We used to play our centre half at centre forward. Colin Franks, fast but not really any good anywhere
My memory must be worse than I thought cos I can't remember Colin franks playing c/f or being fast. Not saying he didn't or wasn't i just can't remember that.

I may be wrong and he may have played in an emergency but I distinctly remember him at CF. Where is Silent when you need him

i remember Pesch going in goal for us a few times during the injury crisis of 1998

I still stand by my idea that Bogle could have been a brilliant box to box centre midfielders, and it's a hill I'm prepared to die on!!

Amuses me that my boy plays to a high level and the higher he goes the more coaches are keen for young lads to play multiple positions! So we're supposed to believe once they turn pro they can no longer move positions?!?!

I always thought Anel could have been an excellent midfielder

He was athletic, wirey, confident with the ball at his feet and a goal threat.

He could on occasion get bullied at the back as he wasn’t stocky enough to be totally dominant.

Colin Franks was the fastest player at the club but rarely got the opportunity to show it. I think he played CF when we played Liverpool away in the 74/75 season (when we wore an all blue kit) but memory might be playing tricks on me.

Came on as sub replacing Bill Dearden late in the game

Why do fans keep putting wing backs on the wing as a winger.
Its is a different skill set and wing backs have the advantage of attacking a retreating team.Wingers have the problem of attacking from mostly negative positions so pace and trickery is vital and most fullback don't have that .
We have tried it a few times in my time as a Blade going right back to Len Badger who was a skillfull fullback but not a winger.
I think Len Badger was the first overlapping wing back, I'm old enough to have seen him

It was maddening we didn’t use him when Souza missed games and tried everyone except Anel in the middle 😅
