular' fire cannons, I enjoyed that bit

I think there's a place for it but not so close to kick-off - killed the atmosphere. Build up to kick-off should be the home & away fans trying to out-chant each other, with a few Blades "classics" thrown in the mix for good measure.
On another note, are the sprinklers part of the show...is it a fire, light and water experience?

It's the sort of thing I'd normally moan about as well, but I actually quite enjoyed it for some reason.
We have to move with the times or get left behind , kids love this type of thing so that's it .I understand how Hodgy feels but he will remember the sixties when pigs were leaving us behind with the media antics ,we kept with it now it's our turn to forge ahead
taking the next generation is important.
